HERE’S WHAT MEMBERS ARE SAYING ABOUT OUR FITNESS PROGRAMS

o

LaBlast with Laura is my favorite class. Dance fitness with plenty of cardio and light weights make for the best hour of my week. Laura is awesome! She keeps me motivated to move and stretch.

I have participated in Pilates classes for a number of years. The Pilates reformer class provided at BridgeMill has been an excellent option for me.

Instructor Jennifer

The instructor, Jennifer is very good at using imagery to ensure proper body placement while working on the reformer machine.

Over time, I have experienced improved flexibility, muscle strength and definition. I am pleased that BridgeMill offers a Pilates reformer class again, but the added benefit is having an excellent instructor!

- Molly

Instructor Laura

Pilates class with Darlene has been one of the best exercise classes I have ever taken! Her background as a physical therapist, makes me feel that I am in very competent hands! Even my husband enjoys her semi-private class with me which is a huge compliment coming from a guy! We are fortunate to have Darlene at Bridgemill! Instructor Darlene

- Beverly

- Nina I’ve had many instructors over the years and Holly is the best. Her workouts are fresh, creative and very effective. I’m in the best shape of my life thanks to her. - Nicole

As a first-time member of a fitness club, I was welcomed to participate in all classes at a level comfortable to me. I received much encouragement and felt acceptance into a fun group. I appreciate the instructors’ patience and safety awareness. Instructor Lanay

HEALTHY LIVING Learning proper form has increased the effectiveness of my strength training and I continue to be amazed at the level of mobility I have achieved working with Andrea. She’s reminded me that we can always improve our health and fitness no matter what our age. I am very happy with my results.

- Dan

Trainer Andrea

Mark’s training and dietary regimen for Ryan was specifically developed to coincide with his football practices and weight training for school using a very targeted approach Ryan was able to put on over 70 pounds of deliberate muscle weight while doubling his personal best in both squat and bench.

We have found the wonders of having Judy Cox as our fitness trainer to be the most beneficial for us to continue to move our bodies. She has excellent skills to train 2 people together with very different physical abilities.

Ryan has football scholarship offers from Harvard, Yale and Columbia. We highly recommend Mark! - Ryan & Kelly Chandley

During this pandemic she has adapted her training to our home and provided us with much needed assistance to keep our muscle tone. - Pat and Dick

The Bridgemill Kajukenbo program offers classes for kids, youth and adults. The adult program is lead by Sigung Chris Newbury, 7th degree black belt in Emperado Kajukenbo, 6th black belt Chinese Kenpo and 17 year's experience in Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Sigung has been studying for 40 years. Our system of study is comprised of primarily Chinese Kenpo and Emperado Kajukenbo with influence from the other styles such as Vee Jitsu, Kodokan Judo, American Goju Ryu, Pai Lum Kung Fu and Tai Chi. As a result, the classes are well rounded, never boring and offer something for everyone. Practitioners of this program gain an insight to real world self preservation. The concept includes fitness, self-confidence, spiritual awareness and a realistic means of defending themselves. The workouts are challenging but based on personal, systematic progression to help you achieve the level of fitness you desire. Whether your interests are self-defense, fitness, discipline, authenticity or instilling solid core values, this unique style of training has consistently shown to bring out the best in those who train here. The system constitutes a devastating form of self-defense that is based on 2000 year old principles and adapted to the modern day requirements. Students are taught how to identify threats, avoid if at all possible, and how to take action if required. In the true Spirit of the Martial Arts, true warriors are taught to be humble, caring and forgiving to the degree possible first, then absolutely devastating if that fails.

TESTIMONIALS: “This is the real deal. A complete martial arts program that is perfect for people of all ages. Expert instructors teach realistic self defense techniques that everyone should know. This is a total mind, body & spirit transformation that will be achieved through the conditioning, forms and teachings that have been passed down through generations of accomplished martial artists.” - Michael Perkins “12 years of physical and personal growth in this unbelievably well rounded program that consistently challenges me. Can't say enough about the curriculum or the dedication of the instructors. The kids program is also excellent!” - Chris Lee “This is a great program that improves you physically, mentally and spiritually. Sigung Newbury leads this program with over 30 years of martial arts experience. The classes are demanding but are a lot of fun and very educational. I have been training with Sigung Newbury for over 12 years and have found that I stay in better shape, I'm more flexible and I feel much healthier. This is a very legitimate martial arts class that teaches health and fitness but also teaches very powerful self-defense techniques. If you are looking for a pathway to learn how to protect yourself and are serious about martial arts, this is the program.” - Mike Williams

