GOLF ACADEMY Congratulations to all the winners in each flight from the Club Championship! Thank you all for joining us and having fun! Our first-ever ladies Operation 36 class took place in October. We had a great group of ladies join. We look forward to hosting more classes in the near future. We’re so excited that we’ve been able to do a little “Fixer Upper” on our Golf Academy. We probably aren’t ready for HGTV but it’s been fun to imagine the possibilities. Our dry wall was as good as our Ryder Cup Team (too soon?) so we freshened up everything with new paint. We’ve added synthetic turf with cups cut into the floor so when the Georgia

weather changes (daily) you can still become the greatest putter in Cherokee County! We’ve got plans for more improvements, but most important, we will do everything with our core values in mind: to create a joyful experience, thriving community, enhance your love for the game of golf, and to take your performance to a new level!

Candy Canes will mark the tee boxes and be prepared for some interesting shots. In years past, we have shot at the #17 Green from both the #18 Tee Box over the maintenance building and from #13 Tee Box over the trees. GOLF NEWS BRIDGEMILL LGA UPDATE by Molly Maher The ladies in BridgeMill are still playing golf and enjoying the cooler temps and beautiful fairways that BridgeMill is famous for. Our golf season technically ended on October 31st but we will continue to play on Tuesday mornings, Wednesday mornings and Wednesday evenings (9 hole group). Be sure to check the tee times we have reserved as daylight savings time will cause a little shift in the times, especially for Wednesday evening. Saturday October 13th was the Oktoberfest tournament organized by Nancy Gillenwater. We had a scramble format followed by lunch at Featherstoneâ€™s. Thanks Nancy for a great day with our ladies golf group! Thursday November 8th will be the last GNO (girlâ€™s night out) for this year. Liz Gallogly will host a great evening with a fall theme which includes a social and dinner. We will use this opportunity to celebrate a hole in one with Joyce Gonzenbach and numerous birdie and chip in achievements for our members. Saturday December 1 will be our annual Christmas luncheon and awards presentation. Evites will go out by November 20th so be sure to respond yes so we can plan on your attendance for gifts, prizes and delicious food and drinks! A military charity event that includes 18 holes of great golf and great fellowship. A rotary winged fly-in that will include at least 5 helicopters of various kinds both military and civilian with opportunities to ride in the civilian helicopters and an AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter. An all-day long free-fall demonstration event with jumpers free-falling from helicopters that fly in. A display of some of the tactical vehicles, weapons, and tools used in defense of our nation.

First helicopters will arrive around 0900hrs. Shotgun start (using a shotgun) at 1030hrs. Helicopters and parachutists will be in the air all day long and will conclude around dark.

The Bridgemill Athletic Club and in the skies above it. The Bridgemill LZ/DZ will be set up on the driving range complete with a FARP for the helicopters.

To support Operation Santa. Operation Santa is the main effort of VFW Post 12002. Funds raised go to support Georgia-based troops and the families of those troops deployed to wherever they are fighting. Funds are used to purchase Christmas gifts for those deployed troops’ children (798 in one year, alone). Funds also used to support deployed troops’ families if they become financially distressed due to deployment and to outfit handicapped accessible living quarters for local wounded warriors. We get to celebrate Christmas with our kids because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those that wish to harm us for celebrating Christmas. This is the least we can do for their kids and families.

Please check in with the Pro Shop Attendant prior to play. The courts are in high demand. Checking in ensures that you will not be bumped off the court in the middle a match because it was previously reserved. It also helps the staff know what courts are being used and who is on them.

Stop by the Pro Shop for a complete schedule of adult drills. Be sure and get on our email distribution list to get up to date information on drills and events for adults. Please register in advance for all drills. Space is limited.

The tennis courts are for Club members and their guests only. Accompanied guest fees are $10 per person. Athletic members and their guests are also required to pay the $10 per person court fee. Court fees should be paid before play. Unaccompanied guests are not allowed to use the tennis courts.

FLEX LEAGUES – Men’s, Women’s, Juniors, Doubles, Singles, Mixed One of the benefits of being a BridgeMill Tennis or Golf member is being able to participate in league play. This includes Flex Leagues!! Flex leagues are all about you! You can register by yourself for singles play or with your favorite partner for doubles or mixed doubles. There are also Junior leagues. The “flex” means that the you can schedule matches at times that suit you. Flex leagues are a perfect compliment to team play. They are also perfect for those that can’t commit to the demands of team league play. If you have a busy schedule, flex leagues give you a great opportunity to play competitive matches against other people at your level. There are different seasons of play offered. They also have play-offs and City Finals! The two most popular flex leagues in this area are T2Tennis (t2tennis.com) and Ultimate Tennis (ultimatetennis.com). Check out their websites for more information on the leagues. BMAC treats these matches just like any league match. You do not have to pay a guest fee for your opponent. It’s included in your membership dues.

EXCEL JUNIOR TENNIS ACADEMY FALL PROGRAM SCHEDULE EXCEL FUTURE STARS 5-7 years – This group uses the red dot ball to train and size appropriate equipment. Focus is on developing skills used in tennis in a fun way! 45 min classes. 8-10 years – Geared for beginner players or those with little experience. Group uses age appropriate equipment (orange dot ball). 1 hr classes. 11-12 years – Beginner level – Classes are 1 hour. 13-16 years – Beginner level – Classes are 1 hour EXCEL ACADEMY 12U intermediate – Uses the green dot ball to train 8-13 years – intermediate players – Uses regular balls to train High School & Advanced players (for players that play on a high school team or in tournaments) Sessions are 2 hours and include footwork and conditioning.
