It really is all happening

2023 is flying by and as you read this, we are about to congregate at Sydney Olympic Park for our annual HRIA convention. I’m looking forward to catching up with many of you.

In 2023, there have been some incredible events across the country proving that our industry is back in full swing! The Australian Open, Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles tours, as well as the Formula 1 Grand Prix have kept the big companies busy, while smaller events and weddings are equally as busy. It really is all happening which is great to see.

A key outcome from the focus groups we did last year was to provide more access to other like-sized and like-minded businesses and HIRE23 is the opportunity! We have an amazing panel of event industry peers speaking in various sessions — including the Events Workshop and Future of Hire — and I’d encourage you to take the time to ask questions. I also want to personally thank the panel for giving up their time to participate.

Our Women in Hire and Young Professionals programs will conclude at HIRE23. This means it’s time to start thinking about who in your business is ready to take on the challenge of either of these incredible programs in 2023/2024. Access to these programs are a benefit of your membership and are an amazing resource for growth and learning for the next generation of shining stars. We typically don’t see a huge representation from the events sector in these programs and I’d love to see that change. With at least three dedicated mentors from the events space, it would be great to see some leaders take on the challenge.