BRIDGEMILL KAJUKENBO YOUTH AND KIDS PROGRAM: The BridgeMill Kajukenbo youth and kids programs are taught by Sifu Tony Endozo. Sifu has over twenty-five years of experience in the martial arts and holds a 3rd degree black belt in Kajukenbo, and a 3rd degree black belt in Chinese Kenpo under Sigung Newbury. He also holds a brown belt in Shotokan karate. The programs are designed to teach real world self-defense in an encouraging atmosphere that promotes conditioning, discipline, self-confidence, focus and respect. Youth gradually progress through fundamentals of strikes, kicks, blocks and stances and applications in real-world self-defense scenarios, forms and sparring. Youth are also taught the basics of judo and jiu jistu applications in self-defense.

TESTIMONIALS: “My son has been practicing Kajukenbo in Bridgemill for over 4 years now. The instruction he receives has provided so much more than the amazing martial arts that he continues to learn. This form teaches kids what our culture is beginning to deeply lack: self-discipline, ownership of action, compassion, and commitment.” - Zoe Das “Our family is thankful to be part of the karate program offered at BridgeMill. Over the past three years our sons have grown both mentally and physically under the guidance of the gifted instructors. The program requires lots of commitment and effort to fully reap the benefits of Kajukenbo, but it's worth it!” - Sarah Lawes “The Kajukenbo program is an excellent outlet for my 7 year old daughter. She not only gets real self-defense training, but practices valuable life skills such as body awareness, discipline for authority, confidence, fitness skills, and so much more.” - Beth Buruss “Kajukenbo is great for my boys’ self-esteem. Each milestone has to be earned through discipline and focused practice. Sifu is teaching them that hard work pays off.” - Chris Reynolds 770.345.5500

BREATHE EASIER

We know consistent exercise is essential to maintain your health. With winter coming quickly and a pandemic still upon us, finding a place you feel comfortable to get that exercise is a challenge. GREAT NEWS! The BridgeMill Athletic Club Fitness Center now has a REME HALO® Air Purifier system. This system has been tested and proven to be 99.9% effective at neutralizing the COVID-19 virus! And better yet, the HALO system is capable of purifying every cubic inch of air that our heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system reaches. Come try a new fitness class with us this winter and feel confident in your decision to stay fit and healthy all year long!

REME HALO® IN-DUCT AIR PURIFIER The award winning REME HALO® is the next generation of indoor air quality (IAQ) technology. With increased ionized hydro-peroxide output and the enhanced catalyst with zinc it is capable of purifying every cubic inch of air that the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system reaches. It is effective against all three categories of indoor air pollutants: Particulates, Microbials and Gases. Thoroughly tested to safely remove the risks of airborne and surface bacteria, mold spores and viruses, such as MRSA, e-coli, and Norwalk, to name a few.

HOW IT WORKS: The REME HALO® utilizes RGF’s patent-pending Reflective Electro Magnetic Energy technology. Installed into the supply plenum of the existing air conditioning or heating system air ducts, the REME HALO® produces Hydro-Peroxide plasma that is distributed through the air handler, through the duct system and into the conditioned living space. Unlike passive air technologies, which need pollutants to pass through the unit for purification or filtration, the REME HALO® sweeps through the area actively purifying pollutants at the source. In addition, the charged plasma induces particles to coagulate or stick together making them bigger and easier for your filter to catch. Hydro-Peroxide occur naturally in the earth’s atmosphere and are part of nature’s process of cleaning the air. The redesigned and improved REME HALO® HVAC unit features higher Ionized Hydro-Peroxide output, which gives faster kill rates for microbial contaminants in the air as well as on surfaces. This higher output also drops more particulates from the air bringing relief to those who suffer from allergies and other respiratory issues. Now with quick release features for the cell and housing for faster cell replacement and an adjustable shroud for customization of the advanced oxidation plasma output.

