What a time to be in the cattle business. For the past two and a half years—and counting—revenue has greatly outpaced expenses, and it looks like we may have at least a few more good years ahead of us. We all know the old saying, “What goes up must come down,” but I truly believe we are entering a new era in the cattle business. History will eventually tell the story of when and how the dynamics of the beef industry changed, but I believe we are living through that change right now. Here at Big D, we are rich in generations of cattlemen who have passed down the knowledge of how to survive the trials and tribulations all the while making the most of the more rewarding days..Work ethic, faith, and persistence have always been the foundation of this operation. This year marks the 250th birthday of the United States, and that milestone has caused me to think a little more about how blessed we are to live in this great country—and about the people who made it possible for my family to be where we are today. In today’s world, nearly everything is in the palm of our hand. We can research almost anything in seconds and talk to someone halfway around the world like they are sitting across the table. That makes me think about my great-great-grandfather and the courage it must have taken to sit down after church at Sunday lunch—the same way our family still does today—and tell everyone he had a plan. Load up the family. Leave their beloved Italy. Cross an ocean. Start over in a new country and chase the promise of a better life. We owe our ancestors tremendous gratitude. Their unwavering faith, hard work, courage, and determination laid the groundwork for what would eventually become Big D Ranch. Those same qualities live on today through Dad, Beth, Ben, Izzy, and myself. Every day, we carry a burning determination to make sure the tremendous risk our ancestors took does not go unrewarded. Our responsibility is to improve what was passed down to us and pass it to the next generation, so they can do the same. I recently read some statistics that really stopped me in my tracks. Only a fraction of family farms survive from one generation to the next, and only 1% make it all the way to the sixth generation. That number means a little more around here because Ben and Izzy are the sixth generation. To know that Ben and Izzy represent the new era is both humbling and incredibly satisfying. More importantly, they aren’t simply names on a family tree. They are already developing the same passion for the cattle, the land, and this way of life that their forefathers before them carried. Seeing them excited about what Big D can become makes all the sacrifices worthwhile. So when you think of Big D, I hope you don’t only think about the cattle we produce. I hope you think about six generations of determination—each generation trying to do a little better than the one before it. That persistence has allowed us to remain successful and thriving on this land and in this business, while raising another generation that can’t wait for its opportunity to take the reins and push Big D to an entirely new level. I have a feeling my great-great-grandparents are smiling down on us today. Now, I realize I’ve used most of my writing space giving you a history lesson instead of telling you about the cattle. And I hate to sound like every sale catalog you’ve ever opened by saying, “This year’s offering is better than ever.” BUT… this year’s offering isn’t just better than last year’s. It is the best set we have ever produced. We have so many legitimate herd sire prospects that picking the bull worthy of wearing Lot #1 has been unbelievably difficult. That is a good problem to have. We are also excited to introduce our new D-2 Bull Program, something that has been in the making for the past couple of years. The D-2 program gives us another avenue to put powerful, performance-driven genetics into the hands of commercial cattlemen—the very reason we develop bulls here at Big D. Our registered female offering is a little smaller this year, but don’t mistake quantity for quality. It is stacked with foundation females possessing the genetics and production potential to help serious breeders move their programs forward. Most importantly, we hope you’ll make plans to join us. Come Friday night and enjoy our homemade Italian sit-down spaghetti and sausage supper, a tradition that has quickly become a crowd favorite. Then spend plenty of time going through the sale cattle, visiting with friends and fellow cattlemen, and trying to answer the same question we’ve had such a hard time answering ourselves: Which one deserves to be your Lot #1? From our entire family, thank you for your friendship, your business, and your confidence in the Big D program. We never take any of it for granted. We look forward to seeing you at the ranch.

Iceman has been one of the most talked about bull ever here at Big D Ranch. This Five Star son goes back to a mating we loved when we put Business Line 30D26 back on a maternal sister to our Moto Moto bull. His EPD profile indicated plenty of performance at weaning and yearling, big REA and his index value truly represent his breeding versatility. He sets down a big correct foot, he is super soggy and extra flexible when in motion. When he goes away, you really appreciate how stout he is when you see his top side dimension and genuine base width. Truly one of the best ever to ever come to the pen around here. Apache is easily one of the most unique breeding pieces to sell this fall. His dam, a red Tanque daughter who’s quickly gaining attention from Red Brangus enthusiast has done something special here. Her sire is a bull we acquired from Mid-South Cattle Company when we were looking for a bull to bring some moderation of frame to our program, and he has worked fantastic everywhere we have plugged him in. Apache is a rare Black Red gene carrier without the wild gene, meaning he is poised to change everything for the Red Brangus breed. Much like his sire, he’s rugged, deep and masculine while maintaining a stylish design. Red Breeders, plan your trip to Arkansas now this is something you all need to see! Selling Full Possession and 50% Semen Interest, selling is retaining 50% semen interest.

