T

he best decisions in my life have come when I’ve been paying attention to the voice inside me—some call it a “gut feeling.” To operate in a purely physical and mental state is exhausting without the peace and joy that comes from resting in the spirit.

I didn’t fully realize what that was for many years in my life. I only caught glimpses of that feeling when I took walks alone on the beach, or took time to think and be thankful while driving. I could almost feel someone talking to me, not with an audible voice, but through the feeling of hearing.

I felt it when I knew Joe was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I felt it the day I was lying in a hammock at Hippocrates and something told me to adopt children. I felt it the day I decided to change my career. And, of course, I’ve felt it many times while raising my kids, when my gut feeling told me to check where they really were on a Friday evening.

When we stay so busy, we live mostly out of the physical functions. We rarely find time to sit and listen to our most important life force: spirit.

As a busy wife, mother of six and full-time worker, weeks fly by. I find at times that I’ve turned into a machine. I try to take those spiritual breaks, but good intentions aren’t always easy to keep. That’s when I return to Hippocrates.

Since my first three-week stay more than eight years ago, I have been back at least 15 times, sometimes for just a week. I use that week to rest, reconnect to my spiritual side and recharge for my future. I’m better for it, and so is my family!

What you discover about yourself inside and out during a three-week stay at Hippocrates will change your life forever. Everyone should experience it at least once! But don’t feel pressured to only return for three weeks at a time.

Even one week here and there as a regular part of your health regime—like going to the dentist for a cleaning—will add so much to your life.

oday’s dysfunctional culture and disjointed society have abandoned instinct and elevated intellect. The voice of our hearts and souls is lost and without value. In our work here at the institute, we are given daily opportunities to watch people struggle to recapture their essence. When they are brave enough to let go of all the nonsensical and ritualistic processes they call normal, their voice of reason speaks. What we have seen time and again is people releasing their fear and embracing themselves.

Navigating back through the layers of deception in their lives, they finally reach richness from the well of healing. This deep, abundant nourishment allows them to tap into the very universe they are part of. Finally, they reach the place they once knew when they were born. Pure, purposeful, enriching power arrives in every cell and washes over them like the light of God. This is the place we all should aspire to reside. There is no need for pretense or boasting or haphazard articulation. Only genuine, passionate and fulfilling energy abounds.

Every person who ventures into the forest of fortune can find their place of origin. It represents a beautiful spring day where all is well and anything is possible. New life forges forward, precipitating spirited pursuit that raises the potential of the participant. There is nothing that cannot be done or achieved at this moment. Anyone’s failure to know this peaceful place breaks their hearts.

Recently we spoke to one alumnus about her struggle reversing diabetes. In the first phase of her recovery, she did all the physical procedures (diet, supplements, movement, noninvasive therapies) suggested. Once her blood sugar regulated and her savage desire for food and sugar waned, her doctors were surprised and elated to tell her she should remove her medications. But although it appeared she succeeded, she still felt like a diabetic. Finally, as she lay in bed one night, she had a revelation. Her heart opened, she became warm and she recalled the event that eventually caused her to abuse herself into a disorder: Her hungry family was unable to feed her growing up. So when she matured, she was determined to always have enough food to eat. “Until I recognized what caused my disease, I truly hadn’t healed it,” as she stated.

Spirit in action is the only real spiritual process. Learning ritualistically and supporting dogma are elusive and without true merit. Until you are willing to let go of that and embrace you 100 percent, you are only living academically. Give yourself the privilege to unlock your heart and soul. You can be everything you dream of!

You have said that 90 percent of vitamins are ineffective chemical synthetics made in laboratories. How are the supplements sold at Hippocrates any different?

Does Hippocrates use electromagnetic therapy?

I had never heard of it until I attended a presentation where people shared how this therapy changed their health and saved their lives.

It is used for vascular therapy, nutrient and oxygen supply, waste disposal, strength and energy, mental acuity, stress reduction, sleep management and more.

Since 1980, we have utilized the state-of-the-art electromagnetic cold laser and other similar technologies. Although the Bemer is an exceptional modern unit, we prefer to employ QRS, which is showing significant improvement over technologies we used before.

