The Tallahassee Collection of United States Coins Experts Mike Printz, David Greenstein, Robert Greenstein, Dennis Forgue, Sammy Berk

Assembled by an avid collector of forty years whose standards for coins were originality, eye-appeal and complete adherence to technical grade. Over the years he sold off a few pieces but retained the best of his collection. This offering of superb early Walking Liberty Half Dollars, Standing Liberty Quarters, Type and a few classic Commemoratives is what he elected to keep. Many of the coins listed here are of the caliber you simply don’t find offered anymore.

1850 1c MS65 Brown PCGS $850 Braided Hair. Wonderful eye-appeal...just a sweet looking Large Cent. Both obverse and reverse exhibit extremely clean devices and fields with thick mint frost and even, natural light golden-olive color. CAC Verified.

US46192 1853 1c MS65 Red PCGS $3,850 Braided Hair. Frosty, original red and a true Gem. Even, pleasing, natural and rich golden-red color from obverse to reverse.

US46193 1862 3CS MS65 PCGS $865 Type III. Pretty lavender and blue-green toning on obverse with subtle hints of gold on the reverse as well. Frosty, original and a true Gem. CAC Verified.

US46194 1883 Shield 5c MS66 PCGS $1,425 They really don’t get much better than this, especially if you’re familiar with just how tough this issue is to find original, attractive, well struck and with genuinely nice luster and frost. A wonderful Gem - still in the “rattler” holder. CAC Verified.

US46195 1891 5c PR66 PCGS $1,050 Deeply reflective mirrors, nicely frosted devices and truly beautiful original colors of nickel blue centers framed by vibrant yellow with a hint of light red about the extreme peripheries. Still in the old green tag holder and quite frankly a cameo but I don’t want to lose the green tag holder for the designation. PCGS Population of 13 with but 1 graded higher which is a Cameo.

US46196 1900 5c PR66 PCGS $885 Deeply mirrored fields and lightly frosted devices allow for a nearly cameo appearance and great eye-appeal. Original, pale nickel blue and light gold obverse while the reverse offers a hint of lilac. CAC Verified.

US46197 1901 5c PR66 PCGS $1,075 Stunning! An old green tag holder Gem that is technically wonderful with truly beautiful rainbow color - wholly original. A coin I sold many years ago and one of those coins you don’t forget.

US46200 1911 10c MS65 PCGS $725 Exceptionally frosty with pretty sky blue and light apple-green patina on obverse with a natural white reverse framed with pale gold. Lovely, original Gem. CAC Verified.

US46201 1916 25c MS65 Full Head NGC $34,750 Key date and first year of issue for this beautiful series. Both obverse and reverse exhibit natural, light blue-lilac and pale gold patina, exceptional luster for the issue and an impressive strike - a true Full Head and a very lovely coin. CAC Verified.

US46202 1917 Type II 25c MS66 Full Head PCGS $1,695 Frosty white with a touch of color to the skin, uncommonly well defined throughout and exceptionally clean. A great looking Full Head Gem.

US46241 1917-D Type II 25c MS65 Full Head PCGS $3,350 Type II. Wonderful looking Full Head Gem with natural light gold patina both obverse and reverse with the left obverse periphery boasting very pretty lavender. Fully defined earhole, portrait, sprig detail and crisp inner shield definition as well. CAC Verified.

US46242 1918 25c MS66 Full Head PCGS $5,775 Original white with a hint of light color to the skin and a hammered strike. Frosty, clean and a very lovely coin - even for a date that comes nice. PCGS Population 33 with 11 graded higher (but hard to believe nicer). CAC Verified.

US46243 1920 25c MS66 Full Head PCGS $5,175 Pretty, original Gem that exhibits a truly superb strike throughout the coin along with pastel lilac and peach gold patina and exceptionally clean devices. An undervalued and overlooked date. A very pretty, true to grade Full Head Gem. PCGS Population 18 with just 3 graded higher. CAC Verified.

US46203 1920-D 25c MS66 PCGS $3,550 Very pretty, true to grade example of this scarcer date - and in Full Head it’s a big ticket item. This coin offers a remarkably nice strike for a non full head coin with a crisp earhole, nicely defined portrait and the tops of all sprigs visible with just slight weakness in the center of Miss Liberty’s head. While I agree with the non full head designation, I’ve certainly seen coins designated Full Head that were not as complete as the coin offered here - if this were a common date I have no doubt it would have garnered the FH designation. US46204 1921 25c MS65 Full Head PCGS $6,150 An old green tag holder Full Head Gem that offers very nice frost and luster overall, no rub and great eye-appeal with a hint of pale gold patina overall. A low mintage P mint known for it’s poor strike, you often will find this date with the head full but the date very weak or vice versa. The piece offered here has an essentially full date with only slight weakness seen in the first 1 in the date, although it is fully defined.

