Provenance: Designed by Dick Wiken and carved by Adolph Roegner, the limestone frieze was designed to adorn the women’s entrance of the Milwaukee Athletic Club as part of its renovation in 1954. Among other projects, the Chicago Park District enlisted Wiken to design six bronze relief panels for the Chicago Park District Administration Building at the north end of Soldier Field in 1939; Ernest Byfield (1890-1950), the prominent Chicago hotelier and restaurateur, later commissioned Wiken to create portrait busts for the Pump Room at the Ambassador East Hotel in 1947. $2,000-$4,000
