DANCE/HIP-HOP COMBO Wednesdays (beginning August 17th) 4:30- 5:15pm (ages 5-8) | 5:30 -6:15pm (ages 9-12)

Dancers will learn all the basic ballet positions and steps as well as fun hip hop moves. This program helps dancers with self-confidence, problem-solving skills, mental flexibility, creativity, physical dexterity, coordination and team work skills. There will be three choreographed dance recitals performed throughout the year. Participants are encouraged to wear ballet shoes, comfortable clothing and hair tied back is a must. For safety purposes no in class viewing.

Please bring a water bottle. No-shows will be billed. Classes limited to 12 participants. $10 per member per class.

With 28 years of dance experience under her belt, Sarah Van Zanten began training at the age of 2 at Georgia Academy of Dance and the Performing Arts under direction of Sherri Davis. Sarah trained there for 16 years, and was a member of their company, Georgia Dance Theater, for 5 years where she received instruction in ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, and hip-hop. While there, Sarah received instruction from renowned artists and choreographers from around the world.

Sarah attended college at Georgia Tech where she studied International Affairs and was involved in Dance Tech and Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. While in her sorority, Sarah was Alpha Gamma Delta’s Dance Chair for Mock Rock and Greek Sing competitions where her choreography won them 1st place 2 years in a row. Since college, Sarah began furthering her dance education at North Georgia School of Ballet studying ballet, pointe, jazz, and hip-hop since 2016. In 2019, Sarah began teaching ballet, jazz, and hip-hop at North Georgia School of ballet to all ages.

She has choreographed and set pieces for many full-length ballets which include: The Nutcracker, The Little Mermaid, and Coppelia. Sarah lives in Bridgemill with her husband, Michael, and their two-year-old son, Barrett.

THE MIDDLE SCHOOL FITNESS PROGRAM is an introductory program facilitated by a certified personal trainer and designed to educate our youth on fitness center etiquette, equipment use and proper form on equipment in the CARDIO/WEIGHT ROOM ONLY. This program prepares our youth for future independent training.

SCHOOL FITNESS Grades 6-8

Participants will learn respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, body awareness and self-confidence. Participants will gain muscle, strength, endurance, speed, agility, flexibility and preparation for future independent training. $7 per participant Because of the limited space in the Main Cardio/Weight room we are slightly changing the format of the middle school fitness program by adding a new instructor. Mr. Davis will be instructing boys and Ms. Holly will continue to instruct the girls.

This 30 minute full body workout in the Cardio/Weight Room is performed in a circuit format that moves from cardiovascular machines to weight machines. It is designed for all fitness levels to tone muscles and increase metabolic function for more calories burned over a longer period of time.

LaBlast is a ballroom dance inspired dance fitness program created by Louis Von Amstel - former Dancing with the Stars pro and world champion. It is partner-free and accessible for all levels of participants. You can be a seasoned ballroom dancer or an absolute newbie.

This full body conditioning class combines the fundamental principles of both Barre and Pilates. Each class will work to balance all muscle groups’ strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on sculpting long, lean muscles while challenging the core with each movement.

SUPER HOT DAYS curbed a few of our June golf activities, but we did get in

a fun game on Wed June 1 playfully known as Hate Em Scramble. The teams picked a few holes ahead of play for par and each members drive must be used on one of the 9 holes. There was a chance to deduct a stroke and two chances for closest to the pin. 1st place team was PATTI, JAN, SUSAN and DEEDEE. 2nd place was KATHY, KELLY, DONNA and ROSEMARY. 3rd place winners were JOYCE, JENNIFER, ANITA and VANESSA. Closest to the pin for flight A was VANESSA closest to the pin for flight B was DIANE. See photos below

THE LGA MEMBER MEMBER TOURNAMENT was held on a beautiful

Saturday morning in June. 22 ladies teamed with a friend to compete for two coveted spots…Overall Gross Winner and Overall Net Winner. In spite of extremely warm weather and a slower than average pace of play, these 22 ladies had fun with spontaneous photos and lots of cold drinks on the course.

