YOUTH FITNESS SPOTLIGHT

Cade Cochran

Cade Cochran is the spotlight star for the middle school fitness program this month. Cade inspires other students because of his hard work and participation in every class. He played football for many years and is currently enjoying golf and pickleball. Cade stays dedicated to his fitness routine. He values the benefits of regular exercise because he recognizes it is setting the foundation for a lifetime of healthy habits. His favorite cardio exercise is the elliptical machine while the shoulder press is his favorite strength exercise. Cade takes pride in pushing himself with his workouts and does so with a big smile on his face. His positive attitude is contagious to others. Keep up the great work and commitment, Cade.

A fun age-appropriate fitness program filled with heart happy games, obstacle courses, bodyweight exercises and age-appropriate nutritional information.

Monday - Thursday | 3:30pm to 4:15pm | K-5th Grade | $10 per class per child

Introductory program facilitated by a certified personal trainer and designed to educate our youth on fitness center etiquette, equipment use and proper form on equipment in the CARDIO/WEIGHT ROOM ONLY. Participants will learn respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, body awareness and self-confidence. Participants will gain muscle, strength, endurance, speed, agility, flexibility and preparation for future independent training.

Mondays & Wednesdays 4:45pm to 5:30pm | 6th - 8th grade | $10 per class per child

Dancers will learn all the basic ballet positions and steps as well as fun hip hop moves.

This program helps dancers with self-confidence, problem-solving skills, mental flexibility, creativity, physical dexterity, coordination and teamwork skills. There will be three choreographed dance recitals performed throughout the year.

Participants, please bring ballet and tennis shoes, wear comfortable clothing and hair tied back. For safety purposes no in class viewing. Please bring a water bottle. Noshows will be billed. $10 per class per child. Class is limited to 12 participants.

LGA N EWS OPEN BOARD MEETING is Wednesday November 8 at 6:30pm. We will meet at Featherstone’s for drinks and dinner and to discuss a few items like Winter playdates and the December Par 3 golf tournament and Christmas party. November 12 will be the Fall Fest tournament. This tournament is the 8 inch Cup which has been a very popular event at BridgeMill. All photos and winners will be in our December issue.

October 20-21 was the Ladies and Senior Ladies Club Championship. All photos and winners will be in our December issue. Jill Lain and Therese Powers will be defending their current titles (and hoping to keep their coveted parking spaces!)

September 27 was game night with the Three Club Challenge. Some thought went into the picks and ONLY 3 clubs were allowed.

We have one son and twin daughters. We also have one granddaughter. We have been members of BMAC since 2016. I joined the LGA in 2022 and have enjoyed playing and getting to know some of the ladies. I have been playing golf off and on for 6 years.

Hello, my name is Di Brown. Initially, I moved to BridgeMill from Paradise, St Pete Beach, Fl because my sister has lived here for five years and I found myself here every holiday. I live one minute from the Clubhouse by car, so the beautiful Bridge Mill Golf Course is nothing but convenient. I joined the LGA last year and could not have found a nicer, encouraging and fabulous group of women. You all have created such an inspiring, fun and inviting golf experience. My favorite hole is #16 which I made a birdie on last year.

When I grow up I want to play golf as well as some of you. I’m going to keep at it and improve my golf game and make more birdies and be a hole in one, one day!

Hi, I am Deedee Veres. What golf events do I enjoy the most? I really enjoy casual golf with my husband, the LGA and friends but also the Wednesday night game nights our LGA creates. I am challenging myself to attend more tournaments in 2024. My golf goals for the year? My goal in 2023 was to shoot 90 or better and I achieved that. 2024 I have a goal to shoot at least 10 strokes lower. What courses do I like to play? Kiva Plantation in Gulf Shores/ Ft Morgan. My husband, Ron, and I own a condo on the 18th green and we enjoy the late afternoon sunsets.

What got me started playing golf? I took lessons, but never had time to play while raising a family. Once we entered the empty nesters club, I wanted to focus in golf. Ron is a great golfer and I wanted to share this activity with him.

The goal of our program is to instill a love for the game of tennis in our youth. We encourage and foster a healthy, active lifestyle that players carry with them throughout their lives. Our program is divided into categories based on ability and age. All programs focus on proper stroke development, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness at an age and level appropriate manner. RISING STARS – 5-8 YEARS

Monday & Wednesday – 4:00-5:00 pm The Rising Stars program aims to introduce children between the ages of 5 and 8 to the FUNdamentals of tennis and athletic skills. It is a specialized program that emphasizes the development of essential skills necessary to succeed in tennis while keeping the learning process fun and engaging.

FUTURE STARS – 8-12 YEARS

Monday & Wednesday – 5:00-7:00 pm The Future Stars program is specifically designed for players aged 8-12 years old. The program is aimed at introducing the fundamental concepts of the game to these young players who have an interest in competition and want to improve quickly. Beginning players are welcome in this program.

HIGH SCHOOL PREP

Monday & Wednesday – 5:00-7:00 pm The High School Prep program is designed to help players who are getting ready to compete on their High School Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. Eligibility for participation requires players to be in the eighth grade or above. Our primary objective is to coach and train aspiring high school players in acquiring the essential skills and abilities required to achieve success at the High School level.

PREMIER TOUR

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Call for package pricing and times The Premier Tour program is for players who are committed to competing in tennis. Premier Tour students are expected to play monthly L4, L5, L6 or L7 tournaments, ITF tournaments, as well as compete in UTR tournaments.

Players/parents should coordinate with their primary coach to determine the appropriate level of tournaments to compete in each month.

PICKLEBALL Pickleball is a great sport that can be enjoyed by the whole family!! BridgeMill has 6 lighted pickleball courts in the tennis area. These courts are being managed by the Tennis/ Rackets Department. The courts are for BMAC members and accompanied guests only. Please always check in at the Pro Shop before play. Court fees must be paid prior to play.

Pickleball/Tennis/Golf members – No court fee Athletic members & accompanied guests - $10.00/player Pickleball/Tennis/Golf members may make court reservations up to three days in advance. Athletic members may reserve a court 1 day in advance. Players are allotted 1.5 hours for free play. The courts next to the fitness center are no longer available for play. These courts have been repurposed as a multi-sport area mainly for kids activities but will be used for other fitness classes as well.
