Pets are not permitted in any sand areas. All pets must remain on-leash while on BridgeMill property.

No bikes, skateboards, skates, etc. permitted under the Pavilion.

Do not use sidewalk chalk underneath the Park Pavilion.

No food and beverage is allowed on the basketball and volleyball courts except in plastic sports bottles.

Baseballs, softballs and bats are not permitted in the park/ playground area, including the open field.

No profanity is allowed.

No running up the slides.

The infant swings are for small children assisted by an adult.

No sitting, walking or standing on the horizontal ladders.

Do not jump out of swings.

Keep small children away from the large children swings.

Do not throw sand.

Glass is not permitted.

What is Pickleball and why you should try it? Pickleball started in Washington State in the mid 1960’s and was a west coast sport for many years. SENIOR FITNESS AND HEALTH CLASSES GO4LIFE: Tuesdays 1:00pm This Senior Health Fitness program is designed by the National Institute on Aging and focuses on fitting exercise and physical activity in to daily living. It is for any Active Aging Adult who is currently exercising or in need of a guide to get moving or be more active. SPECIALTY GROUP FITNESS Specialty group fitness programs are short term (4-8 week) sessions that are goal specific and include an added personal experience.

CARDIO/STRENGTH CIRCUIT CLASS

Mondays 7:00pm and Thursdays 9:00am with Andrea.

This cardio/strength, small group class is held in the cardio weight room. It is performed in a circuit format that moves from cardio vascular machines to weight machines. The class is designed for all fitness levels to tone muscles and increase meta- bolic function for more calories burned over a longer period of time. Members must register for the class each month (4x per month $20, 8x per month $40).

DANCE LIKE A STAR

Wednesdays at 7:00pm through November 20th. Learn many different styles of dance in this 3 part series that will get you moving and grooving for a great calorie burn and fun night out.

• 4 weeks - LA BLAST is a revolutionary dance fitness program that fuses all the ballroom dances into a fun calorie burning workout. Motivational speaker who earned a Super Bowl XLII ring with the NY Giants as he motivated their winning streak and NFL championship in 2008. He will skydive in, weather permitting. ● Golfers, neighbors, military supporters, elected officials, patriots, and families from all over north Georgia. ● Everybody is welcome, even those not playing golf. ​BRING YOUR KIDS. What: ● A military charity event that includes 18 holes of great golf and great fellowship. ● A rotary winged fly-in that will include at least 5 helicopters of various kinds both military and civilian with opportunities to ride in the civilian helicopters and an AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter and Vietnam UH-1. ● An all-day long free-fall demonstration event with jumpers free-falling from the helicopters that fly in. ● A display of some of the tactical vehicles, weapons, and tools used in defense of our nation.

When: ● First helicopters will arrive around 0900hrs. ● Shotgun start (using a shotgun) at 1030hrs. ● Helicopters and parachutists will be in the air all day long and will conclude around dark.

Where: ● The Bridgemill Athletic Club becomes the Bridgemill LZ/DZ this one day each year.

Why: ● To support Operation Santa. Operation Santa is the main effort of VFW Post 12002. Funds raised go to support Georgia-based troops and the families of those troops deployed to wherever they are fighting. ● Funds are used to purchase Christmas gifts for those deployed troops’ children (708 last year, alone). ● Funds also used to support deployed troops’ families if they become financially distressed due to deployment and to outfit handicapped accessible living quarters for local wounded warriors. ● We get to celebrate Christmas with our kids because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those that wish to harm us for celebrating Christmas. This is the least we can do for their kids and families.

JUNIOR ACADEMY At Georgia Golf Performance our goal is to instill a love of the game of golf in your child by creating a fun, safe, and interactive learning environment which transforms at our highest level to learning what it takes to become a professional golfer.

Juniors learn the game with their peers and meet new friends while learning valuable life skills and core values that are inherent to the game. Georgia Golf Performance Junior Tour Points Leaders

The Georgia Golf Performance Developmental Tour is an exciting part of the Performance Pathway and is used to evaluate the juniors’ scoring ability. This is a monthly tournament series that runs from April through October and is structured similarly to the FedEx cup on the PGA Tour. Points are accumulated from each tournament for each age division. What makes this tour effective is that we place the junior at the appropriate yardage length for their skill level. This allows the junior to always be fairly challenged when teeing up on the GGP Developmental tour.

