Dear BridgeMill Athletic Club Members,
Here we are a few months into the new year and we hope you are finding new and fun ways to meet your health and fitness goals with our BFit classes and open gym hours. We have appreciated all of the member feedback and participation in our new programs and our 24hour member gym accessibility.
Unfortunately, we have identified an increasing issue happening during some of these open hours. We have recorded numerous instances of members with 24-hour access fobs opening the doors to individuals without access fobs. This is a violation of our 24-hour access policy that our members agreed to upon acceptance of the access fob. Allowing unauthorized people to access to our private facilities puts safety and security at great risk.
To address the increase in these incidents, we have implemented a new camera system that monitors all access points in real time. Members found assisting others in unauthorized entry, and thereby violating the policy, will be subject to penalties that could include membership suspension for repeated violations.
It is our intent that the enforcement of these rules will contribute to maintaining a safe and purposeful atmosphere within the fitness center. Your cooperation and commitment to these guidelines will play a crucial role in upholding the integrity of our gym community. Together, we can create a space where everyone feels secure and can fully enjoy the benefits of a dedicated fitness environment.
Please review the attached updated 24-hour access policy. And, should you have any concerns about safety, security or behavior at the fitness center, please do not hesitate to contact the Fitness Center Director at 770-324-3175.
Thank you for your attention and support in this matter.
Best Regards,
Andrea Mathis andrea.mathis@hmsgolf.com 770-324-317524 HOUR FITNESS CENTER ACCESS POLICIES

JOIN OUR B-FIT COMMUNITY and unlock the benefits of strength training
In the quest for holistic well-being, strength training emerges as a formidable force, offering an array of benefits that transcend mere muscle development. Beyond sculpting a toned physique, engaging in strength training exercises significantly impacts both longevity and mood, fostering a balanced approach to overall health.
Longevity Beyond Muscles
Strength training isn’t solely about sculpting muscles; it’s also about fortifying the body for longevity. Regular strength training sessions stimulate muscle growth and enhance bone density, crucial for combating age-related muscle loss and osteoporosis.
This preservation of mobility and independence in later years contributes to a fuller, more enduring life. Additionally, strength training has been linked to enhanced metabolic health, cardiovascular function, and insulin sensitivity. These physiological adaptations not only optimize overall health but also play a pivotal role in extending lifespan and reducing the risk of chronic diseases associated with aging.
Elevating Mood Through Exercise
The benefits of strength training extend beyond physical health, exerting a profound impact on mental and emotional well-being. When you engage in strength training exercises, your body releases endorphins, neurotransmitters known for their ability to elevate mood and alleviate stress. This natural mood boost can help combat feelings of anxiety, depression, and tension, leaving you feeling more energized and emotionally resilient.
Moreover, strength training fosters a sense of achievement and empowerment as you conquer personal milestones and surpass previous limits. This boost in self-esteem and confidence can translate into other areas of life, fostering a positive mindset and a greater sense of self-worth.
Strength training is more than just a means to build muscle; it's a powerful tool for promoting longevity and enhancing mood. By incorporating regular strength training sessions into your routine, you’re not only investing in a stronger, more resilient body but also cultivating a brighter, more fulfilling outlook on life. So, join us in any one of our many strength training classes or meet with one of our trainers and embrace the transformative benefits of strength training and unlock the keys to a longer, happier life.
HERE’S WHAT MEMBERS ARE SAYING ABOUT OUR B-FIT PERSONAL TRAINING
A few months ago I began training with Judy Cox. She is so knowledgeable, conscientious about safety, encouraging and fun. With her guidance, I have not only gained muscle and improved my shape, I’ve gained much needed confidence and drive to become stronger and healthier.... as a lifestyle. Thank you Judy! I truly look forward to our sessions. - Nadine T.

I would recommend Mark as a highly competent and knowledgeable trainer to anyone who wants to increase his or her level of fitness. Over the past year working out with Mark I have lost fat and added muscle weight and brought my systolic and diastolic BP readings down several points! My energy level has increased dramatically and my flexibility and balance have improved as well. Mark covers nutrition, workouts, stretching and breathing to help improve my overall health! - Mark M.