We recently took a pioneering step by employing zero point gravity frequencies across the entire Hippocrates campus for all our guests and coworkers to gain the therapeutic benefits of what Einstein called “the subtle microcurrent that creates and unifies all life.”

I’ve heard that cooked beets contain a significant amount of healthy nutrients like folate, magnese and betalains. But I’ve also heard beets are hybrids and aren’t healthy at all.

What is your opinion?

As you may know, beets are excessively high in sugar.

Large sections of the world collect their table sugar from this root. The nutritious parts of the beet are the greens— in fact, they are where the highest nutrients lie. You can find folate in much greater quantities in sprouted grains and manganese in a number of healthier, sugarless foods.

When I last visited Hippocrates, I was told the lifestyle would not enable me to stop taking synthetic medication for hypothyroid. Has anything changed since then?

I’m sorry to hear you were misinformed, but that has never been the case. For decades, the people who attend our programs have been able to reduce—and often eliminate—their need for synthetic medication (including synthetic thyroids). This method has been effective for me so far, but I have one problem: constipation! Do you have any suggestions for helping me stay regular?

First, I want to thank Ty for his commitment to truth in the conquest of cancer. For the record, though, the approach we’ve developed over the last 62 years does not include prolonged liquid diets. Constipation does not come from a lack of roughage as much as a lack of healthy bacteria in the intestines. Plus, the shape, size and dimension of the colon can become contorted by consuming the nonfoods that disrupt, expand, prolapse and collapse it. With a sensible intestinal cleanse, it has to have time to regain the natural state it had when you were a child.

I

first visited Hippocrates Health Institute 30 years ago with my father. He was 69 years old at the time he was diagnosed with stage 4+ melanoma cancer.

His surgeon in Israel informed both my brother and me that my father was terminal and beyond the benefits of chemotherapy or radiation. We were then given the heartbreaking prognosis: six to 12 months to live. This news came just six years after the tragic death of my mother, who had passed away in a horrible car accident, leaving my father a widower.

Once our initial sense of shock wore off, a deep call to action overtook us. We looked for hope. A close friend of the family introduced us to a man named Aaron, who was given only three months to live after being diagnosed with latestage liver cancer. Yet here he was, still alive years later and talking to us.

That was when we learned about Hippocrates Health Institute. Aaron said he’d never felt better in his life. Four days later, we were on our flight!

In only a few short days, my father was already responding to the lifestyle change. I knew

nothing about alternative medicine at the time, so I worried he was getting worse. But Anna Maria reassured me that he was simply detoxing through the skin—a great sign! His body had started to heal itself.

When we returned home to Israel, we realized quickly that access to sprouts, grains,and wheatgrass was simply nonexistent. My father, determined to continue living the Hippocrates Way, began growing his own sprouts and wheatgrass.

While his health continuously improved, there were still a few scares along the way.

The word “cancer” was then as it remains today: a feared word. So of course we became fearful when my father was struck twice with mild skin cancer, and then colon cancer.

But any time I got worried, I would call Brian and he would say, “Don’t worry, love. It’s just simple cancer. It will be fine.” His calmness and clarity changed my own perceptions.

I realized that, given the right instruction and the right tools, cancer was just another illness my father’s body could heal.

My father returned almost every year to deepen his knowledge about the lifestyle and healing tactics. He passed away

at the age of 91, 22 years after his initial diagnosis. He lived a long, happy life because of the education and tools at the Hippocrates Health Institute. But my father was simply another in a very long line of Hippocrates success stories.

If I could share one message to take away, it would be this: Love yourself. I saw those words written on a chalkboard at Hippocrates during that very first visit with my father. As children, we are often taught to memorize prayers, to read holy books and to attend services. We are then evaluated and judged on how seriously we take this process. Seemingly the more pious we are, the holier we are. After reaching layer after layer, plateau after plateau, we are supposed to achieve enlightenment and consciousness. Sadly, I think this approach robs us of the true meaning of spirit.

We are each born with a bottomless reserve of Godliness.

