Foreword of the founder Fellow hunters, I suppose you all felt the sting of the Cecil drama? Independently of what the real facts are, we know that the media and the Zimbabwean government collaborated to make the hunters community look like criminals. Worse the airlines, which we have all supported with our travel to our elected hunting and fishing destinations, announced what were initially complete bans on the transport of trophy cargo. Fortunately some of our associations were quick in reacting and avoid a total stop on trophy shipments, but make no mistake the pressure of environmentalist on the airlines has been of such intensity that a normal service will never revert anymore. Safari Club International informs of some private initiatives to ship trophies from South Africa and Namibia which represent a valuable and enormous load of trophy cargo, but this should not be the norm! Hence I am pleading as many times before to join forces in genuine associations that are able as part of a larger structure to let the voice of 52 million hunters and 150 million fishermen to be heard on the international scene. The same international support is needed for rhino poaching in Southern Africa. I have personally be confronted with the problem as the proud owner of 18 black rhino’s. for the first time in Namibia, we were confronted this year with the intrusion of Chinese sponsored foreign poachers and at time of writing 68 rhinos have been poached in Namibia. Black rhinos are coming back from near extinction and through an active breeding program organized by the private sector with the government, numbers have grown back steadily. Unfortunately governments have not reacted

adequately and a lot of private initiatives have emerged which do not always bring solutions to the governmental inertia. Anti-poaching units, patrolling drones and the use of weapons are all touchy subjects for young African democracies to handle and definitely some foreign unbiased expertise would be valuable to eradicate the problem. The next Cites Convention in Johannesburg September 2016 will be pivotal to the future of international hunting especially for the Big Five. Without the hunters and hunting, these animals could be illegally poached into extinction by human neglect. Again I plead for a strong voice of our community. In 1975 the South African governments decided to give the ownership of the game to the owners of the property they were on. Since wildlife has grown tenfold! Why? The owners were interested in the progress of their game as they could with good management make it a profitable and sustainable business proposition. Nowhere else in the world have we seen such a growth rate for game! All this to tell you my dear fellow hunter and fisherman that our passion is making this nature thrive, but to achieve this goal we have to put our money where our mouth is and actively contribute and support the people that are defending our fundamental rights to freedom out there‌ Bruno van Marcke

Medstugan Hunting Lodge is located in north-west Jämtland, Sweden, close to the Norwegian border. This incredible building dates from 1896 and was originally intended to provide accommodation for hunters from other continents and for the nobility. Hunt & Fish Namibia Namibia Hunting the Kalahari dunes and Namib Desert South of Windhoek we own two hunting territories, each very representative of their specific biotopes. The Kalahari property features a combination of 74 sequential red sand dunes with the equivalent number of valleys stretching each over a kilometre wide. It is an amazing sensation to hunt in such countryside, as each dune hides a new spectacle of animals grazing in the next valleys. Here you can hunt mostly grazers such as springbok, gemsbok and wildebeest, all medal quality. Again accommodation can be provided in three different types of camps: the luxurious safari lodge with fivestar facilities such as pool, spa and restaurant; the comfortable bungalow of the hunting camp with its magic lapa and boma; or finally, real bush life in a tented camp. A few hours westward, we have our Namib desert property, which again is a totally different view from the Kalahari. Montana-like grass plains contrast with the red hills, which seem imported from Arizona. Hunting tactics change 100%, since here the hunter and the animals have little space to hide. So far our accommodation is in our dune hotel near Sossusvlei, 40 minutes away, from which we organise fly-camps on the property. All game here is natural resident game.