The Tournament was made up of 9 holes as a scramble and 9 holes as a shamble.

Overall Gross Winners were Caroline Goddard and Makalee Stopp Overall Net Winners were Kelly Cook and Jill Lain ONLY 2 STROKES SEPARATED THESE TWOSOMES!! ALTA LEAGUE DEADLINES The registration period for all Winter ALTA rosters begins September 20. This includes Mixed and Senior Mixed (45+) leagues.

The roster deadline is October 15. These leagues begin match play in January. Players on BridgeMill league teams must be Tennis or Golf members in good standing. Captains must get approval from the Tennis Department before submitting a roster to the league. Posted in the Pro Shop is a list of players looking for teams and teams looking for players. Call the Pro Shop if you want your information on this list.

Please check in with the Pro Shop Attendant prior to play. The courts are in high demand so one person per court, whether from a team or individual reservation, should check in with the Pro Shop prior to their reserved court time to verify their court usage and pay any guest fees. The staff also will be able to let you know if there have been any changes to your court number at this time. We are tracking court usage – who is playing and how many are using the courts. Please help by checking in before play!! The tennis courts are for BridgeMill Athletic Club members and their guests only. Accompanied guest fees are $10.00 per person. Athletic members and their guests are also required to pay the $10.00 per person court fee.

TENNIS EXCEL JUNIOR TENNIS ACADEMY The junior program at BridgeMill is designed to meet the needs of all our junior players starting at age 5 and up and recreational to advanced tournament players. The goal of our program is to instill a love for the game of tennis in our youth. We encourage and foster a healthy, active lifestyle that players carry with them throughout their lives. Our program is divided into categories based on ability and age. All programs focus on proper stroke development, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness at an age and level appropriate manner.

5-6 YEARS – This group is for our youngest juniors with little or no tennis experience. Our goal in the program is to help children learn and enjoy the game of tennis while improving their overall athletic skills. We focus on basic motor skills like throwing, catching, running and jumping but also learn fundamental racket skills.

7-10 YEARS - These classes are for juniors with little or no tennis experience. We focus on developing athletic skills, fundamental strokes and learning how to play points and keep score.

EXCEL ACADEMY The Academy group is for players with some tennis experience to advanced players, ages 8 & up, who are committed to improving their game. We also include 11–16-year-old beginner players in this group.

This high energy group of players is striving to play tournaments, high school tennis or working to get a college scholarship. The Head Coach of the academy is Jennifer Pourchier who is also the Head Coach for the Reinhardt University tennis teams. One unique benefit of this is that Academy players often get to hit and train with the college players! Players are divided by ability level and age. Drills focus on proper stroke technique, footwork, fitness, strategy, and mental toughness. The group meets Monday and/or Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 pm. This program will resume in late August & continue throughout the school year. New players can be added anytime if space is available.

PICKLEBALL PICKLEBALL IS A GREAT SPORT THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY THE WHOLE FAMILY!!

BridgeMill has 6 lighted pickleball courts in the tennis area. These courts are being managed by the Tennis/Rackets Department. The courts are for BMAC members and accompanied guests only. Please always check in at the Pro Shop before play. Court fees must be paid prior to play.

Athletic members & accompanied guests - $10.00/player

Pickleball/Tennis/Golf members may make court reservations up to three days in advance. Athletic members may reserve a court 1 day in advance. Players are allotted 1.5 hours for free play. 1.5 hour sessions - $25/player – Get a group of 3-5 players together & set up a time to “Play with the Pro”. These sessions enable you to work on your game while playing points with a pro. The pro will tailor game play to work on strategies and shots that you need to work on.

Open Play is a great way to meet other pickleball players. The schedule is subject to change. Changes will be posted on the BridgeMill Pickleball Facebook page and listed at bmacevents.com. The weekly schedule is also emailed out to our Pickleball distribution list.