FALL JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM The junior program at BridgeMill is designed to meet the needs of all our junior players starting at age 5 and up and recreational to advanced tournament players. The goal of our program is to instill a love for the game of tennis in our youth. We encourage and foster a healthy, active lifestyle that players carry with them throughout their lives. Our program is divided into categories based on ability and age.

All programs focus on proper stroke development, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness at an age and level appropriate manner.

Development groups meet for 1 hour. Check with the Tennis Pro Shop for development group class schedule & available space.

EXCEL ACADEMY

5-6 years – This group is for our youngest juniors with little or no tennis experience. Our goal in the program is to help children learn and enjoy the game of tennis while improving their overall athletic skills. We focus on basic motor skills like throwing, catching, running and jumping but also learn fundamental racket skills.

The Academy group is for intermediate to advanced players, ages 11 & up, who are committed to improving their game. This high energy group of players is striving to play tournaments, high school tennis or working to get a college scholarship. The Head Coach of the academy is Jennifer Pourchier who is also the Head Coach for the Reinhardt University tennis teams! One unique benefit of this is that Academy players often get to hit and train with the college players! Players are divided by ability level and age.

Drills focus on proper strokes, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness. The group meets Monday and/or Wednesday from 5:00-7:00pm. This program runs throughout the school year.

7-10 years - These classes are for juniors with little or no tennis experience. We focus on developing athletic skills, fundamental stokes and learning how to play points and keep score.

2 days per week per month - 1 day per week per month $220/tennis & golf member $135/tennis & golf member $230/athletic member $140/athletic member $250/non-member $150/non-member

EXCEL FUTURE STARS – DEVELOPMENT GROUPS

11-16 years – This group is for players with little or no experience. Players will be taught every shot, how to score, how to play a match. This group is great for those aspiring to play on their high school teams and know what they are doing.

Happy October! Cooler temps and shorter days, but the BridgeMill Sixes Service League (BSSL) is still very active and looking forward to fun events through the end of the year.

Saturday November 9th will be our annual Food Drive for MUST Ministries. BSSL Volunteers will be delivering bags the week of November 2nd and will pick up the filled bags on November 9th by 9 am and will deliver them to the MUST food pantry for deserving families in Cherokee County. Please fill the bag with non-perishable food items.

We will be at the BridgeMill pool parking lot until noon on November 9th if you prefer to bring your contribution to us. Contact Ruth Clark at 631-338-2367 for additional information.

Together, we can make a difference Ladies Dining Out has been active through the summer thanks to the creative ideas of Cheryl Karr. The most recent out was to the Carlos Museum of Art. See below for a few photos of the ladies that were able to attend. More outings will be included in the fall lineup of activities.

August 24th was the annual coupons for the Belk sale.

Cheryl Karr and Carol Goebel headed up this event: the coupons were $5 and you received $5 back to go shopping!

What a treat! Thanks ladies for helping our club with the Belk sale‌we look forward to doing it again.

Our club was quite busy in the spring and summer and we are happy to report the updates: Our Summer Lunch Program had to revamp their system in the very beginning due to changes with a new state law, but our ladies (and their spouses and friends and children) jumped in every other Wednesday and packed hundreds of lunches for Cherokee County students. This program was expertly led by Susan Gaines, Judy West, Linda Emore and Patti Conrad.

BRIDGEMILL SIXES SERVICE LEAGUE Our club also participated in the Give a Kid a Chance backpack give away in July. We met and packed hundreds of personal health bags that included a hairbrush, shampoo, toothpaste, a toothbrush and soap. This event was headed by Lynn Weimer and she was assisted by many of our club members to make this a memorable event for Cherokee County students.

At our August meeting, our club members donated pet products to Rob’s Rescue, which is a charity that to raise money to give to those that are less fortunate so that they can take care of their pets. Our club was able to donate $300 in addition to the food and pet toys that we collected that evening.

We would like to extend an invitation to anyone that would like to join our club to help us raise money for Cherokee county charities. It is not all work! We have a lot of fun playing bunco, attending book clubs, lunches out and much more. Come as our guest to see what our club is all about.