This abundant purity is all relevant at all times. There is not an answer that you cannot receive by dipping your hands

into the deep well of wisdom that spirituality provides.

Unfortunately, human intervention has mislead many to believe that we need to go through elaborate processes to get to simple truths. Truth is ever present and available in egalitarian ways. There are no privileged or greater.

There are just egoless receivers of knowledge. Our desire to establish a pattern of religious or spiritualistic procedures bars us from capturing the true essence of the gift.

Children are untainted by the negative minds and actions of their parents and live in a heightened state of awareness.

Abundantly they laugh, move and share, almost as if they are on a wire attached to heaven.

They mimic the unspoiled heart of happiness and well-being.

How then can you recapture what is inherently a gift you were born with? Begin by removing the burden you have placed upon yourself. Make “relax� your new mantra. As you learn to let go more and more, you can evoke in yourself the purity of thought and abundance of knowledge that guides us in a life of integrity.

What integrity really represents is wholeness. This place of growth permits you to focus in on yourself and

emerge from the cocoon of deception. Once you break through this veil of suffering, joy easily fills your soul and the language of peace blossoms.

Do not pursue spirit; become it! Allow life, do not force it.

Expect love; do not fabricate it.

Tell truth; do not calculate it.

Share openly; do not conceal it. Every higher aspiration will invite you to participate in the Godliness it provides.

In the multifarious social abnormality of modern society, this is the only way to authenticity. Each of us represents the perfection of God. I feel that all of us have the obligation to maximize our devotion.

ecently, when I took my surf ski down the river, I found a little island about 12 miles out. It was so picturesque, with a couple little palm trees on it. What better place to take a break and eat those mangoes I had in storage?

So, I took my life preserver and laid down on it for a while. I was totally entertained just getting into nature. Picture being on a little remote island with pelicans, herons and a myriad of other phenomenal birds.

Alongside those are thousands of butterflies and millions—and I mean millions—of baby crabs and little fish a-jumpin’ like crazy. There was a cool breeze and a warm sun with not a cloud in the sky to add to the ambience!

“Lovin’ life” would be a mild

expression.

But when I was rowing my boat back home, I met one of my other great friends who went boating with his wife and son for the afternoon. We stopped for a few cherished moments to reflect upon the simpler things in life. As I told him about my experience on the little island, we realized how fortunate we are that we can wrap ourselves in the beauty of nature for free!

I am a great believer in taking one-seventh of my time to appreciate life’s gifts and praise our creator’s indescribable handiwork by basking in it with complete awe. It’s easy to try to give back one-seventh of my time and one-tenth of my money to further the cause of making this a better world.

I spoke with a great friend and his wife at their home after a convention, and we broke out laughing when we realized we were being drowned out by the thunderous sounds of the frogs and whippoorwills doing their incredible chants. Isn’t it too bad that most folks don’t stop for a few moments to let the magnitude of the sounds, smells and sights of nature totally take the stress out of their lives? It’s like a perfect symphony. And again, it’s totally free!

Love it with a vengeance.

Life in abundance comes only through great love.

Without love, your life will echo with emptiness. With it, your life vibrates warmth and meaning. Even during times of hardship, love always shines Spirit in Action

through. There is no force more potent than love. Take away love and your earth is a tomb.

If you have it, you don't need to have anything else, and if you don’t have it, it doesn’t much matter what else you have.

As you look back upon the events in your life, you will find that those moments that stand out, moments when you have really lived, are when you have done things in a spirit of love. Therefore, search for love. Once you have learned to love, you'll have learned to live.

Love is the most important ingredient to your success. The best thing in life isn’t a thing.

REASONS TO DITCH DAIRY |

hile many people cite the health benefits of dairy-based yogurt, I do not include dairy products in my diet for a variety of reasons, most especially because I’m allergic to it. But even if you aren’t, there are plenty of other ethical and health-conscious reasons to nix dairy.

Baby cows have four stomachs to digest the proteins found in milk. We humans have one stomach that simply does not do the job of four.

COWS EAT UNHEALTHY FOOD.

