DUDLEY HOGUE
Welcome, everyone, to Do It With —the Heartland Men’s Chorus
month has already been filled with so much inspiration, and tonight’s concert encouraging each of us to be active,
We are thrilled to share the stage with —three powerful ensembles from right here in Kansas City. Each of these organizations, along with HMCKC, are proud members of GALA Choruses, the international organization that unites LGBTQIA+ choruses around the world. You're in for a night of stunning performances — and trust me, the mass chorus finale is going to be absolutely unforgettable!
Throughout June, HMCKC has been on the move—bringing our music and message to Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, and Wichita in Kansas, as well as Springfield and St. Joseph in Missouri. More than 750 people experienced the joy, love, hope, and inspiration that defines who we are and what we do. The impact was undeniable—audiences beamed and hearts were moved. These concerts changed lives—both for those listening and
And now, we look ahead to something truly special: our 40th Anniversary Season in 2025-2026! We’re planning a year of extraordinary concerts, guest stars, special events, and meaningful community engagement. But we can’t do any of this without you.
Amid growing political divisiveness and attacks on LGBTQIA+ rights, arts organizations like ours are facing more challenges than ever—particularly when it comes to funding. Harmful legislation and rhetoric threaten to silence voices like ours. So, I’m asking you—don’t wait. Step up. Invest in this chorus. Support us and other organizations that uplift the LGBTQIA+ community. Speak out. Be bold—because we’re not going anywhere—and we need you standing with us. Your support helps keep our mission alive, our voices strong, and our message clear: love is louder than hate.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for believing in us. And thank you – for doing it with heart.
Men’s Chorus.
What you're about to experience is more than a concert — it's the continuation of a journey.
This month, Heartland Men’s Chorus Kansas City set out on our Do It With Heart Tour, traveling across Missouri and Kansas to share a message of pride, joy, and belonging. From Springfield to Lawrence, Topeka to Manhattan, St. Joseph to Wichita — we were welcomed by audiences eager for music that heals, affirms, and connects. At every stop, we were reminded why this work matters. Visibility saves lives. Representation builds bridges. And joy — unapologetic, radiant joy — is a powerful form of resistance.
Tonight, we bring that same energy home — and we are overjoyed to share the stage with our Kansas City sibling GALA Choruses: OUTside Voices KC, Choral Spectrum, and The Kansas City Women’s Chorus. These ensembles are not just fellow performers— they are partners in purpose. Together, we reflect the strength, creativity, and beautiful diversity of queer choral artistry in our city.
We live in a time where LGBTQ+ communities face renewed attempts to silence, erase, and divide. That’s why we sing. That’s why we tour. That’s why we show up. Because when we lift our voices together, we remind the world — and ourselves — that we are still here. And we’re not going anywhere. We didn’t come here just to perform — we came to connect. What you witnessed tonight was more than sound and staging. It was heart. It was history. It was hope.
Thank you for meeting us in that space — for listening with intention, for celebrating with us, and for reminding us why this work matters. Sharing this moment with you is something we will carry with us long after the final note.

Proud to Support Our Communities
Risk Strategies, a top national specialty insurance broker, is a proud sponsor of the Heartland Men's Chorus. We salute their mission to build community, celebrate Pride, and empower authenticity.
OUR FRIENDS
we can’t sing without your support
Heartland Men’s Chorus Kansas City is the largest LGBTQIA+ cultural organization in the Great Plains. We’ve witnessed so many wonderful changes over our 38 years of singing, yet many challenges still exist, especially in Kansas and Missouri. Only with your support can we continue to make a difference!
ON THE BOOKS OR IN YOUR HEART
Despite the progress and setbacks in the Supreme Court or in the voting booth, people make decisions based upon what is in their hearts and minds. That’s why HMCKC creates programming that is musically excellent and socially relevant at a time when people are seeking clarity and understanding of neighbors, friends, family members and themselves.
HMCKC SERVES THE COMMUNITY
When Heartland Men’s Chorus sings, the entire community benefits. We have also sung at hundreds of events in support of area non-profit organizations including the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, Literacy Kansas City, UMKC Pride Breakfast and so many more. It’s not fake news when The Kansas City Star writes: “Heartland Men’s Chorus is one of the most beloved artistic institutions in Kansas City.”
A NATIONAL REPUTATION
HMCKC is recognized as one of the premier LGBTQIA+ choruses in the nation from an artistic and administrative perspective. HMCKC is widely respected for its performances at national GALA Choruses Festivals, statewide conferences and performances throughout the region. Being a leading arts organization is only possible with strong commitment from our members, staff and patrons. Thank you for your support of our voices and our mission.
