Swim Team The goal of the Swim Team is to teach and enhance strokes of the participants, provide a healthy, competitive swimming environment and encourage positive team attitudes while having fun.

TEEN DRIVING PROGRAM SUMMER CAMP

Children must be able to swim the length of the pool and back to compete on the Swim Team. Cost is $115 for families with one child, $165 for two children and $190 for three (Special teen pricing).

All parents are required to volunteer for at least three swim meets in order for their children to participate. Sign-ups for volunteering will be available during registration. If you are unable to sign up on this date, please call Swim Team Coordinator, Candace Blanchard at 404-993-6589.

30 Hour Drivers Ed Classes Joshua’s Law Course At The Terrace

Swim Lessons Session Dates: June 4th - 15th Sessions are Monday - Thursday, with Friday as a rain day.

Times and levels are: Level 2 Times: 11:00-11:45am 6:00 - 6:45pm Participants must be comfortable floating on their back & able to completely submerge their head under water.

Level 1 Times: 12:00-12:45pm 7:00 - 7:45pm For the beginning swimmer age 4 and over.

Cost is $80 per child for each two-week session.

Private lessons are $25 for each thirty minute session.

Rules of Golf Question Barney arrives at the course with a couple minutes before his tee time. His clubs are loaded on the cart and he parks the car. He rushes back to cart and hops in. Upon arriving at the first tee he notices he has 16 clubs in his bag. USGA rules stipulate he can only have 14.

Golf Shop News The weather has finally turned and the course is growing into perfection. Yeah! The fairways are running firm and fast. Right now is your best chance to drive #11 because once the grass grows thick it will be much harder to roll it on. Come on, give it a shot.

May is the month of the Member/Guest, the most prestigious event at BridgeMill Athletic Club. Hope you are able to participate as it will be a spectacular tournament. If you missed out this year, plan on playing next year.

With the course greening up and the temps rising it will be very important to call for tee times. Don't wait until the last minute and possibly miss out. There will also be a number of outings during the upcoming weeks so be sure to call the Pro Shop and verify tee time availabilities.

We would also like to announce the arrival of Bill Murchison as the new Director of Golf Instruction. Bill has been teaching at Towne Lake Hills.

He has played on the PGA tour and has the necessary knowledge to improve your game.

Junior Golf Academy 2018 The Academy is in full swing and the juniors are all practicing and playing honing their games. We will have one PGA Junior League team this year at the Mill, and they will start practicing in April. Come out and support these juniors in this endeavor. If your junior is age 8-13 please inquire how to get your player involved in these interclub matches with Woodmont and Towne Lake Hills. This is a great way for juniors to learn more about the competitive side of golf. 2-3 person team scrambles are an easy way for juniors to learn the rules, feel that competitive fire!

For those that do not know, this BridgeMill Junior Golf Academy has turned out over 25 juniors to play college golf in the last 13 years. We have also given 10 Ed Liebman award scholarships gong to those juniors that have show leadership qualities in the community, excellence in the classroom, and tremendous play on the golf course. We are grateful to Barney Liebman for starting this part of our program and continuing the development of the scholarships. The Killeen Klassic was formed to help fund and grow the now 2 scholarships we give out each year.

Congratulations to Lexie Dawson for winning the South Eastern Junior Golf Tour Brunswick Junior Tournament in March! Lexie is one of the Ed Liebman award winners and going to UAB to play golf this fall.

And congratulations to Hunter Clay for signing a golf Scholarship to play college golf this fall at Reinhardt University.

Look for information on the 3rd annual Killeen Klassic supporting this great scholarship which will be in July.

LGA News The days are getting warmer and longer so it is the perfect time to play some golf. The LGA has tee times on Wednesday mornings and evenings. Pat Bauer also reserves early golf on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and welcomes ladies to join her. Just call the Pro Shop at 770-345-5500, option 1 to get your name on the list for the time that works for you.

Thursday, April 12th was our first Girls Night Out (GNO) for the season. Denise treated us to a demo of the Trackman teaching aid which measures golf swing and golf ball flight trajectory. We followed up Denise’s clinic with a Mexican buffet with desserts celebrating April birthdays and a short business meeting led by our President, Debra Smith. Debra presented the budget for the 2018 year. Play Dates Chair, Molly Maher then spoke regarding our brag board and the importance of letting her know of any special achievements: birdies, pars, chip in’s so we can mark them on the board in the ladies locker room AND acknowledge all goals at the GNO’s.

The Ringer Tournament has also started and the cost is still $10 payable to Jan Small. Please note: a current handicap will be required to calculate awards. If you do not have a handicap, anyone in the Pro Shop will be able to help you.

Saturday, May 5th will be the first tournament of the season. Nancy Gillenwater is planning a Cinco de Mayo theme with a Mexican food lunch included in the tournament fee. Be sure to RSVP promptly so Nancy will have an accurate head count for the food and organizing the teams. She is also planning tournaments for July 4th in combination with the MGA and another on October 13th.

Suggestions and ideas for new events are always welcome. This is your club and we want to have something for everyone. Just contact any board member. BridgeMill Sixes Service League BridgeMill Sixes Service League (BSSL) is very busy with activities and raising money for Cherokee County Charities. We have had numerous events and fundraisers going on for the last few months, which have kept our members involved with planning and attending all of the events. It has been very rewarding and fun.

Relay For Life will be on Friday May 11th starting at 6:00pm. The BSSL team headed by Barbara Germano-Clark and Nicole Shippy will be representing as a strong unit walking, cheering and raising money on behalf of the American Cancer Society. The theme this year is International and BSSL is representing Spain. Join us at Woodstock High School and be part of the team that consistently wins the Best Team Spirit Award! To volunteer or donate please go to http://main.acsevents.org.goto.bssl Volley 4 A Cure was on Saturday April 14th and also benefited the American Cancer Society. The theme was Western so there was plenty of Western gear to go around. There were prizes for best costume, Biggest Poacher, Player Most Likely to Lot and tons of food and drinks. A good time was had by all and money was raised for a great cause.

Paint with a Purpose was Thursday April 11th and 30 guests gathered to eat, drink and paint their interpretations of “Life is better in Flip Flops�. This was such a great event with lots of fun and money raised for local charities. We plan to have it again, so watch for information in the future.

Coins for a Cause will continue until May 11th so if you see our jars in local businesses, drop in your loose change! Thanks to Mary and Susan for chairing these two events.
