Lot.us was divided into three parts, as there were three differently colored fabrics used successively. The first was of flesh pink color,

then black, and ending with gold. The initial flesh color, certainly corresponds to the lotus flower, while the black represents the world underneath the surface of the water. Lotus, in Chinese, is often

praised for growing in a dirty environment but remaining pure. Such a black to pink sequence might be too commonplace a structure for the dance, but adding gold to correspond to the religious

meaning of the lotus flower, was a direction that the poet clearly avoided. Mui certainly ventured more and more into her own

ideas as the dance proceeded.

Because of the elasticity of the fabric, the performers could fold and unfold it with great ease. It also achieved a smooth exquisite

end ofOctober. This original theatre network has added solo dance

performance since 1999, and the selected participating

an excerpt from his earlier Metalove. Revisions were made to fit it into the small venue and set duration.

is aesthetic.’’26 If we can keep a distance from any motives in our

perception, and relate to an object based on qualities and forms, we enter into aesthetic territory.
