TIPS FROM THE PROS AT GEORGIA GOLF PERFORMANCE

LAG PUTTING Magic happens more with practice

They say the more you practice, the luckier you get. If you’re struggling with long putts, here’s an old but highly effective and fun drill. Using tees, mark out an imaginary ladder, with the rungs about 6 feet wide and 3 feet apart. Set the first rung at 12 feet and the last rung at 27 feet. Now take 3 golf balls and try and putt them with the ball finishing between the 12 and 15 foot rungs. If you don’t get all 3, try again. As soon as you have all 3 finished between those two rungs, progress to the 15 to 18 foot rungs. Fail to get all 3 in, and you go back to the start. Get them all in and you progress to the next rung. You get the idea. But what about the read? Pace is one part of the equation with your putts. Reading the line is another. If you feel that you struggle with either, give us a call. Wednesday November 3 is our LAST game night for 2021! We are running out of daylight, so please try to attend our last game night of the season. QUICK RECAP OF RECENT GAME NIGHTS AND OKTOBERFEST…

Wed Sep 29 game night was a combination of the games we have played this past year. Every hole had different rules and we used a tennis ball on #5 and a wiffle ball on #6 (the evening included a reverse scramble which was quite interesting!). Sun Oct 1 was our Oktoberfest Tournament was a fun combo of golf and poker - the cards determined which score was used on each hole. The longest drive was using your opposite handed club than normal. Mulligans were sold prior to the start of play to be used in the prize fund for our ladies golf group. Wed Oct 27 was Halloween Tombstone on the back 9! Each golfer was given a personalized tombstone that determined the strokes based on their handicap. The idea was to save a few strokes to the end and a playoff was scheduled to determine the winner. There was a costume contest also and fun Halloween themed prizes were awarded.

CONGRATULATIONS to the 2021 MGA Match Play Champion – Bob MCulloch!!! After nearly four months of play, the 64 man field was reduced to one after Bob McCullouch defeated Keith Dixon to earn the MGA Match Play Championship Belt for 2021. Bob will be sporting the belt around the club or throwing it on his cart for bragging rights. He will need to defend the title going into next year or else pass the belt on to the new champion.