A direct son of the $19,000 BDR Miss American 303L donor, this is another black red gene carrier but this time the red gene is wild. This Great Lake son is extra stylish, as he’s smooth and deep with an attractive hind leg set. On paper he scanned over 14 inches of REA, ranks in the top 10% for YW and top 25% for REA. Once again backed by the 303-cow family that has proven to be one of the most consistent around here.

We’ve sampled some GACC Data Bank 102H3 and we really like the results. Leading off an impressive set of yearlings is quite a feat in this offering. His dam, a Five Star daughter has name brand kind of pedigree with several household names in her pedigree. He is loaded with genetic potential as he ranks in the top 5% for WW and YW then post a top 15% REA EPD making his terminal index impressive to say the very least.

The D-2 Program has been in the making for a couple of years. At Big D, we have a tremendous set of registered Brangus and Ultrablack females that, for EPD reasons alone, may not quite measure up to the standards of our registered breeding program. Many of these females have traditionally been utilized as recipients to carry embryo transfer calves. Over time, however, we realized we were not taking full advantage of the natural-service genetics available within this group of cows. Our natural-service herd sires have always represented some of the very top herd-sire prospects we develop, along with carefully selected outside genetics purchased specifically to strengthen our herd bull battery. We began asking ourselves why we weren’t utilizing those genetics to their fullest potential. Conversations with our commercial customers helped provide the answer. Again and again, we heard that actual performance is equally, if not more, important in their bull selection process. Commercial cattlemen need bulls that go to work—bulls backed by genetics, but also measured by the performance and productivity that ultimately affect their bottom line. Going forward, the D-2 Program will be centered around genetics and performance, measured from every angle. These cattle will be developed with the same focus on functionality, performance, and genetic value that we expect from bulls carrying the Big D name. The D-2 Program is not intended to replace our registered offering—hence the name D-2. Instead, it gives us another avenue to utilize valuable genetics and supply hardworking, performance-driven bulls to commercial cattlemen. After all, developing bulls that work for commercial cattlemen is the reason we develop bulls here at Big D. BIG D RANCH’S CATTLEMEN’S CHOICE

SON OF 313F SIRED BY TESTAMENT MSC 313N12
As a direct daughter of the $120,000 RBM Ms Special Forces 313A, she would be a maternal sister to herd sires like the $210,000 All in of Ace 313L and the $150,000 Sho Time. Back in 2023, 313F was one of the featured females in the Genetic Edge sale where she commanded $39,000. In the inaugural GKB Production Sale, her Frontline daughter was the headline female and sold for $100,000. There is no doubt this female will continue to leave her mark on the breed as she goes into production here at Big D Ranch. Here is a great chance to get in on a proven female with this aspiration opportunity. Selling the right to one IVF aspiration guaranteeing a minimum of 8 transferable embryos with a cap of 12. Any embryos produced in excess of 12 will be the possession of the seller and the seller will pay any cost associated with freezing, transferring, and/or storing those excess embryos. Buyer is responsible for all flush cost. BIG D RANCH’S CATTLEMEN’S CHOICE

This was one of the high end Red females that sold at public auction last year! As a CEO daughter, she offers instant credibility to her pedigree. As the 303-cow family grows at Big D Ranch, you’ll see more females like this pass through the ring here. This female commanded $19,000 through the ring last year and the buyer are ready to offer a flush on this great female. Her full brother commanded $22,000 back in 2024, so this pedigree is no stranger to revenue generation. She’s big numbered and offers plenty of mating options. Selling the right to one IVF aspiration guaranteeing a minimum of 8 transferable embryos with a cap of 12. Any embryos produced in excess of 12 will be the possession of the seller and the seller will pay any cost associated with freezing, transferring, and/or storing those excess embryos. Here at Big D one area of the cattle industry where we have always felt we fell a little short was having a presence in the show ring. This female represents the beginning of our effort to change that. With Ben leading this endeavor and drawing on the experience he gained while attending West Texas A&M, we decided to incorporate Simmental genetics into our program. Their maternal qualities, added look and show-ring presence—along with the bonus of some color—made them a natural fit for what we wanted to accomplish. Ben selected one of the most intriguing UR females on the ranch, BDR MS BRAVE 303L5, and matched her with W/C BET ON RED 481H, one of the most talked-about red Simmental bulls in the country. The result of that mating is this exciting young female. She has spent the summer being shown across Arkansas and comes to you experienced, proven, and ready to go to work for her new owners—both in the show ring and beyond. And rest assured, this is not a one-time deal. We have several different matings developing in recips now with more calves already hitting the ground. This young lady may represent the beginning, but the vision is much bigger. BIG D RANCH’S CATTLEMEN’S CHOICE