Eighteen months ago, I walked with a cane and a knee wrap. I climbed steps like a toddler. I could not get down to the floor. I needed help with many activities. I was always in pain. I was an avid walker before my knee pain started. I walked two and a half miles most days and five miles twice a week. The knee pain became debilitating, and I began sitting too much because of the pain. I began to doubt my ability to become more active and I thought more about what I could not do than what I could do. Then I began working with Andrea. She helped me develop muscles that I did not know I had. I did workouts with her that I thought I would never be able to do. I realized that if I thought I could not do something, my body would respond by not doing it. Andrea helped me see that I could do more than I realized. I climb steps like an adult. I can get on the floor and back up unaided. I walk daily. I can carry my own suitcase when we travel. I can step into my shoes and pants without holding on to something. It is a miracle!Carla

GOLF NEWS
It’s always a great day for golf at BridgeMill Athletic Club. We have so many exciting things for you to participate in, so always check our calendar here in the newsletter.
Our first event in the Golf Member Game Improvement Dinner Series took place in April and it was a great success. Bill Murchison, with Georgia Golf Performance, shared about golf at BridgeMill Athletic Club and so many of the amazing players who have been part of both our history and our future. He went into detail about the patterns of behavior, practice techniques, and game knowledge we see as the common denominators among the most successful golfers. He then went step by step about how simple strategies can make an immediate impact on your game to lower your score. Don’t get stuck in the mindset that your game is as good as it gets. It can get better! The diverse and talented golf staff available at the academy by the range are here to help you meet your full potential. Stay tuned for the date of the next Game Improvement Dinner. I promise you won’t want to miss it!

NEW FOR 2024: THE LGA INAUGURAL CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
This month, our LGA Page is dedicated to supporting Gabrielle Culberson through our Inaugural Charity Golf Tournament. Gabrielle, a vibrant 16-year-old, has been juggling an active lifestyle despite her health challenges. She enjoys school, maintains a 4.0 GPA, cherishes time with friends, and competes on the Darlington School soccer team, all while undergoing dialysis treatments seven days a week, eight hours each night, to support her kidney function.
Despite these hurdles, Gabrielle’s relentless spirit has not waned. We are deeply inspired by her story and believe we can contribute to the life of this remarkable young individual who has such a promising future ahead of her.
OUR INSPIRATION
The inspiration for our fundraiser was sparked by the generosity of our very own Therese Powers. Therese donated one of her kidneys to an individual in dire need. Therese’s selfless act gave a second chance at life to an anonymous recipient—a true testament to the power of giving.
To honor Therese, we have chosen to support live organ donation through COTA – the Children’s Organ Transplant Association. All proceeds from our event will benefit Gabrielle Culberson, who, after being airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in November 2023 due to kidney failure, thankfully matched with a donor and is expected to receive a kidney transplant shortly. Our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burdens that come with such a significant medical procedure for both the individual and her family.
SAVE THE DATE

Mark your calendars to come play golf with us. Our tournament is set for September 8th, with a 10:00 AM shotgun start. The format will be a four-person scramble. The event will include lunch, prizes, a silent auction, and raffle draws. Plus a few fun surprises involving bottles of wine! You will definitely want to buy LOTS of raffle tickets. It promises to be an uplifting day.

BECOME A SPONSOR
Show your support by becoming a sponsor for our tournament. We have three levels of sponsorship, but any amount is greatly appreciated. Money raised will be directed to COTA to aid in covering Gabrielle’s medical expenses. Donations can be made through the QR code provided. Scan the code and you will be taken directly to our event page on the COTA website. 100% of your contribution will go directly into Gabrielle’s account to help with her medical costs.
If you wish to be a sponsor or donate an item for the auction and raffle, but have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Amy Davidson on our Golf Buddies page or at BridgemillLGA@gmail.com. Thank you for your consideration of this great cause!
