“WE ARE NOT WORRIED. WE HAVE A VERY GOOD GROUP OF PLAYERS THAT HAVE GOT THE HUNGER TO WORK ON THESE AND PUT THEM RIGHT!” 2

THOUGHTS FROM THE DUGOUT
KEVIN WATKIN
Hopefully, with our first home fixture of the season this afternoon, we can get our first 3 points on the board. We face a tough Garstang team who visit us after 3 wins from 3 and following a summer filled with plenty of recruitment.
It is not the ideal start but after two tough away games, we are only 1 point worse off than we were last year; when we went out to be a very strong team finishing second and reaching a semi-final.

I’m hoping this becomes a kick-start to a good run of form and builds confidence. Getting back into the good habit of winning. Then we can look to push and achieve our targets for the season.
It has been a quick turnaround this summer after finishing our 2021/22 campaign in mid-May, to starting pre-season in mid-June; which has been a little disrupted by holidays for the lads after some years without. I think that has reflected a little in our opening two games. We have to take the positives from these games that we are creating chances and scoring goals, but we need to cut out some of the mistakes that have unfortunately cost us up to now. We are not worried. We have a very good group of players that have got the hunger to work on these and put them right!
Good afternoon, and welcome to Rakesmoor Lane for our first home fixture of the 2022/23 North West Counties First Divison North season against Garstang FC.

Formed in 1885, Garstang Football Club made steady progress in the early years. Then, under the guid ance of manager Keith Brindle, the First Team reached the Lancashire Amateur Shield final for two years in succession. The first final during the 1998/99 sea son, saw the team suffer defeat at the hands of Fulwood. However, the club bounced back the following year and secured the trophy with a victory over favourites Stand Athletic. In the 1999/00 season, they secured the President’s Cup with a thrilling sudden death penalty shootout victory and were promoted to the West Lancashire Pre mier Division as runners-up. Following the 2017/18 season, former players from the 2008 Championship winning side - Lee Baker and Neil Bees ley - were now in charge and the First team won the West Lancs Premier League and Cup double. In the same season, the club was also runners-up in The Lancashire Shield. After much hard work, it was confirmed Garstang had been accepted into The Hallmark Security League for the start of a new chapter.
