June has come and gone and the golf course remains in unbelievable condition. Andy Robbins and his crew have done a tremendous job keeping BridgeMill in shape and with some of the best greens in the Atlanta area. Please come on out and make your reservations to play this fantastic golf course. July 4th will mark yet another great year for the Firecracker Open. This is a MGA/ LGA cosponsored event. Reach out to either organization to play in this year’s fun event. On July 27th, don’t miss out on the 3rd rendition of the KILLEEN KLASSIC. This event pairs one of the juniors in the Bridgemill Junior Golf Academy with 3 adults for this 4 person scramble tournament. The proceeds from this event support the Ed Liebman Award
Scholarship that the Academy gives away each year to the most improved junior golfers. Please come out and support this event and grow the scholarship dollars to help these juniors in their college endeavors and with their junior golf expenses. August 4-5th will mark the return of the BATTLE OF THE MILL. This will be a fun event with 46 players being divided into two teams which will be Captained by either Anthony Romano or Denise Killeen. The format will be a 2 day team Ryder Cup style event. 23 players a side will determine which Captain- Denise or Anthony will walk away hoisting the trophy along with their respective teammates. More information should be in the pro shop for signups for this great event.
RULES QUESTION: After marking his ball on the green, Anthony tossed it to his caddy. Unfortunately his caddy Brant was not looking and the ball rolled into the pond on 16. Anthony finished his hole with another ball, should he be penalized for not completing the hole with the same ball?

TIPS FROM THE PRO
It is Summer in Georgia, but the warmer temps and longer days are not keeping the BridgeMill ladies from playing golf and having fun with social and tournaments. THURSDAY JUNE 14TH Liz Gallogly organized a chipping contest on the lawn in front of the Pro Shop. We all had a great time then followed it up with dinner at Featherstone’s Grille. LGA President Debra Smith hosted this event for Liz with a short business meeting. Play Dates Chair Molly Maher then presented markers to honor the ladies that had birdies and chip in’s since the season started on April 1. Two ladies, Claudette Rosetta and Char Bailey have both had two birdies, Jennifer Corinella, Molly Maher, Ann Brackett and Cleo Hutchins have all had one birdie so far this season. A special recognition went to Pat Bauer for her Hole-In-One on hole #5 on May 22nd!

2018 MGA PLAYER OF THE YEAR UPDATE The 2018 MGA Memorial Weekend Social marks the halfway point of the MGA season. Jeff Loomis is leading way with 33 points followed closely by Chris Graves and Mickey Kelly but the top 10 are right on their heels. EXCEL JUNIOR TENNIS ACADEMY SUMMER DAY CAMPS – Session 3: July 9 - 12 | Session 4: July 23 - 26 These camps are a fantastic way for juniors to really improve their game! They get to drill, play games and train in a fun atmosphere for 5 hours a day, 4 days in a row. They can’t help but improve! Players also have a chance to cool off in the BridgeMill pool. All levels are welcome. Groups are divided by age and ability. Camp meets Monday – Thursday from 9:30am to 2:30pm Fee/session: $200 Tennis & Golf member | $225 Athletic member | $250 Non-member SUMMER MINI CAMP – 1 session left for the summer! Session 3: July 16-19 These camps meet for one hour a week for 4 days in a row. Great for beginner players to learn the basics of tennis using age appropriate equipment but all levels are welcome. Players will be grouped by ability levels. bridgemill sixes service league Our May 17th meeting was an amazing time with lots of laughter, committee reports, and great stories of accomplishments for our club. RELAY FOR LIFE raised almost $11,000 for cancer patients and their families! This annual event was held on Friday May 11th at Woodstock High School and was chaired by Barbara Germano-Clark and Nicole Shippy. These two ladies have done an unbelievable job year after year building their team that represents the BSSL. We are so thankful to have you both! The LEXINE HARPER COMMUNITY SERVICE TEXTBOOK SCHOLARSHIP committee was chaired by Judy West. Judy and her committee went over the numerous applications submitted for the two $1000.00 scholarship awards. It was our club’s pleasure to award the two scholarships to Katherine Relick and Olivia Dietzel. Both these ladies are amazing! It was such an honor to have Olivia as our guest speaker at our May meeting. She shared her service accomplishments and information regarding the club she started at Cherokee High School called the Exchange Club. Our best wishes to these two remarkable young women and thanks to all that submitted applications for consideration. There are so many amazing applicants. The COIN FOR A CAUSE FUNDRAISER has come to an end and we are so thankful to Mary Wiechert and Julie Rosenberg for chairing this event. Thank you to all of you in the community who donated their coins and thank you to the local business for allowing us to put our coin jars at their locations.
The SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM has started and we are meeting every other Wednesday at 5pm and Thursday mornings at 9:30. If you would like to join us and help make lunches for children in need, during the summer, please contact Susan Gaines at 305-510-5411. We want to give a big thank you to one of our members, Natasha Uffner! Natasha is a massage therapist at Back in Motion Chiropractic and she made a generous donation to the Summer Lunch Program. GIVE A KID A CHANCE will be kicking off in July. On July 12th we will be packing backpacks with supplies to give out at the Give a Kid a Chance event on July 14th. We will be passing the bags out on July 14th. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Lynn Weimer at 734.395.0960 Our Summer Lunch Program and Give a Kid a Chance are great volunteer opportunities for families in our community. We have children who come and help volunteer and we love that they are learning to give back to the community at such a young age. Both of these events benefit children in Cherokee County!
