SeaPass Account Hold Charge

You may notice a temporary hold of $99.75 on the credit card your SeaPass card is linked to. The hold is used to secure funds for anticipated onboard purchases and will be released at the end of the sailing once your final charges are settled.

Safe Disposal of Medical Needles

Time Zone Change: One Hour Ahead

Our ship will be passing through an international time zone at 2:00 am, Monday, August 25, 2025. We’ll be switching our ship’s time to one hour back. Please remember to set your watches and devices accordingly. When in doubt, check the app for the correct ship time.

Safety 1-2-3

In compliance with our Youth Evacuation Plan, children will be given colored wristbands that correspond with their muster stations. In the event of an emergency, Youth Staff will escort all children participating in Adventure Ocean activities to their muster stations for reunification with their parents/guardians.

Children’s Personal Flotation Devices (PFD)

For the safety and wellbeing of children, children’s swimming pool personal flotation devices are available free of charge at the pool deck areas. Personal flotation devices (PFDs) are for use onboard the Independence of the Seas and cannot be taken off the ship.

Animal Sighting Advisory

Occasionally, animals may find their way onboard our ships. For your safety, if you encounter any animals onboard, it is prohibited to interact with or touch them. We ask that you please report any sightings or encounters to any of our Officers or Crew.

ONBOARD EXPENSE ACCOUNT

Setting Up Your Account

If you did not set up an account during Online Check-In or during boarding in the cruise terminal, you can do so in the Royal App or at the Guest Services Desk on Deck 5. Onboard Expense Accounts can be set up with a credit card, a debit card, or cash. Our ships utilize a cashless system, so your SeaPass card will be the only way to make purchases while onboard. Please note that a temporary hold of $99.75 USD will be placed on your card to verify funds. Onboard purchases over $100 USD will generate additional holds. The hold will be released within 3 to 5 business days after your cruise ends, but can take up to 30 days, depending on your bank. You may add other guests to your expense account by visiting the Guest Services desk. A daily limit can be placed on arcade spending. All charges can be viewed in the Royal Caribbean App. Printed receipts will be provided for each onboard purchase, and a preliminary statement will be delivered to your stateroom on the last morning of your cruise. A ﬁnal statement will be e-mailed to you within 24 hours of departing the ship on the last day of your cruise. Guests on a cash account will need to settle their account at Guest Services prior to disembarking the ship.

Specialty Dining Reservations

Specialty Dining reservations can be made through the Royal Caribbean App. You may also dial [7000] on your stateroom phone and select the restaurant you wish to dine in or visit the restaurant and make a reservation with the Maitre d' outside. The Maitre d' can also assist you with making changes to your seating.

Room Service

Continental breakfast is complimentary. Both the All-Day Menu and American Breakfast will have a delivery fee of $7.95 USD plus an 18% gratuity for each order. To view the menu, visit the Royal App or browse on the TV in your stateroom. When you’re ready to order, dial [7000] from your stateroom phone.

How much are gratuities?

If not already pre-paid, an $18.50 USD gratuity ($21.00 USD for Suite guests) is added to each guest's onboard account daily to help recognize superior service from crew during your cruise. This gratuity is shared among dining & culinary services staff, stateroom attendants, and other hotel services teams working behind the scenes. In addition to daily gratuities, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to all beverage, mini bar items, specialty dining, and spa & salon purchases.

Hamburg, Germany Port Information

The ship will dock in an industrial district of Hamburg in Europe’s third-busiest port at the Steinwerder cruise terminal, approximately 9 km / 5.5 miles from the city center. Guests can head into the city center by shuttle bus (approx. 45 minutes, depending on the traffic). The drop-off point is Kajen 1 (near Café Minah) in the center of the downtown area, opposite to Speicherstadt. A return ticket costsadults $25.00 per person; children $20.00 and can be purchased onboard. Shuttle tickets are available for sale in the Royal App or at Shore Excursion Desk on deck 5. Taxis are readily available at the terminal. There’s no public train station close by.

Local Port Agriculture Regulations

Local port regulations prohibit the addition or removal of agricultural items such as food, fruits, plants, flowers, sea shells, bulbs, and rocks to or from the ship.

Europe - High Volume Awareness

Ports visited often attract guests from other cruise lines and vacationers, leading to crowded sites, heavy traffic, and long lines at monuments and attractions with entrance fees. Please keep this in mind when exploring with Royal Caribbean or independently.

With your SeaPass card, you can check out as many towels needed after each new adventure. Make sure to bring your towel back by 5:00 pm on the last day of the sailing. A $25 USD replacement fee will be charged to your SeaPass card for each unreturned towel.

SeaPass Card Cash Limit

The credit limit for cash SeaPass cards is $500. Once this limit is reached, the account will be deactivated. To reactivate, a cash deposit is needed or simply link a credit card on the Royal App.

The cruise terminal is located approximately a 15 minute walk to the vibrant waterfront area, Aker Brygge, with high-end shopping and waterfront restaurants. Within 30 minutes’ walk you will reach the promenade street, Karl Johans Gate, where you will find the Royal Palace and the National Theater. In close proximity from there you will also find the City Hall and Akershus Fortress. Official currency is Norwegian Krone (NOK). Euro and US Dollar are rarely accepted.

Silent Port Regulation

When the ship is entering Norwegian city limits and while in port it is prohibited to do any loud activities on the open decks and to make announcements. The beauty of the landscape should be observed in silence.

The ship will dock in Oceankaj Cruise Terminal 1. Guests can head into the city center by shuttle bus (approx. 35 minutes). The drop-off point is next to Rosenborg Castle. Shuttle tickets are available in the Royal App or at Shore Excursion deck 5. Please follow the schedule on the ticket. Alternatively, guests can use public bus #25 that will be stopping in the terminal and will bring you to the metro Orientkaj St. from where you can start your journey. Tickets for the public bus can be purchased online or in the ticket machine next to the Tourist Information. Taxis are available at the pier.

As part of the UK Government's mission to protect the food sector and farmers, there are new emergency rules to protect the country from the threat of foot and mouth disease (FMD). While FMD poses no threat to humans, it is a highly contagious livestock disease that could devastate farm businesses, food security and the wider economy. The UK Government have significantly stepped up bio-security measures to protect from the risk of a potential outbreak. Individuals found violating these rules by bringing food, plants and meat back from abroad could face severe penalties, including fines of up to £5,000 in England.

Time Zone Change: One Hour Back

Our ship will be passing through an international time zone at 2 am on Monday, September 1, 2025. We'll be switching our ship's time to one hour back. Please remember to set your watches and devices accordingly. When in doubt, check the app for the correct ship time.

Getting Around in Bruges, Belgium

The terminal (located in a building called the ABC-Tower) has a variety of services, including transportation desk, public toilets, and a security checkpoint. Walking in or out of the port is forbidden because of safety reasons as a working port. The port authorities provide a port shuttle free of charge to the cruise terminal only. There are taxis available beyond the terminal entrance. Shore Excursion tour buses wait just beyond the ship’s gangway. There is also a separate shuttle service to/from Bruges for guests who wish to go to the city. Drop off point is next to tranquil park Bargeplein, from there it’s about 15-20 minute walk to the main street. A return ticket costs - adults $38.00 per person; children (ages 3-6) $20.00 and can be purchased onboard. Infants under 3 years are free of charge. Pier sales available only cash or credit cards. Transfer time is approximately 45 minutes.
