NOTES FROM 19TH HOLE by Robert McGurk

The Mens’ Golf Association is a diverse group of golfers with varying skill levels who enjoy the game and who are looking for fun and camaraderie. We have social events, monthly tournaments, that supplement the Club events, and support local charity tournaments. We have groups of guys who play once a week for fun and groups that play competitive “dogfights” on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. You don’t need to be a member of the Golf Club to join the MGA, so if you are new to the game, deciding to rediscover golf or are an experienced golfer, we welcome you to our organization.

We have a welcome committee whose members would be happy to join you on your next round (or first round) of golf at the Club. The committee members have a wide range of handicaps so we can pair you with someone at your level of play and learn about the course, neighborhood and our Association.

We invite you to take a look at our website: www. lakearrowheadmga.com. Once there you will find a listing of the upcoming MGA and Club golf tournaments along with more information about our organization and a link to the membership form. One more thing. I recently learned Ward Brimmer has retired his golf clubs. For long time residents Ward is a familiar name. For our newer neighbors, Ward is a 20+ year resident of Lake Arrowhead, a past President of the Lake Arrowhead Property Owners Association, long time member of the LAMGA and was the first person to tee off on the Highland Course. To honor his contributions to the golf community, the Highlands Cup club tournament was renamed the Brimmer Highlands Cup several years ago. Ward was one of the first people I met at Lake Arrowhead ,and while he remains active in the community I will miss seeing him on the course. Ward, the MGA owes you a debt of gratitude.
