by Uel Kemp Larry Adams won the coveted LA Masters Green Jacket with a net score of 72 and his professional partner’s score of 68 for a total of 140 to edge out Rex Wallace by three shots.
If you are unfamiliar with Lake Arrowhead’s version of the Masters, the tournament rules require each Lake Arrowhead golfer to select a professional playing partner from the Masters Tournament in Augusta. The combined Saturday scores of the two are then used to determine the winners.
Several spots were determined by a score card playoff. 12 participants won gift certificates. The ties were broken by using each player’s net score starting on the 18th and working backwards until the tie was broken. The winners were:
Place LA Golfer 1st Larry Adams 2nd Rex Wallace 3rd Herb Ernst 4th Paul Bolding 5th Brian Schell 6th Craig Glasgow 7th Pat Farrelly 8th TC Chapman 9th Jimmy Bush 10th Larry Whiting 11th Mike Hackett 12th Pam Glasgow Net Score Pro’s score Total Professional 72 71 68 72 139 Cameron Smith 143 Justin Thomas

Congratulations to all the winners and a special thanks to all of the Lake Arrowhead golfers who participated in what has become one of the more popular tournaments at the Highlands Course. If you would like to join in the fun and shoot for a chance to earn your own “Green Jacket” next year, be advised that you do not have to be a member of the Golf Club. However, you must have an established handicap. For handicap information, check with either Uel or Eddie at the Pro Shop. It’s easy to get started.

NOTES FROM 19TH HOLE by Robert McGurk
As I write this in April for the May/June edition of Lake Arrowhead Living, MGA Match Play is underway, 32 golfers will compete in the Tournament which will finish by September 1. On the first day of Match Play, Mike Johnson scored a hole-in-one on #2 at the Highlands Course. Clearly Mike did better than turning three shots into two on this par 3 hole. Mike went on to win his match and it made me wonder what are the odds of getting a hole-in-one.
The National Hole-In-One Registry, estimates based on 450 Million rounds of golf played each year in the USA, that a hole-in-one is once every 3,500 rounds of golf. The Registry says for the average golfer the odds are 12,500 to one! As a MGA member playing in an MGA event, Mike will share the hole-in-one payout at the end of the year. Well done Mike! In addition to Match Play, the MGA has two tournaments in May and June the Red, White and Blue Memorial Tournament on May 28, and our 3-2-1 on 5-4-3 on June 11. We invite you to join our group. Information on all our tournaments and events can be found on our website www. lakearrowheadmga.com.
You will also find information on the 10th Annual Angel House Tournament in this issue, If you play, get a foursome, if you want to support this worthwhile charity, you can sponsor a hole. All net proceeds go to Angel House, which has been providing shelter, life skills, educational assistance and clinical services to young girls since 2006.

April 15th is a significant date. Not only is it the date to file taxes, but also the time to now plant gardens and ‘supposedly’ not worry about another frost. It also reflects the full onslaught of spring, especially since the Master’s Tournament has finished with many more golf tournaments to follow.
The Lake Arrowhead Ladies Golf Association kicked off the 2022 season on March 23rd at the annual evening dinner / meeting. We welcomed 8 new ladies. It was a great time to reconnect from the winter break, meet new friends and review the 2022 play day events. The LALGA season begins in April and ends in October and the events occur monthly. Please see event schedule.
The LALGA is always looking for new players and members. With a lot of new neighbors moving in each month hopefully more ladies will want to join in the fun. If anyone is interested in golf or already knows how to play and wants to join up for the weekly play days (Mondays 3:30 PM – 9 holes and/or Thursdays 9:00 AM – 9 or 18 holes) please send an email via the LALGA lakearrowheadlga2021@gmail. com.
At the annual meeting, Paula Hall, treasurer, reminded everyone of the many ways to track playing progress: (all these tracking boards for recording progress are in the ladies’ locker room)
