劇團簡介 COMPANY PROFILE

港話劇團是香港規模最大和歷史最悠久的旗艦劇

以及繼續推動和發展本㆞原創劇及音樂劇,令製作達到

Placed in terra incognita with nary any charting from government, we can only grope our way forward, but we certainly cannot stay put.

Development Fund In August 2002, the company was pleased to obtain the Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s approval of setting up its own Development Fund for the purpose of organising cultural exchange programmes and other activities beyond the subsidy scope of the HKSAR Government. A special performance of Love in a Fallen City was thus held on 19 October 2002 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre to raise funds for this Scheme, with encouraging returns of HK$340,000.

External Networking Besides forming local connections, the Company has also been actively cultivating networks outside of Hong Kong. In June 2002, for instance, the HKRep Artistic Director Frederic Mao was invited to be a guest speaker at the “Forum on Drama” commemorating the 50th anniversary of the People’s Art Theatre of Beijing. Useful contacts for possible future collaborations were also established with various theatre troupes and institutions during the Company’s performance tours to Macau and Quangzhou in July and its subsequent participation in the “4th Chinese Drama Festival” in Macau in November.. 《Rape病毒》 張秉權 無疆界劇場 …在導演陳炳釗的安排㆘,演員都演出㆒定的風格,營造出相當的壓迫效果。我㈵別喜歡開始時 潘燦良脫衣坐㆖輪椅的設計,這給表演之為「表演」,做了明確的定位。而這種從生活進入演出 的疏離,也讓觀眾能從比較理性的角度審視整個戲。其取態是合㊜的。 (Rape) …兩個戲就是以這樣的數度虛擬,促使我們憑藉㆒定的距離去審視現實生活㆗的㆒切:生存狀 態、夫妻關係、情感寄托、慾念處理......。從這個角度看,《rape病毒》㆗不少叫㆟不安的情節與 語言,也就如同「惡之華」㆒樣,在藝術㆖㈲其必要。它的「惡」與「醜」,在「美」與「善」 的藝術理由㆘尋得相當的理據,從而帶給不同觀眾以不同程度的衝擊。

《尋妻記》 石琪 明報 27/3/2003 近期我看到幾個舞台劇,《尋妻記》㈵別切合香港不安不寧的現狀,形成嬉笑怒罵和搞鬼作怪 的狂想喜劇。雖然主要是黑色諷刺,不能令㆟開心歡笑,但肯定好過愈看愈悶之作,而且確㈲佳 句。 劇㆗㊛角都比㊚角突出,她們變化多端,最佳是陳煦莉,演在蘭桂芳踐踏而死的舊㊛友,毫不悲 哀,很癡情可愛。她還演精神錯亂的垂危㊛病㆟,奇在幽幽弱弱㆗妙趣橫生,講述射箭謎語時最 微妙動㆟,這段戲看似無頭無路,卻是神來之筆,那謎語很易變成惡謔,但她演繹得很㈲感染 力。

《尋妻記》 棱 文匯報 15/4/2003 …導演何偉龍藉著劇㆗㆟物的悲痛在舞台㆖加以放大,變成㆒個個鬧劇㆟物,㆒群既可憐又可笑 的失敗者。縱然劇㆗帶㈲少許苦與樂,但編劇大概是想觀眾在盡情狂笑後,好好面對現實,樂觀 解決周遭出現的問題,其用心何其良苦。

除史詩式長劇《如夢之夢》外,所㈲演出均設㆒㉃兩場㈻生專場,以半價㊝惠㈻界。每次演出 附加導賞講座及專家撰㊢的導賞手冊。本年導賞主持計㈲:盧偉力博士(《讓我愛㆒次》、《雷雨謊 情》)、林奕華先生暨馮蔚衡小姐(《新傾城之戀》、胡海輝先生(《www.com》)及何偉龍先生(《尋 妻記》)。 For every play staged (except A Dream Like A Dream), a performance or two were reserved exclusively for secondary school students. Concessionary tickets (50% off) were granted to the young audience, who benefited further from a Guiding Seminar held by the Unit to accompany each show. Pamphlets written by theatre experts were also presented to the participants. Among the guest speakers at the Guiding Seminars this season were: Dr Lo Wai Luk (Let Me Love Once) and (Formaula of the Thunderstorm), Mr Edward Lam Yik Wa and Miss Fung Wai Hang (Love Love In A Fallen City City), Mr Wo Hoi Fai (www.com) and Mr Jeffrey Ho Wai Lung (Tomorrow Tomorrow Is Another Day Day).

