For the safety and wellbeing of children, children’s swimming pool personal flotation devices are available free of charge at the pool deck areas. Personal Flotation Devices (PFD) are for use onboard the Explorer of the Seas and cannot be taken off the ship.

In compliance with our Youth Evacuation Plan, children will be given colored wristbands that correspond with their muster stations. In the event of emergency, Youth Staff will escort all children participating in Adventure Ocean activities to their muster stations for reunification with their parents/guardians.

Tips for an easy departure

Here’s how to make your departure experience as seamless as possible. You can also check out channel 7 on your stateroom television for a video overview of this process.

We’ve implemented a more gradual flow for our departure process.



After you’ve enjoyed breakfast, please head back to your stateroom or designated departure lounge. If your departure time is before 8:00 am you may remain in your stateroom until departure is displayed on channel 2 of your stateroom television. If your departure time is after 8:00 am, please report to your designated departure lounge until your number is announced.



All guests have been assigned a specific departure group and time. We’ve done our best to schedule your departure at a convenient tifor you. Also you can see the status of your departure tag number by checking the way finding maps and digital screens throughout the ship. This is where our schedule will be continually updated. Please only depart the ship at your designated time.

Self-Assist Departure

Avoid the wait by keeping your entire luggage with you, when you leave your stateroom before 8:00 am. This option is available throughout the departure process, so you can wait in one of the designated areas after 8:00 am and leave with your entire luggage. Assigned departure times begin at approximately 8:00 am and end at 9:30 am.

Note: This option is not available for guests requiring wheelchair assistance or joining a Royal Caribbean shore excursion.

Departure morning

Your invoice will be emailed to you by the end of your cruise vacation

Don’t forget valuables stored in your stateroom safe and leave the safe door open.

Getting off the ship

Tune to channel 2 on your stateroom television for the departure assigned times.

If you are on a Royal Caribbean shore excursion, please refer to your tour ticket for departure time details.

Once your departure number is called, proceed from your stateroom or departure lounge to the gangway on Deck 4 with all your luggage. Taxis will be readily available outside the terminal.

Regular Departure

Take advantage of our luggage assistance provided on the night before departure. Assigned departure times begin at approximately 8:00 am and end at 9:45 am approximately.

Night before



If you are not choosing Self Assist Departure, leave your bags with luggage tags attached outside your door no later than 10:00 pm.

Keep travel documents, valuables, and essential medications with you.



Note: Guests requiring wheelchair assistance, on Royal Caribbean airport transfers, and shore excursions are required to check their bags the night before.

Getting off the ship



Once your departure number is called, proceed from your stateroom or departure lounge to the gangway on Deck 4.

If you are taking independent transportation, claim your baggage at the area identified by the number on your luggage tag at the terminal, then proceed to your transportation. Taxis will be readily available.

If you require wheelchair assistance, please meet in The Tavern on Deck 4 aft at your designated time. Wait time is approximately 30 minutes.

How do I close out my tab?

The credit card you provided at check in will be automatically charged. You can also add additional gratuities to your SeaPass at Guest Services or leave cash.

There will be a hold when you link your credit card to your onboard account. The hold is used to secure funds for anticipated onboard purchases and will be released at the end of the sailing once your final charges are settled.
