by Cindy Rincon Who says playing golf in the winter is more difficult? Well, not Paula Hall or Grace Kreft, our most recent HOLE-IN-ONE LADIES!!! CONGRATULATIONS !! Paula and Grace holed out on #2. So the LALGA polar bear group is continuing to play – Giggle golf on Monday afternoons at 3:30 and Thursdays tee times are 10-10:10 & 10:20. This is a great time of year to play when the course is not so crowded. 2022 is going to be a fun year as the Board has been busy planning the monthly play days and themes! So, mark your calendars to SAVE the DATE for the LALGA Spring Meeting to kick off our season, on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. More information about the meeting will be shared as the date approaches. Below are the play dates and themes to keep up the fun. golf news NOTES FROM 19TH HOLE by Robert McGurk The Mens’ Golf Association is a diverse group of golfers with varying skill levels who enjoy the game and who are looking for fun and camaraderie. We have social events, monthly tournaments, that supplement the Club events, and support local charity tournaments. We have groups of guys who play once a week for fun and groups that play competitive “dogfights” on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. You don’t need to be a member of the Golf Club to join the MGA, so if you are new to the game, deciding to rediscover golf or are an experienced golfer, we welcome you to our organization.

We have a welcome committee whose members would be happy to join you on your next round (or first round) of golf at the Club. The committee members have a wide range of handicaps so we can pair you with someone at your level of play and learn about the course, neighborhood and our Association.

One more thing. I recently learned Ward Brimmer has retired his golf clubs. For long time residents Ward is a familiar name. For our newer neighbors, Ward is a 20+ year resident of Lake Arrowhead, a past President of the Lake Arrowhead Property Owners Association, long time member of the LAMGA and was the first person to tee off on the Highland Course. To honor his contributions to the golf community, the Highlands Cup club tournament was renamed the Brimmer Highlands Cup several years ago. Ward was one of the first people I met at Lake Arrowhead ,and while he remains active in the community I will miss seeing him on the course. Ward, the MGA owes you a debt of gratitude.

MARINA PAVILION RULES AND REGULATIONS:

More folks are moving into Lake Arrowhead which means more pedestrian traffic. Please drive 25 mph or less to keep everyone safe in our community.

HOURS OF OPERATION The Marina Pavilion will be open dawn to dusk or during sanctioned LAYCC events.

Weather patterns are constantly changing so please be prepared for the rapidly changing situations. Thunderstorms often bring trees down, and can flood the roads so this is even the more reason to slow down. The Lake Arrowhead phone system will have periodic messages during winter months about road conditions, 770-721-7900, ext 9. We are happy to report our crime numbers are still the lowest around Cherokee County. Stay vigilant and report anything suspicious. If you experience your gate card or clicker not functioning properly please call membership 770-721-7912. FOOD & BEVERAGE Food and beverages are allowed to be carried onto the Pavilion. No glass bottles or beer kegs are permitted. No grilling or preparation of food is allowed. All trash must be placed in the trash receptacles on the shore. PERSONAL CHAIRS Property owners are allowed to bring their own folding chairs on to the Pavilion. They must be taken with you when you leave, i.e. chairs cannot be left behind. ATTIRE Members and guests shall dress in attire befitting the surroundings of the community. Extremely revealing attire, such as a thong, is not suitable for the family atmosphere of the Marina Pavilion. NO SWIMMING No swimming is permitted from the Marina Pavilion or docks anywhere in the “No Wake” zone. No running or diving is permitted from the Pavilion or docks. NO FISHING No fishing is allowed from the Marina Pavilion or docks.

ATTENTION PROPERTY OWNERS WHO RENT OUT YOUR HOME: Please notify your tenants that all Resident Guests (all those who rent, lease, or otherwise occupy a home which they do not legally own)

BOATS Boats can tie up on the side of the walkway only where there are cleats and cannot at any time tie up to the Pavilion. Maximum time at the walkway is 1 hour (or 15 minutes if others are waiting). These areas are intended for drop off and pickup. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES No grilling, skateboarding, bicycles, rollerblading, sunbathing, or feeding the wildlife is permitted on the Marina Pavilion or docks. PETS Pets are not allowed on the Marina Pavilion.

ARCHITECTURAL EXTERIOR WORK POLICY When an Exterior Work Permit is approved, the owner will be sent an 8 ½ x 11 permit that shall be placed in a window on the first floor of the property. The blue permit sign indicates that work on the property was reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Committee.

Dry Storage decals have been mailed to Property Owners who currently lease Dry Storage Space. This decal must be placed on something in your space. Security looks for these yearly decals when checking the Dry Storage area. Boat Slip renewal contracts will be mailed in early March to Property Owners who currently lease a Boat Slip. Please register boats and trailers by April 1st to avoid a late fee. See Boat Registration information below. BOAT REGISTRATION Boat registration forms may be downloaded from the website at lakearrowheadclub.net. Proof of liability insurance with limits not less than $300,000 is required for all motorized boats. Please mail a boat registration form and insurance to: LAYCC 486 Arrowridge Waleska, GA 30183, email membership@lakearrowheadga.com, use the property owner drop boxes located at both security gates, or bring your form to the South Gate and the Administration office. All items in Dry Storage MUST display the current decal to continue using Lake Arrowhead Dry Storage. As a reminder, it is a violation of the covenants to park or store the following: boats, vehicles, trailers, campers, RVs, etc. on your property. club business SHORT-TERM RENTAL GUIDELINES: PHASE I