You do not need to be an expert though, but let’s just say that the size of your shark will be determined by your patience and wisdom during this fight and not by strength or technique. Once the shark has been hooked, the pro will guide you on how to haul the catch in. If you want to change to edible fish for a day, you can catch big cobs as well as some locals, such as steenbras, galjoen or snoek. For the youngsters, the smaller sharks such as spotted gully shark are a good initiation before tackling the real stuff. Fishing the mighty Zambezi and the mysterious Okavango There are different ways to discover the unspoiled beauty of the Caprivi strip, locked-in between the Okavango and Zambezi rivers. They provide the perfect backdrop for some of the most unforgettable fishing experiences imaginable. We elected to build a lodge along the Okavango near Popa Falls. The fishing takes place up- or downstream from the lodge, guided by an experienced fisherman in a small but safe outboard boat. The main attraction is obviously the tigerfish; people travel the world just to fight this prehistoric-looking fish. Other species are different sorts of bream or buddle fish, and the area is also home to two rare fish species: the broadhead catfish and occelated spinyeel. Non-fishing activities include game drives into the Mgango game reserve or Caprivi National Park and boat trips on the river to view hippos and crocodiles. In contrast, the Zambezi has a lot more people living along its shores. A few years ago, we started to charter a houseboat in order to organise our fishing trips onto the river from this base. Experience taught us that the houseboat provided flexibility to move up and downstream, depending on fish density. Our success rate also went up tremendously. Although houseboat life is quite a different experience, all our guests just love it.

Rovos Train Luxury Hunting Safaris South Africa, Zimbabwe & Botswana Join us aboard Rovos Rail’s Pride of Africa, a restored 1920s vintage Edwardian train. Algar Safaris Patagonia, Argentina The majestic Red Stag is the most demanded trophy in our area and we are proud to say we offer the unique “Monster” red stags, which roam free and are found in abundance. We also offer Fallow deer, Axis deer, Pere David’s deer (gold medal), Feral Oxen, Mouflon sheep, Somali Ram, Black Jacob’s ram, Patagonian Dall, Patagonian Ram, Multi-horned sheep, Wild goat, Balearean Boc, Puma, Russian Boar and blackbuck antelope. Hunts can be conducted on horseback or 4WD vehicles, depending on the hunters preference, horsemanship and physical ability. Final approach is done on foot. Hunters may expect to stalk around 10-12 km. per day and it implies light hiking on relatively flat terrain. We encourage bow hunters to hunt at Algar as they will find this country vast and open, making it easy to spot game from high vantage points. The hunting field and the hilly terrain is really broken with ravines and streams all around the scene where the animals come down looking for water to drink and pasture the valley which runs about 20 km through the center of the property. The tall grasses and bushes make the perfect camouflage for bow hunters’ activity. Bow hunters can shoot from 30 to 70 meters distance.

Trap and Colambaire pigeons, plus clay targets are available within the 245 acres of tropical woodland of Casa de Campo. The three trap layouts, skeet and 200 station-sporting layout including the 110 foot tower are not to be missed. Quail, doves and game birds outside the complex at the beautifully wild and hilly country that makes up the 10,000acre game shoot at Ranch Peligro. I arrived at Rincon de los Matreros, to know the hunting lodge. It is important to say that I am not a hunter. I came to chat with my friends. Arriving, two things called the attention to me. First, the gorgeous cinematographic landscape, and second, the way I was received by the owner and his staff. Elegant and likeable. They all had a lot of patience to teach to me how to shoot. At dusk they took me to the blind. After awhile while I was thinking in life, a male appears, five females and two young ones. Do you want to shoot?, asked Guima to me. I didn’t even think about it, I pointed and a detonation was heard and the male wild boar fell dead. I was applauded, saluted. I felt at that time, acceptance by the club of hunters... For Big Game hunting, two different methods are used to hunt: Stalking and Still-standing, in a 10000 Acres estate. Guides are all local and will guide clients on a 1x1 basis and know every acre of Amakela.

