Pets are not permitted in any sand areas. All pets must remain on-leash while on BridgeMill property.

No food and beverage is allowed on the basketball and volleyball courts except in plastic sports bottles.

What is Pickleball and why you should try it?

Pickleball started in Washington State in the mid 1960’s and was a west coast sport for many years. Today, it is played in every state and is the fastest growing sport in America.

Pickleball is played on a badminton-sized court (⅓ the size of a tennis court) with smooth paddles and a special whiffle-type plastic ball. SPECIALTY GROUP FITNESS Specialty group fitness programs are short term (4-8 week) sessions that are goal specific and include an added personal experience.

CARDIO/STRENGTH CIRCUIT CLASS

Mondays 7:00pm and Thursdays 9:00am with Andrea.

This cardio/strength, small group class is held in the cardio weight room. It is performed in a circuit format that moves from cardio vascular machines to weight machines. The class is designed for all fitness levels to tone muscles and increase meta- bolic function for more calories burned over a longer period of time. GAME OF THE MONTH- NINES – 5-3-1- 3 MAN GAME After your contentious match last weekend where Bryan’s driver was tomahawked over your group’s heads, you find yourself one player down and need a game to keep your interest. It's tough to find good games for three players but this one might be the best. There is a total of nine points available on each hole (a point has a predetermined dollar amount). The player with the low score on a hole gets five points. The player with the second-lowest score gets three. And the worst score on a hole gets one. If there are ties, you simply divide the points by the number of players tied. For example, two players tie for the best score on a hole. That means they split the first- and second-place points (5+3/2=4 apiece).

8 INCH CUP FOR A CAUSE UPDATE October 26th Our most popular and fun-filled event of the year, the 8 Inch Cup for a Cause, provides the BridgeMill MGA an opportunity to honor its pledge to actively pursue a philanthropic endeavor in the community. As many of you are aware, we suffered a tragic loss this year with the death of Luke Maurer. Luke’s Father, Dan, is an active part of our golf community and the MGA is honoring Luke’s memory by joining forces with Cherokee FOCUS. Cherokee FOCUS is a 501(c)3 collaborative that exists to improve the lives of the children and families of Cherokee County.

The collaborative is a partnership of organizations, agencies civic clubs, the faith-based community, law enforcement, business, education, families and individuals.

We’re also continuing our affiliation with the Cherokee County Special Olympics.

ALTA LEAGUE DEADLINES All winter ALTA roster deadlines – October 18th. This includes Mixed and Senior Mixed Doubles Players on BridgeMill league teams must be Tennis or Golf members in good standing. FALL JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM The junior program at BridgeMill is designed to meet the needs of all our junior players starting at age 5 and up and recreational to advanced tournament players. The goal of our program is to instill a love for the game of tennis in our youth. We encourage and foster a healthy, active lifestyle that players carry with them throughout their lives. Our program is divided into categories based on ability and age.

All programs focus on proper stroke development, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness at an age and level appropriate manner.

EXCEL FUTURE STARS – DEVELOPMENT GROUPS 5-7 years – This group is for our youngest juniors with little or no tennis experience. Our goal in the program is to help children learn and enjoy the game of tennis while improving their overall athletic skills. We focus on basic motor skills like throwing, catching, running and jumping but also learn fundamental racket skills. Classes are 45 minutes.

8-11 years - These classes are for juniors with little or no tennis experience. We focus on developing athletic skills, fundamental stokes and learning how to play points and keep score. Classes are 1 hour Development groups will begin the week of September 9th.

Class schedule will be available in the Tennis Pro Shop.

12-16 years – This group is for players with little or no experience. Players will be taught every shot, how to score, how to play a match. This group is great for those aspiring

to play on their high school teams and know what they are doing. 6 week commitment. Check with the Tennis Pro Shop for the next session start date.

EXCEL ACADEMY The Academy group is for intermediate to advanced players, ages 11 & up, who are committed to improving their game. This high energy group of players is striving to play tournaments, high school tennis or working to get a college scholarship. The Head Coach of the academy is Jennifer Pourchier who is also the Head Coach for the Reinhardt University tennis teams! One unique benefit of this is that Academy players often get to hit and train with the college players! Players are divided by ability level and age.

Drills focus on proper strokes, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness. The group meets Monday and/or Wednesday from 5:00-7:00pm. Sessions start the week of August 5.

Together, we can make a difference

Happy Fall Y’All! Yes, it is still warm in North Georgia, but that does not keep the BridgeMill Sixes Service League (BSSL) from coming together every month to plan activities and events to raise money for Cherokee County charities.

Our Golf FORE Charity was a big success thanks to the leadership of Aaron and Lynn Weimer and their group of volunteers.

These ladies and gentlemen came together to plan an event that raised money for the charities that we support and for that we are so grateful to BridgeMill Athletic Club and all of the golfers that came together to make this day a memorable one.

Give a Kid a Chance (GAKAC) is one of the charities that our club has supported for years. This year, chaired by Lynn Weimer, we packed 200 hygiene bags. These bags were given out on Saturday July 13th at The First Baptist Church of Canton along with a backpack filled with the school supplies needed for success in the upcoming new school year. See photos below of the groups that were responsible for packing the bags and passing them out. It takes a lot of volunteers to reach success with our events and our club has the best members that are always ready to come forward to lend a hand.

BRIDGEMILL SIXES SERVICE LEAGUE Over the summer we also packed 2500 lunches for the Summer Lunch Program. Led by Susan Gaines, Linda Emore, and Judy West, our members, friends, family members, and neighbors gathered every other week to pack 500 lunches for children of our community.

August 15th was our monthly meeting after a short summer break in June and July. President Julie Rosenberg led the meeting as we discussed the many events coming up in the next few months.