Seminars and Workshops 除㆒如既往為㆗、大㈻同㈻提供戲劇工作坊外,今年更增加了與㈳ 區的聯繫。其㆗包括為教育署屬㆘之教師㆗心合辦在職老師戲劇訓練工 作坊及為㆗西區區議會聯辦文化落區活動。受眾層面包括㆗、小㈻在職 教師、大㈻及教育㈻院㈻生、在職㆟士及家庭主婦。 Beyond the usual seminars and workshops held on different campuses, the Unit this year expanded its community outreach by offering drama courses at the Teachers’ Centre of the Education Department as well as workshops and performances for the Central and Western District Councils. Audiences consisted of certified primary and secondary school teachers, university and Education college undergraduates, various office staff and even full-time homemakers.

㈻校巡迴演出 Performance Tours

今年的巡迴演出集㆗在㆗㈻校園舉行,劇 目以引起同㈻主動思維為原則。所選劇目為《界 樹㆘》(㆜清泉編劇)、《衝㆖雲霄》(周昭倫編 劇)及《走炭》(邱廷輝編劇)。 小組並與大公報聯合舉辦了徵文比賽作為 演出的延伸活動,以激勵同㈻反思劇目㆗傳達的 訊息。 Our performance tours this season focused mainly on secondary schools so as to encourage greater critical thinking in this audience group. Three distinct plays were produced: Boundary by Ding Qing Quan; Flying High by Chow Chiu Lun; and No Charcoaling by Yau Ting Fai. A s a s u p p l e m e n t a r y a c t i v i t y, t h e U n i t coorganised two essay-writing contests with the popular Chinese daily Ta Kung Pao in February and May 2003.


Summer Drama Camp

本年度作出一項更新嘗試﹕將過往為期44小時的戲劇營精簡為15小時,即每營為期五天,每天 3小時。今年度共舉行六營,除向學員提供戲劇基訓外,更在營期前舉行一次後台技術講座,增強 學員對後台各部門的認知。 This year the Unit condensed the standard camp duration from 44 hours to 15 in a trial run intended to attract more participants by making the camp timing more feasible for them. That meant 3 hours every day for 5 days. A total of six camps were held. Backstage knowledge was provided through a pre-camp seminar in addition to the basic drama training.

External Exchanges 今年話劇團的對外交流活動包括藝術總㈼應邀參加北京㆟民藝術劇院的㈤㈩周年團慶活動和全 團作首次澳門巡迴演出。另外,㆒個由演員馮蔚衡、高翰文及技術㈼督林菁組成的小組於2002年12 ㈪㆗參加為紀念新加坡戲劇之父郭寶崑先生而舉行的「傳奇未了」匯演演出。是次劇目是由台灣導 演賴聲川博士創作的《新加坡即興》,假新加坡新建成的濱海藝術㆗心實驗劇場演出㆔場。通過是 次演出,話劇團更與來㉂㆗、港、台、新等㆞區的戲劇藝術家進行交流。 行政總㈼則於㈧㈪初應北京文化部港澳台文化事務司的邀請前往新疆及西安參觀訪問,與當㆞ 的藝術團體及文化單位負責㆟建立聯繫。 The Company’s Artistic Director was invited to take part in activities marking the 50th Anniversary of the People’s Art Theatre in Beijing. The Company also made its debut performance in Macau. Moreover, three Company members – actors FUNG Wai-hang and KO Hon-man along with Technical Manager Eddie LAM – took part in Stan Lai’s play, Singapore Impromptu, which formed part of the "Legend Alive" series of activities held in memory of the renowned Singapore theatre personality KUO Pao-Kun. The three special shows at the Lion City’s Experimental Esplanade - Theatre on the Bay proved to be a valuable exchange. Contacts were likewise made with cultural officials and arts organizations in Xinjiang and Xian by the Company’s Executive Director during his cultural trip in August 2003, arranged by the Bureau of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Culture, PRC.

本公司為㆒間無股本的擔保㈲限責任公司。按照組織章

(2) PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTING POLICIES The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of these accounts are set out as below: (a) Basis of preparation

(庚) 現㈮及現㈮等值價物 現金及現金等值價物包括銀行及手頭現金、銀行及 其他財務機構之活期存款,以及短期而易於套現之投 資,而該等投資並無重大轉變價值之風險,可毋須通 知而兌換成已知數額之現金,且於購入後三個月內到 期。就現金流量表而言,現金及現金等值價物亦包括 須於通知時償還及為本公司現金管理主要部份之銀行 透支。

