That was the Ebony Fashion Fair Show. Started in 1958, the traveling fashion extravaganza showcased African American models strutting the runway in top designer ensembles from the world’s fashion capitols of Paris, London, Milan, Rome and New York.

Under the discerning vision of Producer-Director, Eunice W. Johnson, Ebony Fashion Fair brought high fashion designers su c h a s Yves S aint Laurent, P ierre Cardin, Valent ino, Stephen Burrows, Patrick Kelly and Vivienne Westwood to a predominately African American audience across the US, Canada and the Caribbean.

Over the course of its run, Ebony Fashion Fair blossomed into an American institution that raised over $55 million for charity.
