Dear BridgeMill Athletic Club Members,

Here we are a few months into the new year and we hope you are finding new and fun ways to meet your health and fitness goals with our BFit classes and open gym hours. We have appreciated all of the member feedback and participation in our new programs and our 24hour member gym accessibility.

Unfortunately, we have identified an increasing issue happening during some of these open hours. We have recorded numerous instances of members with 24-hour access fobs opening the doors to individuals without access fobs. This is a violation of our 24-hour access policy that our members agreed to upon acceptance of the access fob. Allowing unauthorized people to access to our private facilities puts safety and security at great risk.

To address the increase in these incidents, we have implemented a new camera system that monitors all access points in real time. Members found assisting others in unauthorized entry, and thereby violating the policy, will be subject to penalties that could include membership suspension for repeated violations.

It is our intent that the enforcement of these rules will contribute to maintaining a safe and purposeful atmosphere within the fitness center. Your cooperation and commitment to these guidelines will play a crucial role in upholding the integrity of our gym community. Together, we can create a space where everyone feels secure and can fully enjoy the benefits of a dedicated fitness environment.

Please review the attached updated 24-hour access policy. And, should you have any concerns about safety, security or behavior at the fitness center, please do not hesitate to contact the Fitness Center Director at 770-324-3175.

Thank you for your attention and support in this matter.

Best Regards,

YOUTH FITNESS SPOTLIGHT

Ridley Tallent

Ages 5-11 | $45 per day per child register for all 3 days and save $20

Ridley Tallent is in the “spotlight” this month for her participation and hard work in the middle school fitness classes. She has been participating in the BridgeMill youth exercise program for many years, and her dedication to fitness is commendable. When Ridley and her sister, Rahne , “aged out” of the elementary Kidfit program, they wanted to continue participating in youth fitness classes. This helped initiate the Middle School Fitness program.

Ridley says she enjoys coming to fitness classes because they are fun. She likes the benefits she sees and feels from a regular exercise routine. In addition, working out helps her unwind after a long day of school.

Her favorite strength exercises are the assisted pull-up and ab machines. She also enjoys riding the exercise bike for her cardio workout. Keep up the good work, Ridley. It has been a pleasure working with you over the years and watching how fitness has become part of your lifestyle. Love your smiles and very proud of you!!

JOIN OUR B-FIT COMMUNITY and Revitalize your Health!

With the arrival of spring, there’s no better opportunity to shake off the winter blues and embrace a lifestyle that prioritizes physical and mental well-being.

MIX UP YOUR ROUTINE

If you’ve been stuck in a fitness rut, now is the perfect time to mix things up. Try new activities like hiking, cycling, or paddleboarding to keep your workouts exciting and challenging. Incorporating variety into your routine not only prevents boredom but also targets different muscle groups, helping you achieve a well-rounded level of fitness.

SET REALISTIC GOALS

Instead of focusing solely on achieving a certain weight or body size, set realistic and sustainable health goals for yourself. Whether it’s improving your strength, flexibility, or endurance, setting achievable milestones can help you stay motivated and track your progress over time. Remember that progress takes time, so be patient and celebrate each small victory along the way.

PRIORITIZE RECOVERY

Incorporating rest and recovery into your fitness routine is essential for preventing injuries and promoting overall well-being. Make sure to include rest days in your schedule to allow your body time to repair and rejuvenate. Consider incorporating activities like stretching, foam rolling, or meditation to help reduce muscle soreness and promote relaxation.

FOCUS ON NUTRITION

Fueling your body with nutrient-rich foods is key to supporting your fitness goals. Aim to include a variety of fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains in your diet to provide your body with essential nutrients it needs to perform at its best. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, especially before, during and after exercise.

FIND ACCOUNTABILITY AND SUPPORT

Whether it’s joining a fitness class, enlisting the help of a personal trainer, or partnering up with a workout buddy, finding accountability and support can help you stay on track with your fitness goals. Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who encourage and motivate you to push past your limits and reach new heights.

This April, commit to prioritizing your health and fitness by embracing new challenges, setting realistic goals, and nurturing your body and mind. By making small, sustainable changes to your lifestyle, you can spring into fitness and experience the transformative power of a healthy and active lifestyle.

HERE’S WHAT MEMBERS ARE SAYING ABOUT OUR B-FIT GROUP FITNESS CLASSES

A year ago this month I made resolution to start coming back to the BMAC fitness center after a 10 year hiatus. I thought I was getting enough exercise by walking, swimming and gardening on my own. I gained a little weight after a long Covid illness and noticed weakness when helping my husband move furniture but the biggest motivation to get me back in the gym was a progression from osteopenia to osteoporosis. I made the commitment to strength training with one of the B-fit trainers and began attending all the 10:30 fitness classes. After a year I am back to my goal weight, have plenty of stamina and strength but best of all my bone density results show much improvement and my doctor is very encouraged by my progress. It is fun and motivating exercising with a wonderful group of women each week and I’m very grateful for all the training sessions and classes.

I love the Wednesday night yoga classes. They accomplish the three things I need, balance, strength and flexibility.

For the past year and a half, I’ve participated in Pilates reformer classes with Darlene and Danielle. Words can hardly capture the profound impact it’s had on my well-being. Not only has it made me stronger and alleviated my back issues, but it’s also been nothing short of a revelation in igniting my fitness journey. From severe back discomfort just from walking a mile to achieving the strongest version of myself, I couldn’t recommend Pilates more emphatically. - Sam R.

Jeff Darby - 2023 BridgeMill MGA Match Play Champion

The 2024 LGA is off to a great start. We kicked off the season with our Spring Fling tournament on March 23rd. Check out our Bridgemill LGA Facebook page for photos and list of winners. We have one tournament on the calendar this month. The Ryder Cup is April 20th. We will divide into two teams and go head-to-head for the coveted trophy. Each foursome will consist of two players from each team. The format will be match play. Last year the Blue Team won – can they make it two in a row? We will see! You must have a handicap to play in this event.

Watch for calendar invites on Golf Buddies for our Wednesday Game Nights. We have two this month – April 10th and April 24th. Tee times start after 4:30 pm for nine holes. There are always fun twists and turns to the format. Teams are either two-player or foursomes. Enjoy dinner on your own at Featherstones after golf as we announce winners and hand out prizes. Tee times are set aside starting at 4:00 pm on the remaining Wednesdays in the month for Ladies Optional Play. It’s a great way make new friends while playing a casual round of golf. Sign up through Golf Buddies for all these dates.

Our Mentor/Mentee program is off and running. We currently have about 35 women who have joined as a way to get better

LGA NEWS

acquainted with golf without formally joining the LGA. Small groups have been formed allowing the mentees to get know the game on a more personal level. If interested in finding out more about the program reach out to Vanessa Mullen at vanessadmullen@gmail.com or Diane Voss at diane.voss52@ gmail.com.

We will be hosting (what we hope is the first of many), a charity tournament to benefit a local branch of the American Kidney Foundation. One of our own, Therese Powers, donated her kidney this past year. We would like to bring awareness to the need for donors and raise money to support this worthy cause. Please reach out on Golf Buddies if you would like to get involved on one of the many committees. It will take all of us pulling together to make this event a success.

A big shout out to all those who submitted suggestions to our Suggestion Box in the Ladies Lounge. The Board loves hearing your thoughts and ideas on how to make our group better. We have already answered/implemented some of the suggestions. Look for status and updates in the lounge. The remaining suggestions will be discussed at our Open Board Meeting on May 1st, at 6:00 pm. Please plan to attend. And keep the suggestions coming!
