OUR COMMUNITY OUR

UTURE

Dear Fort Bend County Families, Fort Bend County is growing and changing, and Latino families are an important part of its future. We are homeowners, parents, entrepreneurs, professionals, workers and neighbors. We send our children to these schools, support local businesses and contribute every day to the communities we call home. That is one reason Houston Latino Family Magazine created this Fort Bend County Voter Guide. For the past two months, our team has spent countless hours researching, vetting and interviewing candidates. We have looked beyond campaign slogans and party labels and tried to learn as much as possible about the people asking to represent our community. We took this responsibility seriously. Our goal was to produce a voter guide specifically for Fort Bend County’s Latino community that reflects the views and values of our readers, and to provide useful information about the candidates and the races that will affect their families, businesses, neighborhoods and schools. We also believe in something very strongly: our vote does not belong to any political party. Candidates and political parties on both sides sometimes make assumptions about Latino voters. We don’t believe anyone should. Latino voters are not a political monolith, and no party or candidate should simply assume our support. That same independence guided us as we prepared this voter guide. We are not beholden to a political party. We looked at candidates individually, asked questions, reviewed their backgrounds and records, and considered the issues that matter to the families and communities we serve. Thank you for reading Houston Latino Family Magazine and for being part of the Fort Bend County community. With gratitude

ABOUT GOOSE

Lt. Colonel (ret.) Dennis “Goose” Geesaman graduated from the US Air Force Academy with a degree in engineering. He then served 21 years as a fighter pilot throughout the US, Europe, and the Far East. After retiring from the Air Force, Goose spent 22 years flying for Southwest Airlines, based out of Houston Hobby. At the same time, he built a life of service in Flatonia, Texas, running a cattle and hay operation, restoring a historic hotel with his wife (also an Air Force veteran), raising a family rooted in patriotism and purpose, and serving as Mayor. Two of his grandsons now serve as USAF fighter pilots, continuing the Geesaman legacy.