RULES CORNER QUESTION Troy hits it right on number 4 past the hazard and can not find his golf ball. If they are playing the new local rules, what are his options?: A. Take two club lengths and drop from nearest point of where it was lost. B. Players must find where their ball went out of bounds and create an imaginary perpendicular to the fairway, no closer to the hole. From there, you can now drop anywhere within two club-lengths behind the line. The next shot will be your fourth. C. Go back to the tee and retee if you can not find the golf ball. D. GOLF NEWS It’s a New Year with Ladies golf at BridgeMill! If you love to play, but are looking for a group to play with…please join! If you used to play, but have taken a break to raise your family, please join! If you have wanted to learn to play… take lessons from our pro Denise Killeen… then please join! We are a group of ladies that like to play golf and have a good time. No stress, no commitments! We will start our regular play on Wednesday afternoons after daylight savings time on March 14. We play Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons with a fun event just every so often. November 15th was our Ryder Cup event with captains Tyler Dawson (blue team) and Madi Dalton (pink team). 26 ladies battled it out for bragging rights and the winners were The Pink Team! We finished out the afternoon with drinks and appetizers at Featherstone’s while raffling off our 3 baskets overflowing with Goodies donated by Jessica Butcher (Scout & Cellar Wines), Stacy Propes (Rodan + Fields Skincare) and Vanessa Mullen (Realtor with Atlanta Communities) and 3 gift card baskets donated by our golfers. All proceeds from this raffle will go to the Ladies Golf Group at BMAC. See photos from this fun event. December 13th was our last event of the season, The Christmas Tee hosted by Denise. We played 9 holes of par 3 golf and then met at Featherstones for drinks and appetizers. The entry fee for this event was a Christmas ornament so we finished off the day with an ornament exchange and a Merry Christmas to all! Our sincere thanks to Denise for her help in building the ladies golf group this year. The following quote seems applicable…”The leader is the person who brings a little magic to the moment”. In January, we are planning an outing to Top Golf and Big Door Winery. Contact Stacy at 770-846-3790 or Vanessa at 770-314-0809. We will get tee times in January and February weather permitting so join us if you can!

Effective March, 2021... Our Tuesday golf games will change to Wednesdays Regarding events requiring a sign up... If you find that you cannot play, please cancel through the Group Me app or contact Kelly, Molly, Stacy or Vanessa. The Pro Shop is not involved in the Ladies Golf Group reservations. Thanks!

WINTER TRAINING AT GEORGIA GOLF PERFORMANCE Our academy has heaters in our bay so you can comfortably train all winter long. Being consistent in your training is key to maintaining, and more importantly, improving your golf skills. To book your coaching sessions visit GeorgiaGolfPerformance.com Call us at 770-345-5557 or email info@georgiagolfperformance.com

TIPS FROM THE PROS Stay in play - Know your risk and work with it Negotiating a golf course successfully is about weighing up risk versus reward. Knowing your dispersion patterns enables you to adjust your aim, so you can minimize the risk of going out of bounds and reap the rewards of staying in play. Not sure what your dispersion pattern is? Let’s get on the range and find out. Scenario 1: “On a tight hole, your driver dispersion may be too wide for you to hit the shot with confidence. This is an opportunity to use a club with a tighter dispersion that might not go as far but keeps you in the game.” Scenario 2: “Another hole might have a higher risk fo you landing your drive in the rough. But you may decide to still hit driver and get as far down the fairway as you can, because it opens the hold up for an easier approach, even from the rough.”

Improve your odds A better golfing experience doesn’t only mean improving your swing. Sometimes it’s simply a matter of making better choices. We’re here to help you with it all.

Register for our programs on the GGP website at GeorgiaGolfPerformance. com. If you have any questions or need assistance with registration, email us at info@georgiagolfperformance.com or call (770) 345-5557.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS FOR TENNIS PLAYERS There is no doubt that everyone is looking forward to leaving 2020 behind and beginning a new year that will hopefully be much improved. Here are a few resolutions for tennis players that might help 2021 be a better year for you! Incorporate more practice time into your routine so you can try new things without the pressure to win. Bring your family into the game. Tennis is a great way to spend family time together. Teach your children or your spouse how to play. Double fault less and get more returns in. These are the two points that begin a game. Give yourself a chance to win the game by making sure the point gets started. Make your opponent play and do not give away points. Get in better tennis shape. Cross train and eat healthier for better performance on the court. Most of all, smile on the tennis court. Have fun while you play. There is more to tennis than the score. Enjoy the challenge of the game, the exercise, and the camaraderie. If you can do this, you might win more matches. Cheers to a great New Year! Welcome 2021!!

IMPORTANT FRIENDLY REMINDER Please check in with the Pro Shop Attendant prior to play. The courts are in high demand so one person per court, whether from a team or individual reservation, should check in with the Pro Shop prior to their reserved court time to verify their court usage and pay any guest fees. The staff also will be able to let you know if there have been any changes to your court number at this time. The tennis courts are for BridgeMill Athletic Club members and their guests only. Accompanied guest fees are $10.00 per person. Athletic members and their guests are also required to pay the $10.00 per person court fee. Court fees should be paid before play. Unaccompanied guests are not allowed to use the tennis courts.
