Mindfulness Meditation
Recovery Group
This group focuses on building the connectivity of mind, body, and emotion through meditation. Learn ways to relax and manage stress, anxiety, and other emotions by staying in the present moment. Monday at 3 p.m. • Friday at 4 p.m.
Learn techniques to build and maintain motivation; cope with urges; manage thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; and live a balanced life through recovery from substance use. This group provides support to individuals in recovery from addictions. Thursday at 6 p.m.
Hues and Beats This therapeutic group aims to address stressors that distinctly impact women of color. Through art, music, and discussion, group members explore issues, process concerns interpersonally, and learn healthy coping strategies. Topics include but are not limited to stress management, racism and discrimination, self-image, and healthy relationships. Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Social Network Live Join fellow students for this social development training group to learn better ways to begin, engage in, and maintain social connections and relationships. Wednesday at 4 p.m. Location: Room 141 Mack Student Center, North Campus
Q+ Group This group offers support and skill-building for the Hofstra LGBTQ+ community. Individuals representing diverse gender and sexual orientation continuums are invited to co-create a safe space to discuss identity, coming out, transitions, relationships, resources, struggles, and victories. Join us to give and receive support while defining a comfortable level of self-community connection. Thursday at 11 a.m.
Coping With Grief This group provides support to students who have experienced a death or loss. Students connect with others who share similar experiences, identify their personal grief process, and develop healthy coping strategies. Thursday at 8 p.m.
Social Anxiety Group This supportive group focuses on helping students understand and reduce anxiety in social situations. Learn and develop skills and strategies for becoming more comfortable in social settings. Friday at 3 p.m.
Unless otherwise noted, all groups meet in Room 106 Student Health and Counseling Center, which can be accessed through the north entrance door of the Wellness and Campus Living Center on north campus.
