HOW GIVING CAN HELP IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH
an excerpt from the Cleveland Clinic
I’m sure you’ve had that “good feeling” experience when you’ve volunteered your time, offered emotional support to a friend or loved one or made a donation to a charity. Not only do your acts of kindness do good for others but they also help improve your health. Biologically, giving can create a “warm glow”, activating regions in the brain associated with pleasure, connection with other people and trust. There is evidence that during gift -giving behaviors, humans secrete “feel good” chemicals in our brain such as serotonin, (a mood mediating chemical), dopamine, (a feel-good chemical) and oxytocin, (a compassion and bonding chemical)
Researchers also found that people who gave their time to help others through community and organizational involvement had greater self- esteem, less depression and lower stress levels than those who didn’t. When researchers at the National Institute of Health looked at the functional MRI’s of subjects who gave to various charities, they found that giving stimulates the mesolimbic pathway, which is the reward center in the brain- releasing endorphins and creating what is known as the “helper’s high” and like other highs, this one is addictive too.
According to a study published in the International Journal of Psychosphysiology, people who gave social support to others had lower blood pressure than those who didn’t. Supportive interaction with others also helped people recover from coronary-related events.

Non-profit organizations are struggling right now, unable to host essential in- person fund raising events in which contributions greatly support their wonderful causes. You can help! Together with OneHope Wine.. Share wine, give hope. ONEHOPE Wine is a Napa Valley, California winery. From humble beginnings and a lofty vision, ONEHOPE was founded on one simple idea: that great wine can change the world. It's over a bottle of wine that we gather together, open our hearts and share stories that shape our vision for the future. ONEHOPE has donated more than $5.6 million to causes around the world. ONEHOPE donates half its profits to charity and each ONEHOPE wine varietal supports a different charitable cause or organization. A portion of the proceeds from this wine tasting event will go to support the Home Start Hope Organization.

Gift certificates available for Thai Massage or Reflexology. Contact Andrea Mathis at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 770-324-3175
THAI MASSAGE (sometimes referred to as assisted yoga, or lazy man’s yoga). Thai massage is focused on improving the flow of energy throughout the body. It is great for those who desire a more active form of massage. It is different from traditional massage in that the person lies fully clothed on a mat on the ground while the practitioner uses stretching, pulling, and rocking techniques to relieve tension, promote relaxation, and improve flexibility and circulation. REFLEXOLOGY is a form of bodywork that involves applying pressure to the hands and feet to produce changes in pain and other benefits elsewhere in the body. The theory behind reflexology is that there are certain points or "reflex areas" on the feet and hands that are connected energetically to specific organs and body parts through energy channels in the body. By applying pressure to reflex areas, a reflexologist is said to remove energy blockages and promote health in the related body area.

RULES CORNER QUESTION While playing in a tournament, Jill hits the ball to the left and her foursome can not find the ball. What are her options for a lost ball or OB in this situation in 2020? November is great fall weather and the perfect time to get out and play some golf on a fabulous golf course with some of the best bent grass greens in the area. Golf Member and Athletic and Tennis members please take care of the golf course when you play. Pay attention to the Cart Path rules and please repair all ball marks and sand some divots. Fall fashion is in the shop for those crisp mornings and cooler evenings. Men’s and Women’s outer wear is in from Nike , Foot joy and HMS Collection. Be sure to stop in and see what the golf shop has to offer. Can’t miss out on our new BridgeMill Hoodies from Ouray. Our ever favorite 8 Inch Cup is in November, please sign up through Bridgemillmga.com
or email them at email@example.com. As well as the Freedom Fighters golf outing on November 6th. This is truly one of the best outings of the year. It supports a great cause and the helicopter drops are amazing. Come out and bring the kids to watch and see all that they do on this day. Thank you to all who played and supported the Couples Golf this year. We had on average about 36 couples once a month who played in our events. They were so much fun and a great way to get involved and meet more people at the club. Stay tuned for an April start the 2021 Couples Golf Events. Please note that even the driving range has a no denim policy. Golf attire is required to play and practice at the facility.

ANSWER: 1-Instead of the player returning to the spot of the previous shot in the event of a lost ball or a ball out of bounds, the player can take a drop in the nearest spot of the fairway (within two clublengths of the edge of the fairway), no nearer the hole than where the ball crossed the OB line, with a two-stroke penalty. -If the club is playing this rule for lost ball.

GEORGIA GOLF PERFORMANCE TIPS FROM THE PROS PRACTICE WITH PURPOSE - PLAY A ROUND ON THE RANGE During any round of golf, you’re going to face a variety of challenges that require different clubs, so it’s a good idea to practice as though you were playing a round occasionally. Start with a driver as your tee shot, then move onto an iron for the approach, and finally a wedge. Change the number iron with each cycle and remember to include your fairway woods too. When playing a round on the range, make sure you play every shot as you’d play it during a round. That means including your pre-shot routine.

We focus on developing athletic skills, stroke fundamentals and learning how to play points and keep score. 11-16 YEARS – This group is for players with little or no experience. by RaNelle Stuckey
Although our meetings and activities remain on hold until further notice, we continue to find alternative ways to serve those in need in our community. This month, November 1st, 2nd, and 3rd plastic bags will be hung on your mailboxes for our annual Food Drive. We want to thank you in advance for the food items you are able to donate. Please place them in the plastic bag and hang it back on your mailbox for the November 7th pickup. Thank you to Ruth Clark and her team for coordinating this much needed fundraiser for our community. Samantha Kirkpatrick will be chairing the $25.00 Target and/or Publix gift cards for both The Angel House of North Georgia and the Cherokee County Homeless Veterans. If you want to provide a card but need assistance with purchasing contact Samantha at Samantha@signatureaccountant.com On October 22nd we had a Zoom meeting with a guest speaker, Diane Gillen, to discuss Suicide Prevention and the signs to look for. During this very difficult, and I also say very strange time, in our Nation as well as the World, we need to not only lift each other up, but to watch over each other, take care with one another. IF you would like information regarding suicide prevention, please contact our president, Mary Wiechert or our membership vice president Sally Peterson – their contact information is below, and they can put you in touch with Diane Gillen.
Together, we can make a difference
Surveys will be sent to all BSSL members this month asking for new and innovative ideas for fundraising, community service, and volunteers to serve on the Board, or chair one of our amazing platforms in 2021. We look forward to meeting the challenges the new year may bring and celebrating our successes – as our Motto says –”Together, we CAN make a difference!” Our Mission Statement: We are a non-profit organization that provides community outreach and assistance by organizing various events and programs to raise money or provide needed materials and/or services to those less fortunate in our community . If anyone is interested in learning more about BridgemillSixes Service League please contact our president, Mary Wiechert – email@example.com or our membership vice president Sally Peterson – firstname.lastname@example.org to learn how you too can be a part of the BSSL. Quote of the Month: “Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you” Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg – served 27 years on the Nation’s highest court. She was the first Jewish woman and the second woman to serve on the Supreme Court. She was a fierce advocate for women’s rights and equality. We would like to wish you and your family a Very Happy Thanksgiving! (Or as my grand-daughter would say in her younger years – Happy Nicegiving!)
