THE RIGHT PROGRAM School of Health Professions and According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the health care industry will account for almost one-third of the projected job growth in the next eight years, and the Hofstra University School of Health Professions and Human Services (HPHS) is poised to meet the growing need for the next generation of qualified practitioners, managers and health care policy makers who will work in homes, schools, clinics, workplaces, government and community agencies, hospitals, and other health care facilities.

The School of Health Professions and Human Services comprises the departments of Health Professions; Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences; and Counseling and Mental Health Professions.

HPHS offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs, as well as a dual-degree program: a Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences/Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology, which may save the cost of one or more semesters of tuition. HPHS faculty include both practitioners and scholars actively involved in research.

Human Services Through course work, practical learning experiences and internships in areas such as rehabilitation, counseling and therapy, speechlanguage pathology, audiology, public health, and health management, students become effective and compassionate clinicians, evidence-based practitioners, and advocates who promote health equity. The curriculum is grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, giving students a strong foundation to develop critical thinking, oral and written communication skills, and an appreciation of the cultural and economic diversity of local, regional and global communities.

Your home away from home On a lush 240 acres, our campus boasts ivy-covered buildings, technologically enriched classrooms, and 35 residence halls that are tailored to meet individual preferences – whether you like a traditional-style residence or the camaraderie of suite-style living, or you prefer a designated quiet floor. All residence halls are accessible to students with disabilities and are staffed with trained professional resident directors and assistants who are available around the clock, all semester long. So whether you’re having a snack in the common kitchen, hanging out with friends in the lounge, or studying or watching TV in your room, you can make yourself at home.

Unsurpassed resources Both resident and commuting students enjoy access to six theaters, 18 eateries and 24-hour dining services, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an accredited museum, regular shuttle service around campus and the community, and an impressive 10-floor library that contains more than 1 million volumes and offers 24/7 online access to 235,000 e-journals and e-books. Our recreational and athletic facilities include 17 NCAA Division I sports, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, an indoor sports and entertainment arena, and impressively designed and maintained athletic fields.
