The home of Hockey Australia’s High-Performance Centre of Excellence, Perth Hockey Stadium, will make way for budding elite athletes as they compete across two venues, including Melville Toyota Hockey Stadium.
Congratulations to the athletes on being selected for your state or territory’s top team. Your dedication, effort, and love for the game have led you to this moment, and we’re thrilled to see you compete at such a high level. Whether you’re aiming for the title or looking to gain valuable experience, this event will undoubtedly play a significant role in shaping your hockey journey and creating unforgettable memories.
The under-18 Championships is the penultimate event in Hockey Australia’s suite of National Championships, and it provides a valuable platform for top age-grade players to showcase their talent in competitive matches on Hockey Australia’s performance pathways program.
I would like to thank the Western Australian Government, through Tourism WA, for their ongoing dedication and commitment to hockey and for hosting this year’s event. I would also like to acknowledge Hockey WA and the WA community for ensuring this week of competition is fun and memorable for everyone involved.

Welcome MESSAGE WA GOVERNMENT
On behalf of the Western Australian Government, we look forward to welcoming competitors, officials and supporters to Perth this winter for the 2025 Hockey Australia Under 18 National Championships.
Western Australia is the home of both the women s and men s national hockey teams, the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras; and Hockey Australia’s High-Performance Centre of Excellence, and we are honoured to be hosting such an important event on the hockey calendar. The Under 18s are a key component of hockey’s National Championship events and one of the pinnacle opportunities for the next generation of hockey’s heroes to showcase their talent. It will see the best of Australia’s Under 18 stars on display, with a total of 24 male and female teams from every Australian state and territory as they battle it out in a tournament setting.
We hope attendees enjoy competing at Melville Toyota Hockey Stadium and Perth Hockey Stadium in Curtin. The new Curtin facility, which is set to be developed into a State-of-the-art Hockey Australia Centre of Excellence, is a sign of our ongoing support for this event and hockey as a sporting code, as well as our commitment to the next generation of Australian sporting talent taking part in Hockey Australia s national program.
Alongside supporting athletes, mass participation events like the 2025 Under 18 National Championships are an important part of our events strategy and provide visitors from far and wide with a timely reason to visit Western Australia. This includes those family and friends travelling with the participants.
Whilst in Perth, I encourage you to take advantage of our vibrant capital city with a variety of entertainment and dining options, and explore our nearby tourism precincts, such as Fremantle, our 19 km of beautiful beaches, the Swan Valley and the magical Rottnest Island, home to the worldfamous quokka.
I also encourage visitors to stay longer and experience our unique regional areas including the South West with its towering forests, the ancient wilderness areas in our North, or the fascinating history and heritage to be discovered in the Goldfields.