Stalking will provide an unforgettable experience. The grounds are flat with vegetation that will hide you but enable you to reach the game. Standing still will be in special hides 7 to 9 feet over the ground. There you can wait for the game enjoying the sounds of the night... The day starts an hour before sunrise, after a good breakfast. The time we come back to the lodge depends on the success of the hunt, but around 11:30 am. The international chef will be waiting with appetizers and an incredible meal at the lodge. After lunch, the hunter can choose between a nap and a dove hunt, 10 minutes drive from the lodge. Afternoon big game hunt starts 3 hours before sunset. Veracruz Lodge Santa Fe, Argentina Mixed bag hunting Veracruz is a cosy, thatched-roofed lodge with the most spectacular view, which makes a wonderful setting to spare and relax after enjoying the best shooting ever. The lodge offers 5 bedrooms with private bathrooms, and can accommodate 10 guests. While you are at the ranch, it is yours to enjoy, from the comfortable living room with its inviting fireplace, to the dining room offering beautiful views of open fields and the Parana River shore The Shooting AtAt Veracruz you can hunt different species of ducks depending on the time of the year, the rosy billed and whistling ducks being the most common, along with some teals. Duck shooting features comfortable and well camouflaged blinds; quality specie-speciďŹ c decoys and guides who will place you where you need to be to get the kind of duck hunting you’ve only dreamed of until now. The shooting occurs on the shores of San Javier Rivers, over some of the hundreds of islands or over rice fields. time of the year and the behavior of the birds (scouted every day), the time to get to the blinds will be from 20 minutes to an hour, including car or boat ride. Shooting over decoys starts at first light and continues until 10 am or after. Flocks of 20 or 30 ducks are not rare. Most days, duck hunters return to the lodge for lunch and a siesta before afternoon departure at about 3pm for evening duck hunts. Evening hunts last until dark. Perdiz over dogs is a great choice to hunt. They are fast and challenging. Britain’s or German shorthair dogs hunt with us. Duck and perdiz shooting can be exchanged for Dove shooting, making the hunting diverse. Dorado Fishing is a great and fun sport. The river scenery is phenomenal. We fish in shallow water with current. Lots of different fish can be caught like stingray and Piranhas. We will use bait or fly rods depending on your request. Catch and release is what we do.

Bettws Hall United Kingdom The Brigands has been in the Bettws Hall portfolio since 2002 and has firmly established itself as one of the highest pheasant shoots in the UK. It is located in the Dovey Valley on the edge of Snowdonia National Park and it is this natural topography that lends itself to presenting pheasants at the pinnacle of what is deemed reachable with a shotgun. The Brigands regularly finds itself in the Top 10 shoots in the UK and once you have experienced the shooting, you will see why. The Red bandits attacked and robbed travellers in the border area of the Welsh Marches are best known for the murder of the Sheriff of Meirionnydd, Baron Lewis Owen on 12 October 1555. The restoration of the Inn was undertaken sympathetically with the history and preservation of the atmosphere of utmost importance. Bettws Hall United Kingdom Chargot lies in the heart of the West Country in Somerset’s Bredon Hills on the edge of the Exmoor National park. A shoot which needs little introduction as it is historically synonymous with the best pheasant and partridge shooting in Britain. The shoot itself has forged a reputation as one of the most iconic high bird shoots in the UK, largely in part to its seemingly bottomless, steep sided valleys. Seeing really is believing at Chargot as there is valley upon valley of perfect shooting topography which in turn presents quite astoundingly sporting birds. Game shooting followers have consistently voted Chargot as one of the top ten shooting venues in the UK. Tall and testing would be the best way to describe the birds on drives such as Spitfire, Unbelievable and Melanie’s. Chargot has been part of the Bettws hall stable since 2009. Bettws Hall United Kingdom Gregynog Hall is an imposing Grade 1 listed Jacobean mansion which has stood for over 800 years. Situated far from any city yet completely embedded in the heart of Welsh history, art and politics. By the 16th century it was the home of the Blayney family, local gentry who claimed descent from the early Welsh princes and whose courage and benevolence were praised by the court poets. For hundreds of years Gregynog Hall was one of Montgomeryshire’s leading landed estates, at the heart of the community and the local economy. The Blayney squires gave way to the Lords Sudeley, then Lord Joicey. After several hundred years of private ownership, in 1913 a huge estate sale saw Gregynog’s farms, cottages and woodlands sold off, many to their tenants. Gregynog Hall might have been demolished had not the wealthy Davies sisters acquired it in 1920 to become the headquarters of their enterprise to bring art, music and creative skills to the people of Wales in the aftermath of the First World War. Gregynog was recently awarded the status of National Nature Reserve, as well as previously being designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

