Users are responsible for their child’s safety at all times.

Adult supervision is required for all children under 12.

This heart pumping, strength conditioning, interval-based class combines full-body strength training exercises with high intensity cardio bursts designed to tone your body and improve your endurance.

BARRE/PILATES FUSION Tue 10:30am.

This full body conditioning class combines the fundamental principles of both Barre and Pilates. Each class will work to balance all muscle groups’ strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on sculpting long, lean muscles while challenging the core with each movement. This low impact class is great for all ages and fitness levels.

This fun, fast-paced workout is performed using 8 -10 stations that include cardio intensive, strength building, core stabilizing, balance and mobility exercises for a heart pumping, fat burning, body sculpting total body workout.

This class will train your muscles to work together to prepare the body for daily tasks, and real-life activities by simulating common movement patterns of daily living like squatting, reaching, pulling and lifting. consist of a thorough warm-up followed by sequences and postures that build heat and strength in the body then will close with cooling and calming postures to leave you feeling balanced and renewed.

This 30 minute full body workout in the Cardio/Weight Room is performed in a circuit format that moves from cardiovascular machines to weight machines. It is designed for all fitness levels to tone muscles and increase metabolic function for more calories burned over a longer period of time.

Smart Tips for Reading Menus Ordering out may be a treat after a busy week or a fun way to mark a celebration. However, making the right choices when eating out can also be a challenge.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind to help you decipher the menu the next time you order out.

Have a Backup Strategy Restaurants aren’t required to have nutrition information available if they have fewer than 20 locations. There are also a few exceptions for items such as daily specials, custom orders or condiments.

If nutrition information isn’t available for an item, consider the following tips when you’re deciding what to order.

Nutrition Information Many restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops and quick service vendors are required to provide nutrition information about their foods and beverages right on the menu.

Limit items that are fried or served in sauces that are high in calories and saturated fat. Some terms to be mindful of include:

Calories The amount of calories for foods that are regularly offered should be listed next to items on menus, order boards or next to the food being served on buffet lines.

Crunchy, Crispy, Battered and Breaded

•

Creamy, Cheesy, Alfredo

Items that are often lower in calories and may be more healthful options include terms, such as:

Salt, Fat, Carbohydrates and More

The information posted on the menu is usually limited to calories but sometimes a restaurant may list other nutrients to show that the food is low in fat or high in protein.

Additional nutrition information must also be available on request for most foods served at these restaurants. This includes information about the amount of nutrients, such as sodium, saturated fat and dietary fiber.

If you like to plan ahead, many restaurants also have nutrition information available online, which can help you select healthier options before you arrive and reduce pressure you may feel to order quickly.

Be on the lookout for Titleist and Taylor Made fitting days that come up throughout the year. They are a great way to get a new Driver or set of irons. Titleist has the new SM9 wedges, Taylormade has the new Stealth Driver and Callaway has the new Rogue Driver. All of these can also be set up for a demo up at the learning center. March has arrived with warmer days and the kickoff of the ladies golf season at BridgeMill. Our first event will be Wednesday March 15th and playdates will be scheduled for all Wednesdays in March. Tee times and event details will be posted in our Group Me app titled Golf Buddies. If you are new to our area, please contact Stacy at 770.846.3790 or Vanessa at 770.314.0809. Stacy and Vanessa will provide the most current information and help you join our group.

MONDAYS: We will have 18 hole play dates on Monday mornings that we call “Mulligan Mondays”. We hope to start on Monday, March 21 (based on course availability). Our tee times are reserved for LGA members. These times require a call to the Pro Shop by noon Sunday to get on the sheet… any times not filled will be released to the public. 770-3455500 x1 WEDNESDAYS: We plan to have 9 hole play dates on Wednesdays starting at 5pm. We will alternate between regular 9 hole play and 9 hole game nights. Regular golf requires a RSVP to the Pro Shop and Game Nights require an RSVP through our Golf Buddies app. If you sign up then realize you cannot play, please cancel through the app so all golfers will be notified.

TIPS FROM THE PROS AT GEORGIA GOLF PERFORMANCE Center of the Green | Breaking 90 The flag is a mesmerizing target. It draws our focus and becomes the target, often when it shouldn’t. If you’re aiming to break 90, unless you’re greenside, ignore the flag and look for the center or largest part of the green. The place with the most room for error.

“You’ve just got a short 30-yard pitch. But ignore the flag. It is there to tempt you to the bunker. Aim for the very center of the green”.

The 15 – 40-yard short pitch shot is the most common final shot into the green for most golfers.

“The common mistakes we see on this shot are backswings that are too long and a deceleration of the clubhead at impact; and attempts to scoop the ball.”

Get this technique right. Many of you have seen pictures of open stance and ball position and get set up quite well. But the use of the wrists on the backswing and the downswing betrays a lack of confidence or poor understanding of the required technique for this shot. Let’s get you practicing the right technique.

GOLF NEWS PGA JUNIOR LEAGUE REGISTRATION PGA Jr. League offers junior golfers a fun, team golf experience with memories and friends that will last a lifetime. The focus in PGA Junior League is on the golf course, from on course coaching, etiquette, rules, strategy, playing, and competing.

Teams are open to players of all skill levels, ages 9-13. Juniors learn and play the game in a relaxed scramble format that builds confidence and encourages mentorship among teammates.