(辛) 發展基㈮ 發展基金乃用於政府資助範圍以外之計劃並且配合因 捐助活動而產生之經常性和非經常性之表演承諾。該 基金之收支帳是與政府資助項目之帳目分別記錄的。 同時,該基金之來源並非來自政府。

(壬) ㈲關連㆟士 如果某一方在另一方的財務和經營決策中能夠直接或 間接地控制對方,或能夠對另一方的決定施加重大影 響,則雙方均被視為有關連人士。此外,如果雙方的 財務和經營決策是同時受到第三者的控制或重大影 響,則此三方均被視為有關連人士。

(㆔) 理事酬㈮ 本年度內本公司未有付出或應付酬金予各位公司理 事。

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in Hong Kong and comply with accounting standards issued by the Hong Kong Society of Accountants ("HKSA"). They have been prepared under the historical cost convention. In the current year, the company has adopted the following Statements of Standard Accounting Practice ("SSAPs") issued by the HKSA which are effective for accounting periods commencing on or after 1st January 2002: SSAP 1 (revised):

The requirement for presenting a statement of recognised gains or losses has changed to presenting a statement of changes in equity. (2) SSAP 15 (revised): Cash flow statements The presentation and classifi cation of items in the cash flow statement have been changed due to the adoption of the requirements of SSAP 15 (revised). As a result, cash flows during the year in respect of the operating, investing and financing activities have been reclassified. Interest received of HK$54,541 (2002: HK$89,878) has been reclassified as investing cash flow. (3) SSAP 34 : Employee benefits Retirement benefit costs The company’s contributions to a defi ned contribution retirement scheme under the Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (the "MPF" Scheme) for all qualifying employees. Contributions to the scheme by the

company and employees are calculated, as a percentage of employees’ basic salaries and the company’s contributions are expensed as incurred. The company’s employer contributions vest fully with the employees when contributed into the MPF Scheme. (b) Fixed assets

Fixed assets, comprising furniture and fi xtures, offi ce equipment, computer equipment, audio equipment and stage equipment are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Fixed assets are depreciated at the annual rate of 33.33% suffi cient to write off their costs less any accumulated impairment losses over their estimated useful lives on a straight line basis. At each balance sheet date, both internal and external sources of information are considered to assess whether there is any indication that assets included in fixed assets are impaired. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is estimated and where relevant, an impairment loss is recognised to reduce the asset to its recoverable amount. Such impairment losses are recognised in the income and expenditure account. The gain or loss on disposal of fi xed asset is the difference between the net sales proceeds and the carrying amount of the relevant asset and is recognised in the income and expenditure account. (c) Operating leases Leases where substantially all the risks and rewards of ownership of assets, remain with the leasing company are accounted for as operating leases. Payments under operating leases net of any incentives received from the leasing company are charged to the income and expenditure account on a straight-line basis over the lease periods. (d) Revenue recognition Government subvention is recognised under the term of agreement on accrual basis. Ticket proceeds, outreach activities fees and workshop fees are recognised when the performance presented. Other donations are recognised on cash receipt basis. Bank interest income is recognised on a time proportion basis, taking into account the principal amounts outstanding and the interest rates applicable. (e) Taxation The company is a non-profit-making organisation and the charge for taxation is exempted. The surplus, if any, is not distributable to its members, therefore, it is inappropriate to account for deferred taxation in the

accounts. (f) Provisions In accordance with SSAP 28, provisions are recognised when the company has a present legal or constructive obligations as a result of past events, it is probable that an outfl ow of resources will be required to settle the obligation, and a reliable estimate of the amount can be made. Where the company expects a provision to be reimbursed, for example under an insurance contract, the reimbursement is recognised as a separate asset but only when the reimbursement is virtually certain. (g) Cash and cash equivalents Cash and cash equivalents comprise cash at bank and on hand, demand deposits with banks and other fi nancial institutions, and short-term, highly liquid investments that are readily convertible into known amounts of cash and which are subject to an insignifi cant risk of changes in value, having been within three months of maturity at acquisition. Bank overdrafts that are repayable on demand and form an integral part of the company’s cash management are also included as a component of cash and cash equivalents for the purpose of the cash fl ow statement. (h) Development fund The development fund was used for non-subvented projects which fall outside the ambit of Government Subvention; the income and expenditure account was separated from that for Government Subvention’s accounts and the sources for the fund was not come from the Government; the fund is to be used for matching any recurrent and non-recurrent financial commitments created by acceptance of donation for specific purpose. (i)

Related parties

Parties are considered to be related if one party has the ability, directly or indirectly, to control the other party or exercise significant influence over the other party in making financial and operating decisions. Parties are also considered to be related if they are subject to common control or common significant influence.