This drive finds the gun line stretched out in the huge wern (or valley) that makes up the majority of the shoot. The wooded bank some distance in front seems almost vertical and the majestic winter light breaks through the treeline on the horizon. Pheasants flush from the rhododendrons tucked under the age old oaks on the crest of the hill and make for home at phenomenal heights, leaving both guns and onlookers speechless. Drives such as ‘Forest Lodge’ and ‘Llanfair Wood’ present tall pheasants driven from game crop and a mixture of woodland towards guns that are located in deep valleys to ensure birds reach the line at high altitude. Bettws Hall United Kingdom Molland has been the family home to the Throckmorton’s for over 800 years and lies in the depths of shooting country in Devon on the southerly boundary of Exmoor. Molland translates as ‘Land of bare hills’ though that does not do justice to the most beautiful landscape that will delight your eyes today. All aspects of biodiversity can be found here – woodland, moorland and wetland along with the varied wildlife that inhabit these environments. The Exmoor National park is also home to a large volume of the UK’s red deer population, and it is not unusual to see these magnificent beasts around the shoot when standing in anticipation of the hard flying pheasant and partridge, after all it was historically a stag hunting estate. The topography alters dramatically over the 5,000 acres that encompasses the Molland estate. The shoot itself is made up of a series of valleys, laid out like fingers on a hand. As a result, the backdrop for the various drives is extraordinary. Each valley is steep and offers a different way of going for both partridge and pheasant. Drives like Folly and Dipper offer the most exhilarating partridges. While the pheasants from drives like Gourt and Inkwell can test all abilities and challenge even the greatest of game shots.

We generally shoot three drives in the morning with a break between each for champagne and damson gin with delectable warming nibbles. Bettws Hall United Kingdom Vaynor Park is a traditional parkland shoot set in Montgomeryshire in Mid Wales. Home to the Corbett-Winder family for generations, William Corbett-Winder can still be found hosting days on this truly stunning estate. The road rises up from the gatehouse in the valley bottom through traditional parkland and eventually reaches the summit. It is here that you are graced with your first glimpse of the 15th century Hall sitting proudly over its grounds. The Victorian Mansion originally built of timber and stone was rebuilt in brick in 1640. Two centuries later John Lyon Winder asked the Montgomeryshire County Surveyor, Thomas Penson, to rebuild the house again, in Jacobean style. The views of the surrounding countryside are far reaching and simply stunning. A typical day will begin with the guns enjoying a leisurely breakfast in our sporting lodges. The team will then assemble in the courtyard and begin the very short drive to the Vaynor estate where tea and coffee will be served. It is here that pegs will be drawn and the order of the day will be revealed before proceeding to the morning drives. As with all of our estates, hospitality matches the sport, so Champagne and canapĂŠs precede a wonderful home cooked lunch back at the lodge before the afternoon shooting commences.