The commercial feed cows eat contains ingredients that should not be part of the food supply, including animal byproducts, genetically modified soy, genetically modified corn, cottonseed, pesticides, antibiotics and even chicken manure.

These ingredients then find their way into the milk and dairy products in many stores.

DAIRY CONTAINS STRONG HORMONES.

Drinking milk or eating dairy products exposes us to the hormones routinely given to plump up cows and increase milk production. Our hormonal balance is delicate and easily thrown off by dairy products with stronger hormones than our own.

DAIRY IS MUCUS FORMING.

That means they contribute to ear and sinus infections.

Whenever one of my clients stops eating dairy products, they unfailingly experience tremendous improvements in their ear and sinus problems.

DAIRY PRODUCTS ARE PASTEURIZED.

While this process may be intended to destroy harmful, disease-causing bacteria, it also kills good bacteria and enzymes needed to ensure healthy gut health and digestion. Pasteurization further strains our digestive processes and leads to a growing number of people having trouble digesting dairy products.

DAIRY CAN CONTAIN PESTICIDES.

Health-harming pesticides find their way into dairy due to the high amounts used in growing cow feed. Some of these pesticides are linked to cancer or considered neurotoxins (toxic compounds that harm the brain and nervous system). They are best avoided as much as possible.

STUDIES HAVE LINKED DAIRY TO ARTHRITIS.

Some researchers even use dairy products in animals’ feed to produce joint inflammation consistent with arthritis.

DAIRY IS NOT A GOOD SOURCE OF CALCIUM.

I have heard people question this countless times over 25 years of practicing and writing about health issues. Dairy marketing boards have conditioned us to equate milk with calcium.

But the truth is, humans can’t easily digest that calcium, meaning it is not readily absorbed. Research shows that the countries whose citizens consume the highest amounts of dairy actually have the highest incidence of osteoporosis!

MILK IS HARD TO DIGEST.

Most milk is homogenized, which is a process that involves denaturing the proteins found in milk, making them even more difficult to digest. Many people have immune system reactions to these denatured proteins. I believe homogenization plays a role in the growing incidence of allergies and autoimmune conditions.

While the probiotics found in dairy yogurt can offer many health benefits, they don’t offset all the problems with dairy or its commercial production processes. Fortunately, there are many excellent plant-based yogurt options, including rice, oat, coconut and possibly others.

Mediterranean Zucchini Noodle Pasta with Pesto This recipe calls for a spiralizer, a great kitchen tool that creates noodles from your vegetables. Most spiralizers come with three settings for spaghetti, linguine and wide ribbon noodles that are well worth trying for yourself!

Notice what you focus on and what you ignore. The process of pre-framing and re-framing can help you learn how to change the meanings of life situations.

T

he power to change the way you view things gives you the ability to change your emotional state and health. Most of our emotional pain, anger, and fear are activated by perceptions created through unhealthy learned beliefs and attitudes.

When you’re in a state of emotional pain, anger and fear arise from unhealthy beliefs, and you’ll stay stuck in these dangerous emotions until you shift your focus or change your belief.

Use transformational vocabulary. If you eliminate

I’ve learned that childhood trauma survivors find it difficult to maintain a healthy relationship.

My wife has had some of these traumas and is currently battling breast cancer.

What can we do to overcome some of the common threats?

A

Trauma, whether it is physical, sexual or emotional, can wreak havoc in relationships. This is because many survivors believe, often unconsciously, that no one can be trusted and that intimacy is dangerous. Partners with unresolved trauma

often express themselves in intense emotional reactions, passionate disagreements, emotional distance, refusal to communicate or compromise, and failure to accept love in spite of repeated assurances.

Your wife deserves unconditional love in spite of

potential issues like depression, compulsive behaviors like an eating disorder, flashbacks, panic attacks, doubts about selfworth or even suicidal thoughts.

However, you must remember that you do not have the power to change another human being. Don’t give up, but don’t forget your own needs.

In addition to getting some professional help, find a good support system where both of you feel loved and respected.

Find support groups or similar activities, and spend time learning about trauma and its implications for a relationship.

