PROGRAM COURSE WORK

Hofstra’s MS in Engineering Management (MSEM) program is designed to provide practicing engineers and specialists in related fields with the requisite skills to assess and manage new and existing technologies. In bridging the gap between the fields of engineering and business management, the program is composed of courses offered at Hofstra’s Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Frank G. Zarb School of Business.

Graduates of the MSEM program will be well-prepared for careers as project managers, engineering managers, product engineers, and systems engineers at top-tier tech-based manufacturing and service firms and in government agencies.

1. Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree in engineering or a related field in science from an accredited institution.

• Quantitative Methods for Decision Making (3 credits)

All applicants must have an a GPA of 3.0 or better in their undergraduate work or a satisfactory score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

• Engineering Quality Management (3 credits)

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS • Nationally Accredited Business School: Launched in spring 2019, the MSEM program is the only one of its kind on Long Island that is partnered with a nationally accredited business school.

• Flexible Study Options: Students may complete course work on campus, online, or through a combination of both options.

• DeMatteis Co-op Program: MSEM students may participate in the DeMatteis Co-op Program.

Co-op students work in a paid position at an engineering or technology firm for a period of six to eight months.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of applicants who completed their bachelor's degree in a country where English is not the official and spoken language.

• Engineering Ethics (1 credit)

This is a 30-credit program. At least 24 credits in graduate engineering and business courses must be completed while in residence at Hofstra, with a cumulative 3.0 grade point average and a minimum grade of C or better in each course.

• Operations and Supply Chain Management (3 credits)

Candidates are expected to complete their studies within four years.
