OUR SUSTAINABILITY
We’re lucky in New Zealand to have such a beautiful environment in our back yard. It’s up to us as businesses to make a difference and ensure our activities aren’t harming nature in any way. We have several policies/processes which we follow to achieve this, some of which are outlined below:
• Electrified Fleet – Electric/battery power now powers 13% of our fleet. While the majority of these items are in our Access fleet, we are actively considering further investments in other ranges as the technology develops. We also prioritise our purchasing towards machines that have higher emission standards and include Ad-blue.
• Responsible Waste management – We are keenly aware of how poorly disposed of waste can damage the beautiful environment we live in. Therefore we go to great lengths to safely dispose of oils, recycle filters and remove waste oil from dirty waste water before it heads into the wastewater. We also actively recycle waste cardboard, paper and plastic throughout our branches to reduce materials heading to the landfill, as well as looking at ways to reduce our usage in the first place.
• Power reduction - Our modern facilities are all equipped with the latest LED lighting technology to reduce power usage. We also ensure we purchase tech with reduced energy usage to lower our electricity demands.

ENVIRONMENTAL LEVY
The team here at HireWays understands how important sustaining the natural environment is for our future generations.
We have adopted several environmental measures in the past 5 years to reduce our impact, including but not limited to:
1. The environmental disposal of waste oil and fluids
2. The catchment and environmental disposal of spoil from equipment cleaning
3. Environmentally friendly Battery disposal
4. Recycling of waste from our offices, dispatch and workshops.
We do this in line with the EPA (Environmental Protection Authority) regulations, and relevant councils and local authorities’ requirements. To maintain this level of environmental responsibility, we have incurred substantial ongoing expenses which we can no longer continue to absorb.
From the 10th of June 2024, we will be implementing a static charge for every contract upon the completion of the hire, which are as follows.
Fees are calculated based on the weight of the plant item or powered/hydraulic attachment.
