THE MIDDLE SCHOOL FITNESS PROGRAM is an introductory program

facilitated by a certified personal trainer and designed to educate our youth on fitness center etiquette, equipment use and proper form on equipment in the CARDIO/WEIGHT ROOM ONLY. This program prepares our youth for future independent training.

Participants will learn respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, body awareness and self-confidence. PICKLEBALL PICKLEBALL IS A GREAT SPORT THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY THE WHOLE FAMILY!!

BridgeMill has 6 lighted pickleball courts in the tennis area. These courts are being managed by the Tennis/Rackets Department. The courts are for BMAC members and accompanied guests only. Please always check in at the Pro Shop before play. Court fees must be paid prior to play.

Pickleball/Tennis/Golf members – No court fee | Athletic members & accompanied guests - $10.00/player Pickleball/Tennis/Golf members may make court reservations up to three days in advance. Athletic members may reserve a court 1 day in advance. Players are allotted 1.5 hours for free play. This fun, fast-paced workout is performed using 8 -10 stations that include cardio intensive, strength building, core stabilizing, balance and mobility exercises for a heart pumping, fat burning, body sculpting total body workout.

This full body conditioning class combines the fundamental principles of both Barre and Pilates. Each class will work to balance all muscle groups’ strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on sculpting long, lean muscles while challenging the core with each movement. • Teens 15-17 years of age are allowed in the Fitness Center during regular business hours ONLY (6am-10pm).

• Youths 11-14 years of age are allowed during regular business hours ONLY (6am-10pm) and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18.

• Only direct family members active on the membership and 15 years of age or older may utilize the same access card.

• Access cards are linked to the membership in order to track member usage and safety.

• Each member must swipe their own card.

• Door will lock after each entrance and exit.

• Members are not permitted to open the door for another person’s access into the Fitness Center.

• All members should be prepared to show their 24 hour access card at any time while in the Fitness Center.

• Members may bring up to (2) accompanied guests at any one time to the Fitness Center or Pickleball courts. Members must register the guest(s) on the clipboard provided at the front desk. Pickleball court reservations can be made at bmacevents.com. Memberships will be billed $10 per guest per visit.

Kelly Cook organized a Ryder Cup challenge with a twist for May 18th. 2 teams were set up with equal handicaps and headed out on a beautiful evening.

The longest drive contest was won by Amy Boehm and the twist (that only Kelly knew) was that everyone on Amy’s team was treated to a cocktail at Featherstone’s after play. The fun part came at the end when scores were calculated and the opposing team came in first so everyone was a winner that evening! See photos taken that evening celebrating birdies, friendship and a win!

PUTTING CAPTURE SPEED What does relative hole size mean? Essentially it means that the faster the ball is travelling the smaller it makes the hole. Everyone has probably heard the old saying of "never up never in" or when someone needs to make a putt to tie the hole and they hit it 8 feet by and say "at least I gave it a chance". In reality, that ball never had a chance; even if it hit dead center in the middle of the hole it's probably carrying too much speed to even stay in the hole.

I would say that, for most average amateur players, an effective strategy would be that anything outside of 10 feet they should be trying to make the putt so that the ball falls in the hole with its very last roll. This would give you way better speed control, and if it misses then you will always be left with a tap in.

The ball needs to be traveling slow enough for gravity to cause the ball to fall at least 0.34 inches. The faster the ball is rolling the more distance is required for gravity to have enough time for the ball to fall to or below the equator.

This includes Men, Thursday Women, Sunday Women, Sr Men’s & Women’s Day Leagues, and Juniors. The deadline for all adult leagues is July 21 and junior leagues is July 29. These leagues begin match play in September. Players on BridgeMill league teams must be Tennis or Golf members in good standing.

Captains must get approval from the Tennis Department before submitting a roster to the league. Posted in the Pro Shop is a list of players looking for teams and teams looking for players. Call the Pro Shop if you want your information on this list.

MEMORIAL DAY ROUND ROBIN FRIENDLY REMINDER – WE NEED YOU TO CHECK IN!!

Please check in with the Pro Shop Attendant prior to play. The courts are in high demand so one person per court, whether from a team or individual reservation, should check in with the Pro Shop prior to their reserved court time to verify their court usage and pay any guest fees.

The staff also will be able to let you know if there have been any changes to your court number at this time. We are tracking court usage – who is playing and how many are using the courts.

Please help by checking in before play!! The tennis courts are for BridgeMill Athletic Club members and their guests only. Accompanied guest fees are $10.00 per person. Athletic members and their guests are also required to pay the $10.00 per person court fee. Court fees should be paid before play. Unaccompanied guests are not allowed to use the tennis courts.

TENNIS EXCEL JUNIOR TENNIS ACADEMY The junior program at BridgeMill is designed to meet the needs of all our junior players starting at age 5 and up and recreational to advanced tournament players. The goal of our program is to instill a love for the game of tennis in our youth. We encourage and foster a healthy, active lifestyle that players carry with them throughout their lives. Our program is divided into categories based on ability and age. All programs focus on proper stroke development, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness at an age and level appropriate manner. Contact the Tennis Shop for class schedule updates, available space and to sign up.

5-6 YEARS – This group is for our youngest juniors with little or no tennis experience. Our goal in the program is to help children learn and enjoy the game of tennis while improving their overall athletic skills. We focus on basic motor skills like throwing, catching, running, and jumping but also learn fundamental racket skills.

Monday-Thursday – 8:30-9:15 am (Friday is reserved for a rain make-up day) Fee/session: $52/Tennis & Golf member; $60/Pickleball & Athletic members

11-16 YEARS – This group is for players with little or no experience. Players will be taught every shot, how to score, how to play a match. This group is a great beginning for those aspiring to play on their high school team and know what they are doing.

4 classes – Mondays from 6:00-7:00 pm – Sessions will be on June 13,20,27 & July 11.

Fee: $70/Tennis & Golf members; $80/Pickleball & Athletic members

Session 2 – July 18-21 7-10 YEARS - These classes are for juniors with little or no tennis experience. We focus on developing athletic skills, fundamental strokes and learning how to play points and keep score.

EXCEL JUNIOR TENNIS SCHOOL YEAR PROGRAM School will be back in session before we know it. Our junior tennis program operates year-round. During the school year classes are offered during after school hours. Our Excel Academy will resume in August as well as our junior development groups. Check with the Pro Shop for class schedule and start dates.

EXCEL SUMMER TENNIS CAMPS Juniors drill, play games and train in a fun atmosphere for 5 hours a day,

4 days in a row. Campers cannot help but improve their tennis game and they have a chance to make new tennis friends.

Players also have a chance to cool off in the BridgeMill pool. All levels are welcome. Groups are divided by age and ability.

For juniors 7 – 17 years.
