Scoop

Friday, September 28th | 1:00pm to 2:00pm at The Terrace

Join us for some delicious healthy smoothies provided compliments of BridgeMill Athletic Club and Harvest Moon Natural Market to learn and experience more about Brain Mapping and Treatment including tests for ADD/ADHD, Depression to Alzheimer's, and everything in between. Presented by Dr. David Lee and BridgeMill Wellness Register by calling 770.345.2990 by Friday 9/21.

BRAIN MAPPING with Dr. David Lee EXACTLY WHAT IS BRAIN MAPPING? Brain Mapping is a groundbreaking approach incorporating state-of-the art technology and our professionally trained staff utilizing neurofeedback to improve the quality of your brain cells. WHO CAN BENEFIT? Neurofeedback is recommended for people with neurological and nervous conditions. Here is a list of symptoms that are shown in research studies to be clinically responsive to neurofeedback: ADD/ADHD ANGER MANAGEMENT AUTISM BRAIN INJURY DEPRESSION EPILEPSY/SEIZURES INSOMNIA MEMORY LOSS OCD/TOURRETTE'S STRESS/PTSD SLEEP DISORDERS SUBSTANCE ABUSE

ADDICTION ANXIETY BIPOLAR DISORDER CHRONIC PAIN DYSLEXIA FIBROMYALGIA LYME DISEASE MIGRAINES PARKINSON'S SCHIZOPHRENIA STROKE ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE

HOW IT WORKS ... Using a cap placed on the scalp, our software captures the electrical impulses in the brain. The results show brain wave patterns in different parts of the brain, and the data is then converted into a visual brain map report. We analyze the brain map report and identify any problem areas. You will then receive your own "Protocol" to help with your specific problem area. During your Protocol Session, new neuropathways will be created through the efforts of computer generated, patient specific protocols of alternating lights and sound waves. Thru this process, you will be retraining your brain to operate optimally. Call the Fitness Center for more information, or to make your appointment 770.345.2990

PEMF

We are proud to offer PEMF therapy to our members. Relax, renew and improve your health state with PEMF Tensegrity. PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) Tensegrity rebuilds your old cells and releases dead tissue in your body. The therapy will help heal your body while you are comfortable and relaxed. The therapy delivers a radiation free, non-thermal magnetic pulse into the cells, the stimulating healing allowing repair if damaged diseased tissue. Through the natural process of aging, cells lose their ability to maintain full charge, resulting in declining health. With PEMF your health will be restored to its highest state. Call 770.345.2990 to learn more about this and all other wellness services available to you at BridgeMill Athletic Club. 770. 3 4 5. 550 0

BRIDGEMILL WELLNESS BridgeMill Members, please take advantage of our Kangen Water Purification System located at the Fitness CenterContainers are available for purchase Kangen Water® is delicious water created from Enagic's innovative water technology. Not only do these devices filter your tap water, but they also produce ionized alkaline and acidic waters through electrolysis. These waters can be used for various purposes, including drinking, cooking, beauty, and cleaning. Here is a list of benefits from Kangen website: @BridgeMillWellness Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for all the most up to date BridgeMill announcements.

HYDRATION AND DRINKABILITY Ionized alkaline water is an excellent source of healthful hydration because not only does it taste better with a superior mouth-feel, it is more readily absorbed by the body. This increases the “drinkability” of water by reducing the usual feeling of being “bloated” from drinking the recommended daily allowance of 8 glasses per day. In side-by-side tests, most people can taste the difference!

MICRO CLUSTERING Preliminary studies have evidenced a phenomenon identified as “micro clustering” which refers to the exceptionally small “structured” molecules of alkaline water. Numerous benefits have been associated with this phenomenon.

FREE RADICAL SCAVENGING Ionized alkaline water supports the wellness of bodily organs while promoting the health of those same organs. Part of the reason for these benefits is that ionized alkaline water has been demonstrated to be an antioxidant free radical scavenger.

page 6 | september 2018

DIANE ALLEN bridgemillwellness@hmsgolf.com 732.939.6404 cell

ENCOURAGING LONGEVITY Scientifically recognized benefits of water include the support of wellness and longevity. The natural benefits of water are encouraged and enhanced by alkalinity. Alkalinity is the state in which water is most harmonious with its physiological wellness benefits.