You and a tracker/dog handler hunt alone over large areas, waiting for the dog to find the moose. The 4 of us stalked into position, as 8 Water Buffalo were feeding this way. We had spotted them about 300m out, and clearly the Bull was a huge one, thick, heavy and perhaps 47” spread. They slowly fed closer, all was good, but the bull was at the back. It seamed like 20 minutes, but 2 cows came closer, and the Bull to the right now. When their heads were down, Jean Philippe and I moved fast, getting closer and closer 60m, 50m.... Then a cow spooked, JP was ready and settled the 416 Rigby sight on the shoulder. Boom, the Buffalo was down, perfect.. But not today, he sprang back to his feet and took off after the herd, two more quick shots through thick trees, a direct hit on a tree, and a direct hit on the Bull, he was knocked over again at about 120m, and by the time we caught up, he just needed a finishing shot. What a great hunt, every hunt is different, our calm and steady plan worked..!! but often the plan turns to quick thinking and some running. We admired such a beautiful, tough and very old Buffalo bull... a younger one will take his place. Central Arnhem Land Is Genuine Wilderness: We specialize in Australia’s best Buffalo hunting with 4x highly productive NLC licensed concessions of 840,000HA (2.5million acres). Large herds of Water Buffalo, some Scrub Bull (wild ox) and occasional Wild Boar. The grassy plains, rolling hills, streams and rivers in fertile valleys produce excellent and wide 90-105 SCI Buffalo bulls because of the open Savana. Australia’s No1 Banteng Hunting: The previous evening we saw about 25 Banteng, and about 6 were nice bulls. Setting of at sunrise, after 1km we observed a very big Banteng, his horns were thick, wide and curved up, most are quite straight. He lay down, half behind a tree. But 15m to his left was another bull. So our stalk was long and careful as not much cover... We made it as close as we could, about 90m. The hunter settled for the shot. “I’ll aim for the shoulder, but what if I hit the tree..?” “Just shoot again” I urgently whispered.!!.. The New 98 Mauser 416 Rigby with open sights settled and fired, clipping the tree.. The Bull took off to the right running at full steam, but an excellent second shot nailed him, down he went in a pile of dust.. awesome... but the other Banteng bull ran flat out between us, and then past 2 of the lady observers.. Laurentian Wildlife Estate New York, USA For the past few years Laurentian Wildlife Estate has been partners with an exclusive whitetail hunting estate nestled in the heart of the Hudson River Valley 70 Miles north of Manhattan New York. This partnership allows hunters to combine the best Elk, Red Stag and Whitetail hunting in North America. Rifles are provided on site so as to make the trip as convenient as possible. It is only a six hour drive or a short flight to get from one property to the other. The estate is rolling hardwood forested hills with meadows spread throughout. Hunting season is 1st of September through the end of November with the peak of the rut the two first weeks of November. Depending on the season and weather most of the hunting will be spot and stalk, this is combined with some hunting from stands. The property is very well set up for bow hunting and each year about 50% of the trophies are taken with a bow or crossbow. Any avid deer hunter should experience Whitetail hunting. A brand new lodge was completed in 2015 to accommodate hunters. Everyone will be catered to by a full time staff and meals will be prepared by the chef during the stay. Everything is very carefully managed so that everyone has the best experience possible during their stay.

Il faut 6 heures de voiture ou un court trajet en avion pour rejoindre les deux propriétés. Cette solution permet aux chasseurs, s’ils le désirent, de combiner en un séjour les meilleures chasses de wapitis, de cerfs élaphes et de cerfs de Virginie. Le territoire se situe en basse montagne, sur un terrain de grandes forêts parsemées de cultures à gibier. La chasse est principalement à l’affut, mais elle peut aussi se faire à l’approche. Cette chasse convient également particulièrement bien aux chasseurs à l’arc. En effet, chaque année, à peu près 50% des trophées sont récoltés à l’arc ou à l’arbalète. La saison de chasse est ouverte du 1er Septembre à fin Novembre et le rut se déroule les deux premières semaines de Novembre. Tout amateur de chasse au chevreuil appréciera particulièrement l’expérience du cerf de Virginie.

Spring and Fall Hunts on Vancouver Island: Spot-and-stalk hunts for Black Bear and Roosevelt Elk Our 7800 square kilometer exclusive hunting territory is located along the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island. The area has over 50 grizzly-free salmon river valleys where the Black Bear feed in the Fall. The Black Bear hunting here is unsurpassed due to superior genetics and the densest populations of Black Bear per square kilometer of anywhere in North America. There are no other locations that have better success rates, sizes or ages of bears harvested. Vancouver Island is also well-known as the premier destination for pure Roosevelt Elk. We consistently produce record book bulls. We also offer Coastal Wolf as an add-on animal for a trophy fee on early Spring Black bear hunts, as well as Sitka Deer on the Fall hunts. A second Black Bear may be taken on a trophy fee basis. We limit the number of hunters we book to ensure that every hunter has the best possible hunting experience. On the Spring Black Bear hunts we prefer to book just two hunters per hunt date who will take two bears each, but we will take a maximum of four hunters per hunt date if requested. In the Fall we only take one or two hunters per hunt date. Roosevelt Elk hunts are limited to two hunters per season.
