EDO PERIOD (1603-1868) comprising a red lacquered iron semi-spherical helmet bowl (kabuto) deocrated with rounded studs, the gilt fore-crest of a gilt metal badge chased with two overlapping leaves, surrounded by numerous chrysanthemum heads, flanked by a pair of black lacquered iron stylized horns, having three-tiered neck guard of red lacquered iron plates; a red lacquered iron whole face mask, (menpo) with the upper section having white bristly moustache, fourtiered iron plate throad guard connected by blue and white braid with red cross knotting; a two-piece cuirass (do) with multiple circles of red lacquered iron scales (hon-kozane) laced with blue braid, the upper part clad with lacquered leather, centered with a badge enclosing two overlapping gilt leaves, with gilt metal pieces carved with chrysanthemums and foliate decoration; two sleeves (kote) of red lacquered iron rectangulars on the upper arms, the lower arms with hinged plates following the profile of the arms; two shoulder guards (sode) of seven rectangular red lacquered iron plates also laced with blue braid decorated with gilt metal plaques chased with chrysanthemums and foliate decoration; two thigh guards (haidate) of red lacquered iron rectangulars closely laced with blue braid sewn onto gold silk brocade decorated with leaves and dyed leather bands; together with a black lacquered wood box.