EPDs
REGISTRATION NUMBER: Bulls noted with “R” number are Registered Brangus. Those noted with a “UB” number are Ultra-Blacks, indicating they are a Brangus-Angus blend. Those noted as UB2 are second cross Ultrablacks. “AX” recorded bulls are appendix registered purebred Brangus that have non-typical Brangus color pattern. POLLED/SCURRED/HORNED: Denotes bulls that are either smooth polled or have the presence of scurs or slick spots. Those bulls noted as “scurs” typically have had scurs removed post-weaning. Horned bulls have presence or horns. GENETIC CONDITIONS (GC): Indicates genetic condition status with “Free” indicating tested free or pedigree free of currently known genetic conditions. Prefixes noted with a “C” indicate that given animal carries a non-lethal recessive gene for that given condition. INDIVIDUAL MEASURES BIRTH WEIGHT (ACT. BW): Actual weight at birth, expressed in pounds. SCROTAL CIRCUMFERENCE (ADJ. SC): Testicular circumference, measured in centimeters, and adjusted to 365 days of age. EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCE GENOMIC ENHANCED EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCE (GE-EPD): The genetic predictor of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the breed database. These EPDs through DNA technology are genomically enhanced for more reliability and higher accuracy levels. PERCENTILE RANKS: Ranks each given GE-EPD trait against the breed population for non-parent animals, active sires or active dams and expressed as a percentage ranking in that population. As an example, 1% is higher than 50%. GE-EPD ACCURACY: Since all bulls selling in this catalog are non-parent, their accuracies are the lowest calculated by our national sire evaluation program. HEIFER PREGNANCY (H PREG): Predicts the probability that a female will have a calf as a two-year-old. Expressed as a % with the higher number more desirable. STAYABILITY (STAY): Measures the probability that a cow will still be in the herd at six years of age. With the higher number being more desirable. TERMINAL INDEX (TERM): Evaluates a sire for use on mature cows with all offspring put on feed and sold in a terminal end point scenario. The higher the number, the more desirable. FERTILITY INDEX (FERT): Developed for cattle raised in a general-purpose production system to produce reproductively sound replacement females or bulls that will sire reproductively sound replacement females. CALVING EASE DIRECT (CED): Expressed as a percentage and indicates the influence of the animal on calving ease in females calving at 2 years of age. The higher the number the more desirable for calving ease. WEANING WEIGHT EPD (WW): Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s ability to transmit weaning growth to its progeny. YEARLING WEIGHT EPD (YW): Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s ability to transmit yearling growth to its progeny. MILK EPD (MILK): Predicts a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk. TOTAL MATERNAL EPD (TM): Expressed in pounds, a genetic predictor of weaning weight by blending a combination of maternal milk and weaning weight value. SCROTAL CIRCUMFERENCE EPD (SC): Measured in centimeters at a yearling time, predicts testicular size. RIBEYE AREA (REA): Expressed in square inches, is a predictor of transmitting ability of ribeye size and overall muscle mass which is a key component in USDA yield grades. INTRAMUSCULAR FAT (IMF): Expressed as a percentage, is a predictor of transmitting ability for marbling or intra-muscular fat correlating to USDA quality grade at harvest time. GE-EPD VALUES & PARENT VERIFICATION ( PV • SV • DV • ) By sale time we will have a complete set of GE-EPD values for every bull and it will be noted on a supplement sheet. Nearly every bull has current GE-EPD values and more than 90% of the females have current GE-EPD values. Every animal in the sale will be sire verified and if something is missing this will also be noted on sale day supplement sheets. MULTIPLE SIRES IN OUR BREEDING HERD Most of our females have been naturally exposed with two natural service sires. We continue to determine the viability of profitability of running multiple sires during breeding season and then DNA calves for sire determination. Interesting and continuing project to determine which particular sire in a given group has the desire and ability to rule his pasture. The resulting natural service sired calves from these sale females will have to have DNA samples sent to labs for sire verification. OCTOBER 24, 2026 - 1 P.M.
