DIRECTOR’S NOTE When you need a vacation from your life, there’s nothing like finding sisterhood and solidarity with a brand new friend. That’s exactly what happens when two women scorned form a bond in the Wishy Washy Washeteria. It’s here that Lana Mae Hopkins and Katie Lane Murphy find common ground amidst dirty socks and laundry suds in this foot-stomping celebration of country music, learning that it’s never too late to follow your dreams. It’s been such a pleasure coming home to the Hippodrome to work with this brilliant staff of artists and these two amazingly talented women to bring Honky Tonk Laundry to life here in Gainesville. With songs from some of country music’s favorite female artists, we hope you have as much fun watching as we had putting together this heartwarming, down-home musical. Y’all enjoy the show!

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR’S NOTE The Hippodrome Theatre is a first-class regional theatre and artistic space committed to excellence in North Florida and creates programming that reflects and elevates the diverse cultures and perspectives of our region as well as create and maintain ongoing engagement with our community. But what is a regional theater? Regional theater is a permanent nonprofit professional theatre company that has established roots outside the major theatre centers. Besides bringing first-rate theatre to our region, we often have programs to nurture local talent and to encourage new plays of special regional interest. But what makes professional theater different from community theater or educational theatre? In a professional theatre everyone associated with a production, from directors, technicians, designers, and actors, are paid for their time and talent. And while community and educational theater provide opportunities for the community to take an active role in all phases of theater, our professional regional theater hires professionals who are highly trained and, at least during the production, the production is their full time job. This allows the theater to produce high quality productions very quickly - in less than three weeks! As the artistic center of downtown Gainesville, The Hippodrome, your regional professional theater, will continue to search for new forms and new theatrical voices, support local community talent, bring in the highest quality professionals, and continue to encourage creativity and diversity in all of its performance spaces.

WHO’S WHO IN HONKY TONK LAUNDRY Roger Bean Roger has created the long-running hit The Marvelous Wonderettes (over 1,200 performances Off-Broadway), along with the sequels Wonderettes: Caps & Gowns, Winter Wonderettes, Wonderettes: Dream On, and the new large-cast Wonderettes: Glee Club Edition. Original cast albums for all Wonderettes shows are available from iTunes and Amazon. The Marvelous Wonderettes received the 2007 LA Ovation Award for Best Musical for its recordbreaking Los Angeles run and continues to be an audience favorite in theatre companies throughout the country. She was most recently seen playing Idina Menzel’s track in See What I Wanna See at Arc Stages. No stranger to a hootenanny: She has done Honky Tonk Angels as Darlene (aka Loretta Lynn) at ArtisTree Music Theater and Honky Tonk Angels yet again but as Sue Ellen (aka Dolly Parton) at Summer Theater of New Canaan. Other credits include: Footloose (Rusty), Disney on Classic (Ariel/Elsa), Really Rosie (Rosie), The Music Man (Maud Dunlap). Emily King Brown* (Lana Mae) Emily King Brown, a native of Richmond, Virginia, is thrilled to be making her Hippodrome debut! Recent highlights: Original Cast of the re-imagined Footloose (Norwegian Creative), Tanya in Mamma Mia! (La Mirada), Madame de la Grande Bouche in Beauty & the Beast (Musical Theatre West), West-Coast Regional premiere of Shrek the Musical (3-D Theatricals), and originating the title character in Kentucky Madam, an immersive theatrical experience. She has been affiliated with the Hippodrome Theatre since 2003, first as Properties Intern, then as Assistant Stage Manager before moving to New York City to pursue a career in theatre. She returned to the Hipp as the AEA Stage Manager of A Christmas Carol in 2005 & 2006. She has worked professionally for The Metropolitan Opera (NYC), The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (Madison, NJ), North Shore Music Theatre (Beverly, MA), and Times Square New Year’s Eve 2006-2010 (NYC). In 2006, Amber served as a Production Assistant on the Broadway musical, Grey Gardens. Amber spent five years working with Manhattan Theatre Club as a Subscriber Services Representative and two years as a House Manager at Playwrights Horizons, both in New York City. Originally from Maryland, she holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Salisbury University. Amber is a proud member of the Hippodrome Company and the Actors’ Equity