HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY HONORS COLLEGE Entrance to Hofstra University Honors College is by invitation only and occurs after a student’s acceptance to the University.
*A dual-degree program may allow the student to earn both an undergraduate and graduate degree in less time than if each degree were pursued separately. Hofstra University offers more than 100 dual-degree programs, many of them in the Zarb School of Business. These programs take more than four years to complete. Hofstra accepts international applications through our website – hofstra.edu – or through the Common Application (commonapp.org). Hofstra offers two admission options to international students: Admission: If you meet the University’s undergraduate admission requirements and have achieved a minimum TOEFL iBT® score of 80 or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, you will be admitted as a fully matriculated student. Conditional Admission: If you meet the University’s undergraduate admission requirements and have achieved a TOEFL iBT® score lower than 80, or an IELTS score lower than 6.5, Hofstra will grant you conditional acceptance. Upon successful completion of our English Language Program (ELP),* you may transition to fully matriculated status.
Requirements to apply include: • Completed application. • Nonrefundable application fee. • Transcripts (in English) for all secondary and postsecondary course work. • SAT or ACT or TOEFL iBT® or IELTS score report (one required; multiple tests encouraged). Please note: SAT or ACT is required for scholarship consideration. U.S. permanent residents or dual citizens must submit SAT or ACT results. Students whose first language is English are not required to submit the TOEFL iBT® or the IELTS. • One letter of recommendation. • Personal essay. Please note that Hofstra awards credit for A-level, Abitur, the IB Diploma, AP credits, etc. Advanced standing and collegiate-level credits may be awarded based on students’ performance on these exams and certain other upper-secondary school certificates. Students should send score reports to the Office of Admission for evaluation. An official evaluation of a student’s secondary record is often helpful in this process and can be provided by organizations such as World Education Services (WES, wes.org).
*Students who meet Hofstra University’s admission requirements but have not demonstrated English language proficiency may be invited to enroll in the English Language Program (ELP).
