DUDLEY HOGUE

Welcome to Y’all Means All! It is always a joy to see you here at the beacon of resilience, unity, and pride. In a time when the political climate challenges the LGBTQIA+ community, we are more resolute than ever in continuing our legacy. We will not be silenced – we will sing on. And we message of hope, joy, and inspiration on the road! HMCKC will be touring Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, and and Springfield, Missouri. What better way to build community, celebrate Pride, and empower authenticity than by singing in cities that don’t always have the opportunities we have here in Kansas City? Our tour culminates with a must-see concert at Yardley Hall at Johnson County Community College on June 28 & 29.

And then – we jump right into our 40th season! Shawn has planned an incredible season of concerts, and we are planning special events, appearances, and community

But to continue the legacy of HMCKC, we need your support. Ticket sales cover only 33% of our revenue – the rest comes from donors like you along with foundation and corporate support. Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact. Please consider making a gift today at hmckc.org – and, if you can, make your donation a

In today’s fractured world, with political divisiveness affecting choruses and organizations across the country, we remain hopeful and steadfast in our vision: to sing and inspire a world of love and acceptance.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: right now – we need you more than ever.

Men’s Chorus.

CULLEN

Tonight, as you sit in this space, you are witnessing something extraordinary: a chorus that refuses to be silenced. For nearly 40 years, Heartland Men’s Chorus has stood as a beacon of strength, resilience, and authenticity—creating a home where LGBTQ+ singers can raise their voices without fear, without compromise, and with unapologetic pride.

Music has always been a powerful force — a rallying cry, a refuge, a revolution. And in times like these, when our community faces relentless attacks on our rights, our identities, and our very existence, the power of song becomes even more vital.

Y’all Means All is more than a concert — it’s a statement. It’s a celebration of who we are, where we’ve been, and the unshakable truth that we belong. It is also a celebration of country music — a genre that so often tells the stories of heartache, love, and resilience, yet has rarely included LGBTQ+ voices. Tonight, we claim our place in this musical tradition, lifting up the voices that have long been left out of the narrative. Because country music is about real life, and our stories deserve to be heard, too.

The incredible humans on this stage tonight are using their voices — not just to entertain, but to inspire, to uplift, and to remind us all that visibility and joy are forms of resistance.

To our audience: thank you for standing with us. Your presence here tonight fuels our mission, strengthens our purpose, and ensures that this legacy continues for generations to come.

To our singers: your courage, passion, and artistry matter. You are changing lives with every note, every harmony, and every moment of authenticity on this stage.

So lean in, listen deeply, and let tonight’s music remind you that country belongs to all of us. Because when we sing together, we reclaim the space that has always been ours.

Heartland Men’s Chorus Kansas City is the largest LGBTQIA+ cultural organization in the Great Plains. We’ve witnessed so many wonderful changes over our 38 years of singing, yet many challenges still exist, especially in Kansas and Missouri. Only with your support can we continue to make a difference!

ON THE BOOKS OR IN YOUR HEART

Despite the progress and setbacks in the Supreme Court or in the voting booth, people make decisions based upon what is in their hearts and minds. That’s why HMCKC creates programming that is musically excellent and socially relevant at a time when people are seeking clarity and understanding of neighbors, friends, family members and themselves.

HMCKC SERVES THE COMMUNITY

When Heartland Men’s Chorus sings, the entire community benefits. We have also sung at hundreds of events in support of area non-profit organizations including the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, Literacy Kansas City, UMKC Pride Breakfast and so many more. It’s not fake news when The Kansas City Star writes: “Heartland Men’s Chorus is one of the most beloved artistic institutions in Kansas City.”

A NATIONAL REPUTATION

HMCKC is recognized as one of the premier LGBTQIA+ choruses in the nation from an artistic and administrative perspective. HMCKC is widely respected for its performances at national GALA Choruses Festivals, statewide conferences and performances throughout the region. Celebrating the arrival of MAFB’s new timpani, composers Jennifer Jolley, Anthony R. Green, and Olivia Kieffer collaborate on a commissioned concerto for the instrument. Symphonies by Nancy Galbraith and MAFB audience favorite Julie Giroux provide even more musical opulence to end the concert season.

our vision

Singing to inspire a world of love and acceptance

Build community, celebrate pride, and empower authenticity with your talent! HMCKC is always looking for talented TTBB singers & passionate non-singing volunteers to continue our Kansas City legacy of musical excellence! We are a choral ensemble in its 39th season specializing in “choral theater” productions attached to our vision. There is room for everyone over the age of 18 in HMCKC: men, women, trans, non-binary, gay or straight!

INTERESTED IN SINGING WITH HEARTLAND MEN’S CHORUS?

Auditions for new singers take place at the beginning of each concert cycle, in September, January and April. We’ll be conducting auditions for our June show, Do It With Heart, on Tuesday, April 1. Click the banner below to learn more and sign up!

If you can’t make an audition time you can still come check us out! You’ll have a chance to get to know us by coming to the first Tuesday night rehearsal of each concert cycle from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in Founders’ Hall at Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral in downtown Kansas City, MO. Our first Summer rehearsal is Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Contact the Chorus office (hmc@hmckc.org) so we’re ready to welcome you! After that, you’ll schedule a short vocal audition with our Artistic Director.

INTERESTED IN NON-SINGING OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE CHORUS?

Those who don’t sing or can’t make the weekly rehearsal commitment are invited to join our nonsinging fifth section, HeartLight. This group gives an opportunity for interested people to be members of the Chorus and provide a wide range of essential support functions. HeartLight members are incorporated into Chorus events as their personal schedules permit. If you would like to know more about HeartLight, or you would like to volunteer specific skills to the Chorus, please contact the Chorus office at (816) 931-3338 or hmc@hmckc.org.
