The Lost Jenny 79 Collection
Leslie Hindman Auctioneers is proud to offer the 1918 24-cent Inverted Jenny position 79 to the public for the first time since the sheet was broken up nearly 100 years ago. While the reappearance of the lost position 79 Jenny is reason enough for excitement, this Jenny will not be making a solo flight.
The collection offered in this catalogue features stamps procured from some of the largest names in 20th century philately. American Philatelic Hall of Fame Members Warren Colson (1951) and Nicolas Sanabria (1945) helped in the assembly of this remarkable collection of rarities and important airmail stamps from around the world. Not only is the Jenny being brought to the public for the first time, but a previously unrecorded block of four 4-cent Pan-American Expo invert will also be offered. The Buffalo Balloon Types I & Type II Tête-Bêche pair reaches back to the earliest moments of air mail history. The Australian “RossSmith” stamp and a Bolivian 12-stamp inverted plate block firmly establish the collection as one of the great American and International airmail collections to have been offered at auction.