MGA NEWS MGA PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE ……

It is with great honor to once again be elected President of the 2022 Bridgemill Men’s Golf Association. The 2021 Golf Season is in our rearview mirror. The MGA board, along with the help of the BMAC pro-shop, worked hard together to keep the 2021 schedule and formats moving forward. We adjusted our approach to post game scoring and fellowship and we had to “lighten” our approach to the 8” Cup for a Cause charity event. But overall, we had a successful year thanks to everyone’s flexibility and creativity. With approximately 180+ members strong, the MGA chaired 6 main events, an MGA Challenge Cup, several social events and an MGA season long match play format. Congratulations to all of our major winners in 2021 and to our MGA Player of the Year, Ed Zamorski.

Just recently in January, the MGA and new Board voted the following as the 2022 Officers and Committee chairs. There were 9 open vacancies out of 12 this year. All requests were accepted without any challenges. Please welcome the following officers and board members for 2022.

As of the writing of this message, the MGA already has one event in the books. The Iron Man event in January.

We had great participation for the event despite the chilly temperatures to start. Our next Social Event will be on March 12th and have a St. Patrick’s Day theme which will be a BLAST! At the end of March, we will kick off our MGA Match Play season. Then around the corner from that, at the end of April, is the MGA’s premier event, the MGA Masters. Please reach out to a board member if interested. While golf is certainly not a primary focus in our day to day lives, it is most certainly a part of our time here at Bridgemill. A big thanks goes to the 2021 Board who provided the leadership we needed in 2021. If you have feedback for us, we want to hear it - all we ask is that you keep it constructive and give us a chance to act on it.

BEGINNER PLAYING DRILLS – For beginning players that have taken the 1-2-3 beginner class or an equivalent, these drills will focus on how to play points. Positioning and strategy will be taught. Players should be able to sustain a short rally. Great program to get you ready for team league play. Monday – 7:00-8:30 pm | Thursday – 7:00-8:30 pm DOUBLES DRILLS – Good practice drills for doubles with the opportunity to play points against different people. Great way to meet other players!!

ALTA LEAGUE DEADLINES The registration period for all Summer ALTA rosters begins March 22 and the deadline is April 12. This includes Adult Mixed Doubles, Senior (45+) Men & Women. These leagues begin match play in June.

Players on BridgeMill league teams must be Tennis or Golf members in good standing.

Captains must get approval from the Tennis Department before submitting a roster to the league. Posted in the Pro Shop is a list of players looking for teams and teams looking for players. Call the Pro Shop if you want your information on this list.

IMPORTANT FRIENDLY REMINDER Please check in with the Pro Shop Attendant prior to play. The courts are in high demand so one person per court, whether from a team or individual reservation, should check in with the Pro Shop prior to their reserved court time to verify their court usage and pay any guest fees. The staff also will be able to let you know if there have been any changes to your court number at this time. The tennis courts are for BridgeMill Athletic Club members and their guests only. Accompanied guest fees are $10.00 per person. Athletic members and their guests are also required to pay the $10.00 per person court fee. Court fees should be paid before play. Unaccompanied guests are not allowed to use the tennis courts.

BridgeMill will be hosting ALTA Mixed Doubles City Finals on March 12 with a rain date of March 13. We will have 4 different levels (levels TBD) playing at BridgeMill with matches starting at 1:00 pm. Matches should finish up by 6:00 pm. ALTA will be using 10 hard courts. EXCEL JUNIOR TENNIS ACADEMY

The junior program at BridgeMill is designed to meet the needs of all our junior players starting at age 5 and up and recreational to advanced tournament players. The goal of our program is to instill a love for the game of tennis in our youth. We encourage and foster a healthy, active lifestyle that players carry with them throughout their lives. Our program is divided into categories based on ability and age. All programs focus on proper stroke development, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness at an age and level appropriate manner.

EXCEL FUTURE STARS DEVELOPMENT GROUPS 5-6 YEARS – This group is for our youngest juniors with little or no tennis experience. Our goal in the program is to help children learn and enjoy the game of tennis while improving their overall athletic skills. We focus on basic motor skills like throwing, catching, running, and jumping but also learn fundamental racket skills.

7-10 YEARS – These classes are for juniors with little or no tennis experience. We focus on developing athletic skills, fundamental strokes and learning how to play points and keep score.

EXCEL ACADEMY The Academy group is for players with some tennis experience to advanced players, ages & up, who are committed to improving their game. We also include 11–16-year-old beginner players in this group. This high energy group of players is striving to play tournaments, high school tennis or working to get a college scholarship.

The Head Coach of the academy is Jennifer Pourchier who is also the Head Coach for the Reinhardt University tennis teams. One unique benefit of this is that Academy players often get to hit and train with the college players! Players are divided by ability level and age. Drills focus on proper stroke technique, footwork, fitness, strategy, and mental toughness.

The group meets Monday and/or Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 pm. This program runs throughout the school year, but new players can be added anytime if space available

EXCEL SUMMER TENNIS CAMPS Juniors drill, play games and train in a fun atmosphere for 5 hours a day, 4 days in a row. Campers cannot help but improve their tennis game and they have a chance to make new tennis friends. Players also have a chance to cool off in the BridgeMill pool. All levels are welcome. Groups are divided by age and ability. For juniors 7 – 17 years.

For 22 years, the BridgeMill Sixes Service League (BSSL), a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, has provided community outreach assistance by organizing various events and programs to raise money or provide needed materials and services to those less fortunate in the Cherokee County community.

The BSSL is open to all women in our local community over twenty-one. In addition to providing community assistance, the BSSL also supports local businesses to help the community thrive and become a better place to live and work.

The BSSL's March 2022 fundraiser will assist the Canton-based Butterfly Whisper, Inc. The Butterfly Whisper began collecting food, toiletries, and other necessities for six mobile home parks in Holly Springs in February. The organization's project will continue through July of this year.

The guest speaker for the BSSL March General Membership meeting will be Tonya Reynolds (Baughman), the Executive Director of the Butterfly Whisper.
