Please note that this information may be very much out of date by the time you receive this publication in the mail. Be sure to stay informed with current Club information by checking our official Facebook page @BridgeMillGolf. Dear Valued Members: I hope that each of you and your families are doing well. PICKLEBALL – The courts will remain open on the same basis as tennis. It may be necessary to have your own equipment as the fitness staffing schedule is restricted. Answer: Under the new rules of golf, he is allowed to fix both imperfections on the green. PAGE 20 | APRIL 2020

RULES CORNER QUESTION Question: Greg is has played his ball into the green on #2 and is getting ready to putt. In his line is a divot and a mark from a spike. Is he allowed to fix them both, or just the divot? At the time of publication in mid-March, BridgeMill Athletic Club had implemented the following modifications to service due to the Coronavirus outbreak and government restrictions in place: The golf course is still open. We are offering curbside check-in. The outside staff will check you in and process any charges so that it is not necessary to go into the golf shop. The staff is taking extra precautions to sanitize golf carts and any other surfaces that golfers come in contact with. We will operate the Halfway Café to service golfers' needs. Other golf-related food and beverage will be take-away only and not offered in any group setting. Please note that this information may be very much out of date by the time you receive this publication in the mail. Be sure to stay informed with current Club information by checking our official Facebook page @BridgeMillGolf. The First Club event is the Member Guest on May 14th to 16th with the practice round being on the 14th. We will see if Kevin Glorio and Mark Stoneburner can defend their illustrious crown! Signups are now full at 60 teams, but we are still taking on alternate spots as most of the alternates actually got in the 2019 event. Please make sure to sign up if you want a chance to play in the first Club event of the year. We are once again asking Golf Members to bring outside guests for this event. The Dinner this year will be held at the pool for players and their significant others. We will have a band and this should be a great finale to the wonderful week we have planned. Anyone looking for help on their game should go to the Georgia Golf Performance website and look up their amazing group of teachers who would love to help everyone get to a better understanding of their game. Go to gerogiagolfperformance.com for more information. Those seniors wanting to be involved in any Tuesday/Thursday senior’s golf play day events, please call the golf shop and we can assist you in getting involved with this lively group. There is also a monthly group that plays golf and then goes to dinner. Please feel free to ask about joining in the fun. The new apparel from Nike, Footjoy, HMS golf Collection and Donald Ross is in ! Please come by and see the new addtions that need to go in everyones wardrobe this

Spring! The new Foot joy, Nike, Callaway and Adidas shoes are also in. Come see the latest in the new Air Jordans that have arrived! For those needing new clubs, we have a Titleist Club Fitting day set up for March 27th. Please call the shop and they can let you know how to sign up online for a time if you are interested in the new TS irons or the New TS Drivers and fairway woods. At the Academy we have all new state of the art Fitting Carts from Taylor Made, Callaway, Mizuno and Ping. Come by the Academy and get an appointment to start the year off right and get fit perfectly to your new optimal clubs. We have the newest Ts100, TS200 and TS 300 irons from Titleist ready for you to take to the course and demo. Remember, if you are looking for new clubs, whether that be a full set or just a putter, come by the golf shop to get the best service and deals in town. We have had a lot of questions about the GPS on the new carts this year. We use that system for cart tracking and not for displaying the yardage to the holes. We are using this system to help us keep pace of play at an enjoyable pace for everyone. We have instilled a new system that will forewarn players when they are off pace and when the golf shop staff will be assisting them to get back on pace. Be looking for a better pace of play as we roll into 2020. BRIDGEMILLATHLETICCLUB.COM

BRIDGEMILL SIXES SERVICE LEAGUE BSSL APRIL 2020

Together, we can make a difference

Please join us at the Terraces on Thursday April 16th at 7:00PM for our next monthly meeting as we discuss how we can further meet our community’s needs. We will be planning for our May 2nd – Relay for Life fundraiser. The theme this year is “TV programs” and BSSL has chosen Ghostbusters. The Walk will be from 4:00PM – 11:00PM at Etowah River Park and all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. Costumes and shirts for Ghostbusters can be found on Amazon and Walmart websites. Nicole Shippy is the captain for Relay for Life. Samantha Kirkpatrick is also heading up this very important fundraiser. Slime will be sold the night of the walk and Kaitlin Shippy-Nicole’s daughter-is the head of that project. Donation will be in honor of Elizabeth Crump. The Lexine Harper Community Service Textbook Scholarship deadline is April 21st. This very special service project is dedicated to the memory of our friend and fellow BSSL member, Lexine Harper. Once a year our club recognizes exemplary seniors graduating from a Cherokee County High School who have committed themselves to service of others in our community. We award two $1,500 scholarships. The applications are online at our website bssl.org. Our February fundraiser – BUNCO for Charity – was such a fun-filled night. We raised $1,895 and those proceeds went to the Cherokee Family Violence Center. Thanks to all that attended! (See photos) Our March fundraiser – Volley for a Cure – has been tentatively rescheduled for June 6, 2020. The BSSL monthly excursion was to Rhodes Hall, a Victorian mansion built in 1904 inspired by Rhineland castles. The original owner was the founder of Rhodes Furniture. His business flourished when he innovated the concept of selling furniture on an installment payment plan. Lunch followed at Empire State South restaurant. (see photo) We also celebrated January and February birthdays (see photos). Our Mission Statement: We are a nonprofit organization that provides community outreach and assistance by organizing various events and programs to raise money or provide needed materials and/or services to those less fortunate in our community. Contact our president, Mary Wiechert mnwiechert@gmail.com or our membership vice-president Sally Peterson - sapeterson61@ gmail.com to learn how you too can be a part of the BSSL.