Association. Robert P. Robins (Production Manager/Lighting Designer) Bob is enjoying his 35th season at the Hippodrome. During his tenure here at the Hippodrome, Bob has provided lighting designs for over 300 Main Stage productions. Over the course of his time at the Hippodrome, Bob has held many titles such as lighting designer, sound engineer, live audio mixer, stage manager for Hippodrome Mainstage; touring productions and Theatre For Young Audiences tours, pyrotechnician, lightboard operator, and bartender. Today, in addition to lighting designer and production manager, Bob is also the facility manager of the 110 year old building that the Hippodrome calls home. Bob also provides freelance lighting designs around the country when he can. WHO’S WHO IN HONKY TONK LAUNDRY Warren Goodwin (Technical Director) Warren joined the Hippodrome in 2004 as a carpenter in the scene shop, and assumed the role of Master Carpenter in 2006. In addition to helping build over a hundred of Hippodrome sets, Warren served as coscenic designer on The Christians and The Wolves. He is thrilled to be currently serving as Technical Director. In his free time, Warren enjoys painting, and is an accomplished local artist. You can often find his work on display next door at Maude’s Cafe. Bill Boothman (Lead Electrician) Prior to joining the Hipp Bill worked with the stagehand’s union IATSE local 115 in Jacksonville, FL. Bill is a synthesizer hobbyist. Amanda Nipper (Sound Designer) Amanda is thrilled to be in her ninth season at the Hippodrome. Other regional credits include Cape Fear Regional Theatre: Jesus Christ Superstar, Legally Blonde: The Musical, and The Parchman Hour: Songs and Stories of the ’61 Freedom Riders as the mix engineer in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Dorset Theatre Festival: Good People, The Whore and Mr. Moore, Boeing Boeing, and Deathtrap. Keep moving forward. Erin Jester (Costume Designer/Shop Supervisor) is delighted to return to the Hippodrome for its 49th season. Erin is a UF alumna and a former Hippodrome costumes intern (2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons), and in 2020 received her MFA in costume design and technology from the University of Southern Mississippi. Previous costume design credits include productions of Cabaret, Much Ado About Nothing and Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses. Other credits include costume historical research for North Carolina State University’s Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies, historical costume reproduction for the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel, MS, and costume coordination for the Moscow Ballet’s The Great Russian Nutcracker and the independent film series 12 Westerns in 12 Months, directed by Travis Mills. Susan Schuld (Accent/Dialect and Text Coach) has been acting and vocal coaching nationally for over 25 years and is an Associate Professor of Voice and Speech here at the School of Theatre and Dance. M.F.A in Acting from Rutgers University, Designated Linklater Teacher, Certified Teacher of Knight-Thompson Speechwork, and a National Michael Chekhov Association Teacher.
WHO’S WHO IN HONKY TONK LAUNDRY Tim Dygert (Scenic & Props Designer) Tim is a staff member of The Harn Museum of Art, and the owner and operator of Dygert Design LLC, a professional design firm based in Gainesville Florida, specializing in entertainment, residential, and commercial design and consulting. He has been involved in theatre and event production for the entirety of his adult life, having been instrumental in the creation of more than 500 live theatre, dance, music, and corporate events. Tim has worked with internationally recognized and award-winning designers, playwrights, performers, and entertainment professionals. Tim also serves as the Harn Museum of Art’s Exhibit Installation Coordinator and Preparator. He is a professional art handler, assists in the design and installation of exhibitions, and fabricates mounts and custom art installations. His design work can be seen at dygertdesign.com. Bryan Mercer^ (Musical Director) returns to the HIPP since playing Walter in Lone Star Spirits, the piano in Scrooge in Rouge, the Candy Man in Let the Right One In, Horatio in Hamlet, Steve in Becky’s New Car, Jane in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, John Merrick in The Elephant Man, Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, Mrs. Bumbrake in Peter and the Starcatcher, Gibson in MR. BURNS, a post electric play. He has also musical directed Trailer Park: The Musical, Mr. Burns, The Marvelous Wonderettes, Honkytonk Angels, and many others. He has been known to Atlanta audiences for over thirty-five years as an actor, singer, director, designer, painter, and served as puppeteer, composer, musician, and musical director for 15 years at the internationally acclaimed CENTER FOR PUPPETRY ARTS.