Meanwhile, remind your wife that she is safe. Help her focus on the moment rather than on the past, and to reassure her of your unfailing love.

I’m concerned about my husband’s infidelity. I am a cancer survivor, but I feel that my marital problem is more disturbing than my cancer threat. What can I do?

A

If you are in a situation where you constantly question your husband’s trustworthiness, it is indeed a serious problem. Resolving this issue is imperative for your continued health.

First, know that cancer diagnosis and its treatment have seriously challenged many marriages. Some studies show that one in seven relationships breaks down after a cancer diagnosis. This is because such a diagnosis can cause distress, pain, fatigue, fears about future, uncertainty, sexual performance challenges and changes in the body and self-image of the survivors.

The relationship can easily break if you are not able to keep a closer relationship and a stronger commitment than before the cancer diagnosis.

Check if any of the above changes have led you to question the trustworthiness of the partner. Being aware that these challenges may

shake the foundation of a relationship—especially sexually—may help you to take the next step in dealing with it.

Love is a healer, but fear is a wrecker. Review the commitment to love between the two of you. If you feel that the relationship has deteriorated beyond that level, it is important to get professional help and find out if some of the damage to the relationship can be repaired.

Such awareness has helped many couples recommit to their love even more strongly.

hanks to recent hurricanes, two big trees in my yard toppled over.

Within days, their leaves, bark, and branches showed signs of decline.

Without their connection to the earth, trees get sick and die. The same is true for us people. Spiritual wellness means being connected to the source.

Things can look good on the surface—our appearance, our status, our relationships— but when we drift too far from our inner core, we get ill. Then all else erodes around us. To live out of integrity, out of touch, or out of reach inevitably adds up to a malaise that easily manifests as physical woe.

Healing our inner lives, or “spiritual healing,” is important because the body follows what is in the heart and mind. Why wait for the tree to collapse to discover the importance of being connected? Heed the warning signs before it’s too late.

At our core, we humans are peaceful, happy and artful—like a free-spirited child full of natural curiosity and joie de vivre, a French phrase meaning “joy of living.” As long as we remain aligned with our nature, everything about us shines from that inner light.

But when we disconnect from feelings, shroud ourselves in sophisticated “adult” pursuits, we easily get lost, make bad choices that serve our limited concepts of reality, and lose sight of the big picture.

Uprooted from the ground of our being, we forget our origins, ignore our mortality, and unwittingly find ourselves living an inauthentic life, making huge mistakes with our lifestyle or our morals or our pursuits.

The process of spiritual healing starts by telling the truth. There are three levels of truth: the facts, how I feel about the facts, and where I stand in relation to the facts.

Expressing the truth, especially at the feeling and relational levels, brings us closer to a reality aligned with wellness.

I’m convinced that being real lies central to healing and getting well. Being true to our nature means letting go of all the tensions, blocks and false mindsets that hinder the natural state. Telling the truth at the deepest levels means confessing, reconciling, expressing remorse and forgiving.

At Hippocrates, we see this sort of transformation in our guests over and over again as they heal their lives. And as “staff,” we know it in our own lives, too. As a spiritual community, we become intimately involved in each other’s healings as witnesses, helpers, sympathizers and friends. We create an atmosphere where authenticity is valued as the norm. People exhale at Hippocrates.

And then, of course, we inhale.

After the initial discomfort, being real at deep levels feels good—the kind of good that does a body good. It’s not milk; it’s love and authenticity.

to her boyfriends and family. With a little help from the mirroring of others, she came face to face with the inner emptiness of a life devoid of kindness and charity. “I’m ugly!” she wailed in one therapy session. And then her healing began in earnest.

Let’s talk about prayer for a moment. Years ago, I lived in a rural spiritual community in South Georgia. We tried to live biblical values.

We shared our cars and lawn mowers. We

helped our neighbors. We ate meals together.

One evening, a wandering Christian minstrel family stopped by in their converted Greyhound bus to do a show for us. As they played their guitars and electric piano and sang of faith and prayer, the leader with the microphone shouted out, “Is there anyone here in need of healing? ” The music was a crescendo as he made his plea, but nobody spoke up. Being the wise-guy I am, and wanting to ridicule these troubadours’ provincial simplicity, I stood up and said, “I do.”