DETOXIFICATION Water is the universal solvent that our bodies rely on for flushing toxins and waste products from the body. With its negative oxidation reduction potential (ORP) and great taste, you can count on ionized alkaline water such as Kangen Water® to aid in the neutralization of free radicals and address all of your body’s hydration needs.

Meet Holly Williams Research shows that about 1 out of every 3 children in the US is overweight. Unhealthy diet paired with an inactive lifestyle can affect a child’s health both now and in the future. In today’s high-tech society, many children and teens are spending multiple hours per day in front of a screen watching TV, playing video games, or using cell phones and other electronic devices for entertainment. Too much screen time may adversely affects a child’s weight, muscle and bone development, posture, neck alignment, eye function, overall selfesteem and can also contribute to other health concerns. The American Heart Association recommends that children age 2+ participate in at least 30-60 minutes of enjoyable physical activity 3-5 days a week to improve health and well-being now, but also to benefit health later in life. Active children are more likely to grow up to become active adults, and increasing a child’s activity level will do much more than just improve physical health. Incorporating more time getting regular exercise can decrease anxiety and depression and increase self-image and promote better behavior choices. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and taught first and third grade for a few years before having three children of my own. A few years later I decided to focus more of my attention on health and wellness and became a personal trainer. I have always strived to live a healthy, active lifestyle, and my passion is to help others learn the value of making exercise and healthy behaviors an essential part of their lives. We are so fortunate here in BridgeMill to have such a great community of fitness enthusiasts where physical activity is created and fostered through tennis, golf, swimming, exercise classes, and more. I currently organize and teach three weekly KIDFIT classes at the Fitness Center and offer a Kids Fitness Night once a month. I incorporate cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and flexibility into the classes while promoting a fun and safe environment so the children learn that getting fit can be fun and rewarding. As BridgeMill’s Children’s Fitness Director, I look forward to working with you to help get our youth fit and healthy and to promote their forever well-being. Please continue to check your monthly newsletter for new and upcoming KIDFIT opportunities!!!

bridgemill sixes service league The BridgeMill Sixes Service League started our season back up on Thursday, August 16th. Our president, Julie Rosenberg led the meeting by introducing our board of officers and chairladies of our committees. We had a special round of applause for Susan Gaines, Linda Emore, and Judy West as these three ladies headed up our Summer Lunch Program. This summer, we met every other week to make lunches for children in our community. We made over 2500 lunches this summer. Thank you for all the volunteers who helped us put the lunches together. It is a huge effort. We also recognized Lynn Weimer who organized our Give A Kid A Chance backpack program. Lynn and the BSSL gathered toiletries and school supplies, packed them, and distributed them to children in Cherokee County during the Give a Kid a Chance event. These are two very large summer projects and our club is so fortunate to have a team of volunteers that step forward every year to make sure each task is complete.

BSSL Bingo Fundraiser will be held on Friday October 19th at 7:00pm. Let’s play Bingo! The cost to participate will be $20 and this activity is open to all ages 15 and up. Come, bring a friend, and play bingo for charity! Be on the lookout for additional information and you can also contact us if you would like to participate. This is a fun activity you will not want to miss! Annual Fall Food Drive- It is hard to believe it is almost that time of year again. Our annual food drive will be coming up in the next month. We will be delivering bags to all of the Bridgemill mailboxes and we are asking that you help us fill the bags with food items. We will pick up the filled bags the following Saturday. All donations are delivered to MUST Ministries and used to help Cherokee County families during the holiday season. We appreciate all your donations. Additional information will be provided in our October article.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, September 20th 7:00pm at The Terrace at BridgeMill For additional information regarding the BridgeMill Sixes Service League (BSSL), please contact our president, Julie Rosenberg at 770-354-5772. Together We Can Make A Difference
