YEAR 1 SCOPHEROES YEAR 1 SCOPHEROES

Joining HMSA was a great opportunity for me. It was a useful experience full of amazing work and a supportive community. I learned many things and also improved my skills. SCOPH was a nice experience because I have acquired knowledge about public health and its importance. In addition, the activities were very useful and enjoyable. I am really excited about working in SCOPH next year hoping to contribute more to the team and also learning more and more about everything related to medicine.

When I heard about HMSA, I did not know what it was, but I was very interested to discover it. When I found out, I said, let's try to fill my free time with something that might be useful. Then I found myself in SCOPH, participating in almost everything as mental health where I knew more about my mental health, climate change where I knew what's the relation between climate change and medicine and NCDs where I knew these diseases and their danger. Then I realized that It is really beneficial, as I also made new friends that I am very happy to make. I am very grateful to HMSA, especially SCOPH as well as I am super excited for the next year with SCOPH.

if you think that the environment is less important than the economy, try holding your breath while you count your money.”

The climate is the Regional longterm pattern of weather. The weather fluctuates day by day, including hot, cold, and rainy periods. It is impacted by Earth’s atmosphere, where some of the heat from the sun is held by the gas and some of it bounces back into space.

Our atmosphere keeps the Earth warm enough for life by absorbing that heat Oil, gas, and coal have powered companies, cars and homes over the years, emitting CO2 into the atmosphere. This gas traps heat that would otherwise escape Earth’s atmosphere That raises Earth's temperature, which helps to warm the globe

The Earth’s average temperature has increased by about 1.5°F in the past hundred years. It doesn’t sound like much, but scientists think that the temperature increase has caused melting glaciers, drought and coral reef dieoff. (Coral can’t survive in water that’s too warm).

They expect the climate to warm another 5°F to 8.6°F by the year 2100.

Because of this, human activity is the primary contributor to global warming. Right NOW, because of this, human activity is the primary contributor to global warming. Right NOW, global climate change is a big concern. Water habitats, woods and deserts—places where many plants, animals and even people live—will be impacted by climate change. Their lives will also be impacted. Certain regions will have greater rainfall than others, resulting in floods in those areas while a drought affects others.

Eat less dairy and meat. Methane is another heattrapping gas produced by farm animals. According to some studies, cattle are responsible for nearly 50% of the global emissions of gases that trap heat.

We can do a lot to make a difference for a healthy environment since small, simple actions have the power to save the globe

Use public transportation, walk, or ride your bike whenever you can instead of driving. Biking or walking 10 miles each day can save up to 1.9 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere every.

As much as feasible, reduce and reuse materials. When producing new items, factories release a lot of carbon dioxide,(Although less so, purchasing things created with recycled glass and plastic still releases carbon dioxide.)

Wash your clothes in cold water and hang them to dry.

Unplug your electronics when not in use since they continue to consume energy even when they are off. Your household might save roughly $200 a year on energy costs.

Wear a warm sweater at home instead of turning up the heat in the winter, and open your windows instead of blasting the air conditioning in the summer.

Be an advocate for climate change and participate in NGO campaigns.

WheI would also like to express my gratitude to the perfect team that I had the privilege of working with Salma, Youssef, Safa, Klimat, Aseel, and Ahmed Each one of you has contributed immensely to our shared goals and objectives The synergy and camaraderie we shared made every task a joy to undertake I am honored to have been a part of such a talented and dedicated team

Special appreciation goes to Ms. Roaa, our extraordinary PSDD. Under her guidance, I learned invaluable lessons in project management. Her mentorship and support enabled me to attend two international project management workshops Roaa, your dedication to my development has not gone unnoticed, and I am forever grateful for your unwavering belief in my abilities

Reflecting on my term, I must highlight Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM) in May

It was an incredibly fulfilling and cheerful month, where together, we shed light on the importance of mental health, and I am immensely proud of what we achieved during that time.

One of the most enriching experiences I had was attending the Art in Health workshop in Alexandria It opened my eyes to the transformative power of art and its connection to mental health Inspired by this, we organized the "Arts in Mental Health" workshop, a memorable event held in May

During my term, I had the privilege of facilitating 10 sessions, where we delved deeper into various mental health topics. I am grateful for the opportunity to have played a role in promoting mental health literacy and destigmatizing conversations around mental well-being

Lastly, I feel privileged to have represented our beloved HMSA in the National "MHAM" SWG It allowed me to contribute to the larger national discourse on mental health. It was an honour to collaborate with like-minded individuals and make a difference on a broader scale.

As I prepare to embark on a new chapter in my journey, I carry with me cherished memories, invaluable experiences, and profound lessons learned during my time at HMSA-SCOPH I will miss each one of you dearly

I extend my warmest wishes to the entire SCOPH community. May you continue to thrive, inspire, and create positive change in the realm of public health. FAREWELL FAREWELL

My name is Klimat Alataya and my story with SCOPH began four years ago, and I believe from the first day I chose this office, that it is the best choice that has affected me all my life so far. The information I gained during this period, made me fall in love with medicine, real medicine and made me more passionate about college.

I found myself getting in contact with students from different universities, delivering a lot of information, attaining huge experience and most of my memories are linked to my work and the pictures of the conferences I attended. Every time I lose interest in this life, I remember that "I am a public health leader " and there are many waiting for me. So I hope to have shared with you my starting point in the world of public health, and I want to see you go through many experiences during the coming years and make a great impact on society.

Hello, My SCOPHEROS!You're about to read a different kind of story. If you guys think that I got this position through an interview, a motivation letter, and all that stuff, you're totally wrong. This position was a gift, or in other words, a blessing to me.

That day I was doing great work on the SCOPH NEWSLETTER when our dearest LPO just told me to join this strange meeting with her. To be honest, I was terrified. Did I do something wrong? She told me that she was amazed by my work in the newsletter and wanted me to be a part of the local team as a publication assistant. I almost cried from happiness, as I said it was a gift for me. All I want is for you scopheroes to do your best whenever you can. I promise you that you will have a great time and please try to love what you do because that's the way to be able to give your best work. and remember that: "If you are working on something that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed.