They all focused on me, eager to heighten the fervor. I, of course, just hoped to catch them in my net of judgment and sarcasm. “I have a wart right here on my finger,” I proclaimed theatrically, holding up my digit for all to see.

But instead of feeling like fools, they didn’t skip a beat and barraged me with “Thank you, Jesus. Heal this man’s ailment.

Thank you, Jesus!” It was over the top. I was embarrassed. For myself. For them.

Later, after the show, I reflected that even though their presentation seemed hokey to me, I couldn’t deny their sincerity. I felt bad about my arrogance and sarcastic tone. I went to bed feeling like an idiot.

The next morning, I woke up to find no wart. That’s right—it was gone. I believe in the power of prayer and loving intent. It’s way bigger than our ideas.

Andy’s ego: zero. Andy’s humility: one.

Spiritual healing means waking up to the big picture and being gracious about it. Lord knows we could beat ourselves up forever for all the mistakes we’ve made and pain we’ve caused. Maybe on some level, our unconsciousness deserves that. But isn’t it more refreshing to see Scrooge transformed, rather than punished for his greed?

I say ignorance is its own punishment. I say we’ve already done our time. Let’s free this bird that was made to fly, and help each other fly free, too. Let’s unleash our hearts to do what they were meant to do: focus on life without distractions or the blinders of ego, and manifest, through simple gestures in everyday life, our deepest intent to help and to heal ourselves and the world. Let’s get on with the innate kindness of life and evoke bountiful health because it’s our birthright.

Spiritual healing isn’t reserved for the saints. It isn’t like asking for special favors, but like accepting an inheritance from loving parents. It means saying yes to nature, and yes to ourselves as part of nature. It means looking life in the eye and expressing “please and thank you” from the deepest regions of the heart. It means reconnecting our roots to the source within and finally, finally receiving the goods.

No more I Negativity

f you’re struggling with a chronic illness, you may find yourself at times asking, “What did I do to deserve this? What am I doing wrong? Why am I not getting better?”

As someone who has struggled with Lyme disease for 20 years now, I can tell you that these questions are understandable. The uncertainty and daily discomfort of living with an illness that constantly limits you is incredibly frustrating.

When these sentiments arise, the trick is to allow them and process them, but not to get stuck in them. They can lead you into a spiral of despair and guilt and stress you don’t need.

Here are four simple ways to reduce your negative thoughts.

Laughter releases dopamine

The truth is, it is not your fault.

Illness is rarely something you can fix overnight. You’re already eating healthy and trying your hardest to get well.

So give yourself credit and be your own most enthusiastic cheerleader.

This includes your closest friends and family. It is impossible for them to know what it’s like to feel unwell for a long period of time. And mainstream medicine’s denial of our country’s most epidemic chronic illnesses leads to a culture of patient-blaming: if they can’t explain it and cure it, it must be “in your head.”

Find a support group where you will be validated and encouraged by people who have been where you are. Validation and solidarity are powerful factors in recovery.

After spending most of my life feeling sorry for myself, I finally got up enough courage to say, “this must be here for a reason.

I’m going to treat it as a teacher and see what I can gain from it.” That’s when my healing took a true quantum leap.

Approaching health challenges from an open, spacious place of non-judgmental curiosity tells the universe, “I’m ready to learn this lesson and move on.” Everything that happens to us is to help us evolve, and illnesses contain valuable jewels for us on our path.

When researchers first discovered nitric oxide three decades ago, they had no idea how important their discovery would be. Since then, there have been tens of thousands of studies and articles about nitric oxide’s role in the body.

Nitric oxide is a gas produced in the vessel walls that relaxes, reduces inflammation and regulates carbon dioxide in the cell, which helps the body remove waste and toxins more effectively. ll life is based on electromagnetic energy. All cells vibrate and respond to certain frequencies. But most natural frequencies, the ones with strong therapeutic effects, are low frequencies, such as the 1 to 30 Hertz range of the brain.