https://library.municode.com/ga/cherokee_county/ordinances/code_of_ ordinances?nodeId=1106313 In order to protect and preserve the residential character, property values, and enjoyment of all homeowners within the Lake Arrowhead community, please observe the following guidelines for relative to short-term property rentals of Lake Arrowhead Phase I units. 1. Short-term property rentals (less than 6 months) are strictly prohibited in both Phase II and Phase III of Lake Arrowhead. The maximum number of occupants should be restricted to no more than two individuals per bedroom. 2. Short-term rentals should be registered with LA Security gate they intend to enter, and identified as short-term rentals so that the appropriate identification may be provided at check-in a. Amenity use cards, identifying renters and associated unit address b. Vehicle “hang tag” for vehicles 3. All rental agreements should include an acknowledgement that renters have received and agree to abide by the Lake Arrowhead Rules and Regulations a. If boat usage is included with the rental of the home, a printed copy of the lake rules and restrictions should be included with the rental agreement, a copy should be left in the home, and a laminated copy should be placed in the boat and/or attached to the boat key b. Violations of the lake rules and regulations may result in revocation of the issued boat permit and result in suspension of lake access privileges 4. Homeowners are responsible for the actions of guests and renters of their home and violations of the Covenants or Rules and Regulations will typically be handled in the following manner: a. 1st infraction – issuance of written warning to homeowner b. 2nd infraction – 30-day suspension of common property access and privileges for homeowner, including any invited guests and renters c. 3rd infraction – 12-month suspension of common amenity access and privileges for homeowner, including any invited guests and renters d. 4th infraction – permanent loss of common amenity access and privileges for homeowner, including any invited guests and renters e. Addition steps may be taken depending on the nature of the infraction, including contacting the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department or taking additional legal to enforce the community governing documents f. Common property damage by renters, if applicable, will be levied against the lot owner g. Egregious infractions may result in immediate suspension of common property access and privileges or other sanctions

5. “Party Houses” are strictly prohibited and deemed a nuisance and violation of the Lake Arrowhead Covenants, Article III, Section 19. Party Houses are also prohibited by popular short-term rental companies (Airbnb and VRBO) and nuisance properties will be reported to the appropriate listing entity.

NARROWS MARINA PARKING Parking in the Narrows Marina parking lot is reserved for slip holders only. Slip holders are requested to park only one vehicle in the parking lot. Please car pool guests from Great Festival Park. Property owners in the Narrows should use Great Festival Park for any overflow parking.

sports & fitness PICKLEBALL AND TENNIS MIXED DOUBLES Play year-round on Monday, Wednesday, Friday - weather permitting. 1:30pm during colder months (Nov through April) | 9:30am during the warmer months (May through October) Regulars will be notified via email when time changes. Confirm Your Information for the Biannual Printed Directory Many of you already know that every two years, Lake Arrowhead publishes a printed directory of our residents, searchable by last name and by street. This is a fabulous resource that makes it easy for our friendly residents to find – and be found by – their neighbors. The next printing of the directory is coming mid-summer of 2022, and with this comes the Herculean task of obtaining up-to-date information for all residents who wish to be included! The information for the printed directory is taken from a master resident database kept by the Lake Arrowhead Directory Committee. You can see what contact information exists for you in the database by reviewing the Online Owner Directory, which can be found on the lapoaga.com website. Login is required to access this information and is available only to property owners.

So, what do we need from you?

Most of you will have no changes, but if your phone number or email has changed within the past year or two, or you wish to add or delete information, here is what you need to do! If you DO wish to be included in the directory: 1. Log in and review your information in the Online Owner Directory – www.lapoaga.com. 2. If your information needs updating, please submit a Directory Information Form (found on the website under Documents) and note on the form that it is a correction to EXISTING data. Please be sure to include all information that you wish to have published, not just the info you want to revise. 3.

If you are a new resident and:

a. already submitted a Directory Information Form when you moved in, but your information is not yet included in the Online Owner Directory, no action is needed at this time. b. want to be in the directory but have not submitted a Directory Information Form yet, please do so and your information will be added to the master database and will appear in the next update of the online and printed directories. c. can’t remember, go ahead and fill out the Directory Information Form, just in case!

If you DO NOT wish to be included in the directory: Please send an email to lapoadirectory@gmail.com with your name and property address, indicating your desire to have your contact information permanently removed from the master directory database. This will keep your information from appearing in either version. The Directory Information Form can be found on lapoaga.com under the Documents menu. To submit, you can: download and return via email to lapoadirectory@gmail.com; click the Online Form option and fill in the information online and hit Send or print and fill out and return to the Administrative Office at the clubhouse.

The deadline to update your information to be included in the printed directory is March 1, 2022. community interest WAC HOLIDAY LUNCHEON AT LAYCC by Gloria Anderson | Photographs by Charlotte Bellantoni The Lake Arrowhead Women's Activity Club holiday celebration on December 15 was a joyous occasion. Some 75 ladies of LA came together to enjoy good food and fellowship, beautiful music, and Jane Doss's own brand of fun and games. Volunteer teams were assigned to decorate each of the club's dining room tables, and they transformed the room with their colorful designs. Lake Arrowhead Church's own musical treasure, Bev Bearden, played holiday favorites on her guitar and led in the singing of familiar carols. As a dessert of delicious brownies and ice cream was served, Jane passed out bright red bandanas and proceeded to entertain. Bandanas were the props for Jane's games, quizzes, puppet making, lively dance moves, and much laughter. Some lovely door prizes and the hand sewn name tag ornaments designed by Mary Jean Dunn and Margie McCarthy went home with attendees to serve as mementos of a memorable occasion. The Lake Arrowhead Women's Activity Club provides opportunities to meet and get to know the women in our growing community. Activities are planned throughout the year with announcements in advance emailed to members.
