KID FIT SPOTLIGHT Brantley and Lakelyn Archer

The Kidfit Spotlight stars for this month are Brantley and Lakelyn Archer. They have been participating in this fitness program for over a year. They come to class with big smiles and always ready to participate in the fitness fun with their friends.

It’s wonderful to see their excitement for exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle at their young ages. Brantley’s favorite exercise is kickbacks (also known as burpees). As a result she has gotten much stronger. She enjoys classes because she loves to exercise and have fun. Lakelyn loves jumping rope and her skills with the rope have greatly improved. She works hard and is motivated to increase her number of jumps. She likes attending classes because of the fitness games and Ms. Holly.

Keep up your passion for staying healthy and “kidfit” strong girls! It’s a pleasure to have you in our kidfit elementary program.

BARRACUDAS UNDEFEATED SEASON RESULTS IN DIVISION CHAMPS

The Bridgemill summer swim team captured the Division Title with an undefeated season. The coaching staff contributes the success as a combination of “PBJ’s ( Personal Best Journey) fortified by unbreakable camaraderie. The members of this swim team were reminded to be on their own journey of “personal bests”, and to encourage their teammates to do their best. The cheers from comrades were often the extra push needed to win the race.

The post-season showcased several swimmers surpassing their personal bests and even setting new records. Representatives of the Bridgemill Barracudas attended the Georgia State Championships and the GRPA State Championship .

The post-season successes of a swim team lay the future for the future of the swim team. Each victory and personal best inspires the next generation to aim higher. Two standouts were Jake Guarlick and Findley Chambliss.

Jake, won every race in the regular season, and will be advancing to the State Games of America in 2024. Findley won the State title in the 25 butterfly , the first Bridgemill representative to capture gold at the GRPA State meet.

Summer swim team is a fast season of lasting memories, transcending the realm of swimming strokes to build character and instilling the importance of perseverance, sportsmanship and lifelong skills.

Meet the LGA…Donna, Cleo and Joyce

DONNA HANSON

Hi, my name is Donna Hanson. I started playing golf about 3 years ago with the encouragement of my Husband, Jeff.

We have 3 grown adults and 5 grandkids. We have lived in BridgeMill for 9 years and have enjoyed meeting such great people here. I have been blessed with experiencing courses in Ireland and Scotland with my husband and BridgeMill friends.

My goal for this year is to enjoy every tournament I enter and to play to the best of my ability. My favorite hole on the course is 16. I find it challenging and rewarding. I got my first birdie there and actually got emotional. I am going to continue to play and experience beautiful courses during my retirement.

CLEO HUTCHINS

My name is Cleo Hutchins and I have been a BridgeMill resident for 13 years. We have 2 children who both live in Canton. My true love of golf began 36 years ago when my friend convinced me to give the sport a try.

My husband Al, who loves to drive, has been my golf partner all these years. We love to take spontaneous trips to discover new courses.

My goal with golf has always been focused on having fun and playing consistently, but I try to keep my putting under 3. After 18 holes you will find me with a Coke Zero in hand.

JOYCE GONZENBACH

My name is Joyce Gonzenbach. My husband, Gary, and I moved here from Columbus, IN in 2015. I remember the first time I played at BridgeMill on ladies day. It was a very cloudy day. I hot up and put on my “big girl pants” and drove to the course. Only 3 other ladies showed up and we played 9 holes until it rained. We had lunch and laughed and drank the afternoon away. Since then my friendships have deepened and expanded in the LGA.

My claim to fame is a hole in one at BridgeMill #5 and one at Lake Arrowhead #13. I was an inch away from one at Towne Lake! My goal is to get one at TL … 3 sister courses! My other goal is to consistently break 100.

JUNIOR DEVELOPMENTAL TOUR

The Georgia Golf Performance Junior Developmental Tour was created to have a tournament our juniors can compete in to learn how to play tournaments in a safe, family-friendly environment. It also allows coaches to observe your junior in a tournament atmosphere, which helps in our coaching strategy.

The junior tour is one of three key objective measuring tools we use in determining the placement of Team GGP juniors within the Performance Pathway. Juniors compete at special yardages that are based on their developmental age and skill set. All ages are welcome to participate in the tournaments.

The final event of the season is Saturday, October 14th at Bridgemill Athletic Club. Register through our website GeorgiaGolfPerformance.com.

*In the event a tournament is full on our website please call or email us to request to be added to the waitlist.
