Demand has continued to increase for safe, reliable, performance-oriented electrified equipment. Genie has announced three new product offerings that will meet the industry’s needs while also delivering the quality and low total cost of ownership the Genie brand is known for.

The Genie® Lithium-Ion battery option for GS™ E-Drive scissor lifts, as well as two award-winning hybrid boom lifts — the S®-60 FE telescopic boom lift and Z®-45 FE articulating boom lifts — will be available in Australia beginning May 24th. The launch date coincides with HIRE23, where Genie will display its latest innovations in electrification on Booth # 36.

Genie Lithium-Ion Battery for Genie GS E-Drive Scissor Lifts

Genie Lithium-Ion battery’s fully-sealed IP67 housing protects it from water and dust contamination. Based on extensive testing, it has an expected lifespan of about 10 years, making it the only battery you’ll need for the normal life of your scissor lift.

Introduced in 2020, Genie E-Drive scissor lifts are already low-maintenance machines with brushless, fully sealed AC drive motors and 70% fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings. Genie E-Drive LithiumIon scissor lifts reduce maintenance costs by an additional 11% compared to flooded lead acid (FLA) batteries because the Lithium-Ion batteries do not need to be watered or replaced.

On the jobsite, E-Drive Lithium-Ion scissor lifts offer superior productivity and performance, even in extreme temperatures ranging between 120° F (49° C) to -20° F (29° C). Because many rental companies look to give older equipment a second life on the used equipment market, Genie Lithium-Ion powered scissor lifts can be retrofitted with FLA batteries when the unit reaches the end of its useful life in a rental fleet. The Lithium-Ion battery option is available on nearly all GS E-Drive slab scissor lifts, with the exception of the GS-1432m and GS1932m micro scissor lifts and the GS-4046 and GS-4655 slab scissor lifts.

Hybrid Z-45 FE and S-60 FE Boom Lifts

The Genie® hybrid Z®-45 FE hybrid articulating boom responds to increased demand for versatile and cost-effective “green” access solutions in the 16 m range. Designed to optimize productivity while working at height, the Genie Z-45 FE boom lift boasts a maximum working height of 15.92 m, a maximum horizontal outreach of 6.94 m, a maximum up-and-over reach of 7.50 m and a leading 300 kg maximum lift capacity. The hybrid S-60 FE boom lift is the industry’s first lightweight, four-wheel drive electrified telescopic boom lifts in the 18 m height class. The S-60 FE provides a working height of 20 m, a 1.83 m jib with

130° rotation and a platform capacity of 300 kg. Weighing just 8,051 kg, the S-60 FE is one-third lighter than comparable booms in its class, making it ideal for city jobs, applications that require low floor loading, and work on soft and loose terrain.

With true 4WD performance, 45% gradeability and active oscillating axles, the Z-45 FE and the S-60 FE are productive, reliable choices for rough terrain. DPFfree engines and fully-sealed AC electric drive motors reduce maintenance needs. Additionally, the optimized design of the S-60 FE reduces fewer hydraulic components in the drive chassis by 70%, further simplifying maintenance and reducing the total cost of ownership.

Like other Genie FE hybrid lifts, the Z-45 FE and S-60 FE can be used in electric mode, offering a full, standard work day of no-engine, zero-emission, zero-noise productivity. In hybrid mode, Genie FE booms offer reduced emissions and the ability to work a full, standard work week on a single tank of fuel. Additionally, FE booms can be charged from a standard, 10 amp electrical outlet. For jobsites without charging infrastructure, FE booms are the ideal solution because the FE boom’s intelligent control system can charge the machine’s battery while operating in hybrid mode, even if the battery is dead. This is one of the biggest reasons that Genie FE hybrid booms are such a popular choice for jobsites looking for a lower-emissions alternative to traditional diesel machines.

High-efficiency AC drive motors provide similar torque to hydraulic drive motors, while using 30-40% less energy.