The head is exceptional with full portrait, fully defined sprigs and a crisp ear hole along with very nice shield detail. A truly wonderful example of this scarcer date. CAC Verified.

US46244 1923 25c MS66 Full Head PCGS $6,950 Blast luster and truly beautiful original color. Miss Liberty’s head exhibits full portrait, fully defined sprigs and a crisp well defined earhole.

All shield rivets are visible as well as inner shield detail. An outstanding example of this tougher P mint issue. PCGS Population 24/2. CAC Verified.

US46190 1923-S 25c MS65 Full Head PCGS $6,950 Still in the old green tag holder and a truly superb Full Head Gem. Wholly original with pretty color both obverse and reverse, crisp full head detail, wonderful luster and no rub. I originally sold this coin back in ‘92 or ‘93. CAC Verified.

US46205 1926-D 25c MS66 PCGS $1,250 Pretty and wholly original and one of the toughest dates in the series, certainly in Full Head. There are just 10 graded MS66 with none graded higher and just 10 graded MS66FH with nothing grading higher. In Full Head this date would fetch North of $35,000. CAC Verified.

US44648 1928 25c MS66 Full Head PCGS $2,995 Pale orange-gold with hints of light blue and wholly original. Both obverse and reverse exhibit very nice, unbroken luster and mint bloom with a crisp, essentially full strike. Lovely Full Head Gem. PCGS Population 28 with 4 graded higher.

US46206 1929-S 25c MS66 Full Head PCGS $1,525 Superb mint frost with crisp and true Full Head detail. Both obverse and reverse offer light, original toning and genuinely nice overall eyeappeal. CAC Verified.

US46208 1807 50c MS63 PCGS $20,750 This coin remains one of the nicest and most attractive examples we have seen regardless of grade. Superb luster and original color with wonderful eye-appeal. The strike is superior to what is typically seen as is the quality of the surfaces. An exceptional coin! PCGS Population - 15 with 17 graded higher. CAC Verified.

US46417 1818 50c AU58 NGC $595 O-108,R-1. A truly nice coin for the grade with a very nice look overall. Light toning both obverse and reverse with the luster and strike you’d expect for a true 58.

US46210 1827 50c MS63 PCGS $2,065 Square Base 2; O-104, R-1. Originally toned and clean with truly nice luster and frost, especially for the grade - a nice, crusty Bustie. CAC Verified.

US46211 1884 50c MS66 PCGS $8,150 With Motto. The type of coin you can’t help but get excited about - wonderful eye-appeal. Prooflike both obverse and reverse, which is not at all uncommon for the dates in the early through mid 1880’s, but a visually arresting coin nonetheless. Booming luster with beautiful peripheral color and very nicely struck up. PCGS Population - 17 with 5 graded higher and a tiny mintage of just 4,400. CAC Verified.

US46213 1916 50c MS66 PCGS $4,500 A wonderful example of the first year of issue for this beautiful series. Superb frost and luster, especially so for this typically matte finish date. Clean, well struck and great eye-appeal. CAC Verified.

US46245 1917-D Reverse 50c MS62 PCGS $1,650 A stunning coin for the grade and quite frankly a coin I can’t understand why PCGS didn’t grant the MS63 grade. Superb luster and exceptionally clean (especially for the grade) with pretty peripheral color and great eye-appeal.

US46216 1918 50c MS65 PCGS $3,850 A memorable coin due to the wonderful luster and truly beautiful toning both obverse and reverse (a coin I sold quite a few years ago).

Booming luster, pretty, natural pastel colors and great eye-appeal. CAC Verified.

US46217 1919 50c MS66 PCGS $10,650 Absolutely original and absolutely Gem with pristine surfaces and wonderful luster. Both obverse and reverse exhibit natural white color with hints of pale blue and light gold. Well struck, even in the central devices which often shows more weakness than this piece exhibits, clean devices and fields. Still in the old green tag holder. PCGS Population states 18 with 1 graded higher but I doubt there are 18 graded MS66 due to resubmissions. CAC Verified.

US46218 1919-S 50c MS64 PCGS $11,250 A superior strike to what this date typically offers and wonderfully original with delicate pale blue-rose and light gold patina. Very nice luster and frost both obverse and reverse. CAC Verified.

