The Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center at Hofstra University joins the talents and capabilities of five separate organizations to support two closely coupled objectives – education of Hofstra students and service in support of the health and well-being of the community. The Saltzman Center forms a powerful resource far greater than simply the sum of its parts. The Center’s Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute; Counseling and Mental Health Professions Clinic; Psychological Evaluation, Research and Counseling Clinic; Reading/Writing Learning Clinic; and Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic are part of the fabric of University life and offer to the Long Island and New York community as well as to the students and employees of Hofstra University, excellent, costeffective services

Counseling and Mental Health Professions Clinic Serving Children, Adolescents, Adults and Families Services The Counseling and Mental Health Professions Clinic offers multiple counseling services in specialized areas such as Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Rehabilitation Counseling, and Creative Arts Therapy.

The clinic provides the following services to residents of Long Island and the surrounding areas: v Individual, couple and family therapy v Community education seminars v Group counseling for individuals, couples and families v Speakers for schools, hospitals and agencies All clinical services are provided by Hofstra graduate students under the direct supervision of licensed mental health professionals.

How to Receive Services The mission of the Counseling and Mental Health Professions Clinic is to assist individuals, couples, and families as they explore and solve problems in a confidential, safe environment.

The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Saltzman Community Services Center is accessible to persons with disabilities and can accommodate most mobility needs. Confidentiality

The Counseling and Mental Health Professions Clinic addresses a wide range of issues and concerns that may appear in varying forms and can occur at any age. An effective treatment plan is developed based upon the specific issue presented by the client(s). Typical issues and concerns include:

All services are provided in a professional and confidential manner and conform to ethical standards. Information is not released without the informed, written consent of the client, except where mandated by law in life-threatening or abusive situations.

Referrals and Fees The Counseling and Mental Health Professions Clinic accepts referrals from medical personnel, educators, clergy, attorneys, mental health practitioners, employee assistance plans, and other professionals. Fees for all services are moderate.

Payment is expected at the time the services are provided; MasterCard and Visa are accepted.
