SPRING ISSUE OF HOBURNE LIFE.

Welcome back to Hoburne, and I hope like us, you are looking forward to a fantastic 2024 season. It certainly feels like it’s been a long, wet and dark winter, but change is in the air, and that glorious spring sunshine is finally here.

This is our first issue of the owner’s magazine for 2024, and there is plenty to update you on what’s been happening on the park over winter and what’s to come later this year. This winter has been extremely wet, and our grounds team has been working tremendously hard in all conditions to keep on top of the park, which hasn’t been an easy task. Despite that, longer days are coming, trees are blossoming, and Easter eggs are in the shops! This magazine is very much for our owners, and we want to hear from you. If you have something you wish to share with the magazine, then let us know. Grab a coffee and enjoy reading.

OWNER LISTENING SESSIONS

The next listening session will take place on 6th April

Sandra Mueller, Director of Operations, Brad Wyllie, General Manager and Susan Hunt, Park Manager will be available for small groups of owners to join them to talk about whatever is important to you. We will be listening intently to your feedback and following the session a summary of the topics discussed along with responses will be shared with all owners.

INVESTMENT IN NEW AREAS ON PARK

Our bigger and better soft play area is now open, after some renovations in January. We hope our youngest guests are even happier now.

We will be implementing a new one-way system in the areas of Rowan and Sycamore to improve safety and to preserve the grass verges. More information on the new routes will follow soon.

The work has been completed on our outdoor pool and will be ready to open in the middle of May. Roll on summer!

Our main car park has had a make-over which has increased the number of disabled bays and has widened our current bays.

WOODLAND UPDATE

We have been busy over the last few months revitalising the small woodland, we've replaced one bridge, with plans for another. We've also addressed overgrown brambles, disrupted the invasive privet hedge, and performed clearance work in the larger woodland to enhance pollinator corridors. Additionally, we've worked on oak tree maintenance for a healthier woodland and improved paths for better access.

TEAM PHOTOS

Our maintenance manager, Paul Clarke has recently been awarded his 25-year long service award for hoburne. I’m sure you will join us in offering your appreciation and congratulations.

Kamron who has been helping as an apprentice, has now passed his apprenticeship from Sparsholt College and has been employed by Bashley to continue his role. I know he will be an asset to Hoburne as he won not one, but two awards for apprentice of the year, one regionally with the New Forest Business Partnership and one nationally from Lantra Land Based Industries within the environmental and conservation category. This award was presented to Kamron by Adam Henson of Countryfile. We are all very proud of Kamron, he is already proving to be a great hire and he makes a good cup of tea!

Please feel free to drop into the woodland centre for a chat or to ask any questions you may have. Your input is valuable. Let’s see what spring may bring.

King prawn linguine with cherry tomatoes, broad beans and peas, finished with salsa verde and Winchester cheese.

This delicious recipe is featured on our new Spring menu. It was created by Milen, our head chef at Cotswolds and is a light pasta dish full of spring flavours.

The pasta recipe makes 2 portions. The salsa verde will make 10 portions, it freezes well, so you can keep the leftovers to use again within 2 months. It makes an excellent dip for nacho chips!

1. How long have you worked for Hoburne?

a. 3 years.

2. What has been your biggest achievement since working at Hoburne?

a. Getting to know all the owners and being a friendly face and the reception team coming 3rd place against all Hoburne parks for team of the year.

3. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

a. My parents used to own at Hoburne Naish, so I holidayed in the area as a child. I only moved to this area 3 years ago when I started this job.

4. When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?

a. I’m at Uni, so I spend a lot of time studying, I’m planning to be a teacher for children with special needs after I graduate. I enjoy playing Netball too.

5. Who is your favourite Sammy Squad character?

a. It’s got to be Sammy for me, I loved him the most when I was a child.

Hobr Bsy omowr

1. How long have you been a Hoburne holiday homeowner?

a. Not long. We bought in November 2023.

2. Why did you pick Hoburne Bashley?

a. We liked the area as it’s only an hour and 40 minutes from home, so we visited lots of parks in and around the area. We booked to stay at Bashley to see what we thought of it and to have a real experience. It has a lovely relaxing feel and just driving in and seeing the football pitch and the golf, plus having everything accessed from a central point was a great selling point. We are soon to be grandparents and the park feels really safe and secure too, which is a big thing for us.

3. What’s your favourite thing to do whilst staying at your holiday home?

a. At the moment, we’re enjoying long walks down by the beach and in the forest, followed by an even longer lunch and then a snooze! We’re looking forward to spending lots of special family time here too, as we become new grandparents later this year.

4. What do you love most about being a holiday homeowner?

a. We know we have a bolt hole to visit whenever we want to. We have 12 breaks booked in for us this year, ranging from 1 night to 12 nights. It’s fantastic to have it as a release tap to go down and chill and have a nice time. Sometimes we’ll travel down on a Friday evening for the weekend or even early on Saturday morning and arrive in time for breakfast.

5. What top tip would you give to a new Hoburne holiday homeowner?

a. Make sure you know what you want and to definitely spend some time on park before you commit. To get a feel for the place and see what the staff are like. The staff at Bashley are brilliant everyone from Sales to Entertainment, Bar and Reception are fantastic.