US46219 1920 50c MS65 PCGS $4,750 Exceptionally nice with unbroken, original frost, pretty natural toning and a superb strike for this issue. Miss Liberty’s head is virtually full, thumb is fully rounded and stem is split down 50% with excellent overall hand detail. CAC Verified.

US46221 1921 50c MS65 PCGS $20,100 Still in the old green tag holder sold many years ago that, due to the look and incredible luster and frost, is one of those coins you just don’t forget. For a 1921, this coin is outstanding - from strike to eye-appeal to originality to luster this coin has it all and then some. Full head, fully rounded thumb, stem split down 100%, full skirtlines and impressive reverse feather detail. CAC Verified.

US46222 1921-D 50c MS65 PCGS $28,250 The lowest mintage (208,000) of all the business strike Walkers. An old blue tag holder Gem I sold probably five to 8 years ago, it is a striking example of this very tough date. Both obverse and reverse exhibit outstanding original luster with light peripheral patina. While this date is weakly struck, this specimen offers a better than average strike, is exceptionally clean from marks or frost breaks and has pretty special eye-appeal. PCGS Population is just 30 with 3 graded higher. CAC Verified (there are 3 verified by CAC).

US46223 1923-S 50c MS65 PCGS $16,900 A date that entered circulation almost immediately since it was the only half dollar struck on the West Coast from 1922 through 1926 - and this certainly explains why the 23 S is such a tough date in Gem. PCGS has certified a reported 40 in MS65 (a number undoubtedly inflated) with a reported 8 graded higher. Wonderful luster and truly great eye-appeal, exceptionally clean and a strike that will impress even the fussiest - Miss Liberty’s head is struck in full detail, thumb is fully rounded and stem split down 75% or more with full skirtlines as well. CAC Verified.

US46224 1927-S 50c MS65 PCGS $8,950 Pretty, original Gem with full mint bloom luster and frost, clean devices and fields and choice eye-appeal. Virtually fully struck for this issue with Miss Liberty’s head virtually fully struck up, well struck mid section albeit characteristically weak, full skirtlines and very nice reverse feather detail. PCGS Population - 56 with 6 graded higher. CAC Verified.

US46225 1929-D 50c MS66 PCGS $5,250 Exceptionally well struck with rich mint frost and wholly original with pretty, light patina. Lovely and true to grade Gem. PCGS Population of 56 with 1 graded higher. CAC Verified.

US46226 1929-S 50c MS66 PCGS $5,600 While fairly plentiful in lower MS grades, in MS66 this is a truly scarce coin. Original with light patina, wonderful luster and an impressive strike for the issue this is a superb Gem. PCGS Population of just 39 with 1 graded higher. CAC Verified.

Wholly original and very pleasing with thick frost, light toning, clean fields and devices and excellent eye-appeal. Wonderful Gem. CAC Verified.

US46289 1898 $1 PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS $24,500 A truly stunning ultra deep cameo Dollar, and while this date does come nice, this is without a doubt the most frosted, deep cameo dollar we’ve ever seen. Larry Shepherd, the Executive Director of the ANA and retired dealer who was extremely well known for his knowledge of Dollars, states this Proof Morgan is the deepest cameo he’s ever seen and is virtually certain he sold this coin back in 1997. If there was a designation for “DD CAM - double Deep Cameo” this coin would define it. True to grade technically with outstanding eye-appeal. CAC Verified.

US46250 1893 Isabella 25c MS67 PCGS $14,950 Beautiful, original color, superb surfaces and wonderful luster and mint bloom frost. The obverse offers Sky blue, rose, blue-purple and hints of pale rose and green. The reverse center is vibrant golden-orange framed with plum, rose, pale green and vibrant blue. Exceptionally clean and absolutely true to grade. CAC Verified.

US46237 Spanish Trail 50c MS67 PCGS $3,900 Still in the old green tag holder and offering exceptionally nice luster, surfaces and original white color with traces of light blue and hints of light gold. An impressive coin for this issue. CAC Verified.

US46458 1907 High Relief $20 MS64 PCGS $31,250 High Relief-Flat Edge. Wonderful, original color along with rich luster and truly great overall eye-appeal. Devices and fields are quite clean and most certainly in keeping with the grade and when you consider how many dipped and messed with High Relief’s are in holders, this coin becomes more impressive. The Flat Edge variety is quite a bit scarcer than the Wire Edge variety. A few minor frost breaks set the grade for an otherwise Gem. CAC Verified.
