My curiosity for design and buildings led me to architecture. Further and beyond, I’m passionate about exploring allied design fields. I personally value the creative process as much as the final product. I also find joy in breaking down designs into meaningful layers which elevate the whole composition.

museum design The proposed museum project at the hebbal lake site in Bangalore encompasses an area of 12168 square meters. The primary objective is to create a experience enriching space that seamlessly moves humans through its volumes. Key considerations include interactive exhibition spaces with distinct break points in between, scenic viewpoints, and landscaping to ensure a harmonious coexistence with the lakeside environment.

movement concept
The design revolves around the interplay of “contraction and expansion” which defines the lines and spaces as guiding elements to the flow of visitors through the museum, creating a deliberate yet engaging journey. By distorting space and volume, main exhibition areas & transitional spaces are distinguished. The building is divided into multiple blocks, each aligned with specific functions with connecting bridges acting as breathing spaces in between for exploration and contemplation. The linear form fosters an experience of multiple viewpoints while ensuring a seamless flow.

Structurally, load-bearing walls create a consistent pattern of spaces throughout all levels, with a metal sheet on top as a roof element bent at multiple angles to align with concept of varying volumes. The central display blocks appear to float on water, adding an intriguing visual element. The warm palette used throughout the design evokes a sense of nostalgia, while the overall form maintains a contemporary feel, symbolizing a bridge between the past and the future. Thus, this concept aligns with the core of museums, preserving and showcasing history for generations to come.

memorial design The competition aims at creating a memorial for Charles Correa. With a context consisting of Kala Academy in Goa, which in Correa’s words “has given back to the people the land it is built on” near the Mandovi river, the proposed site bounds an area of 17000 square feet. Possessing a delicate grove of trees within it, it also flanks a lighthouse nearby. A rule has been set to not remove any trees. The design must stand testimony to Correa’s philosophy.

Charles Correa A renowned Indian architect known for his pioneering work in blending modern architecture with traditional Indian design principles, his architectural vision was marked by his respect for context, culture, & sustainability. Correa’s designs often incorporated open spaces & courtyards. A visionary, he was a master of light and shade. Through his interviews and interactions, it becomes evident that he possesses a vibrant attitude combined with profound knowledge, all while maintaining a childlike enthusiasm & curiosity. He has the remarkable ability to captivate anyone’s attention and genuinely appreciates the works of others. The objective of the memorial was to highlight these endearing qualities.

House at Koramangala A personal architectural endeavor by the architect, the house draws inspiration from traditional houses that revolve around a central courtyard with a tree at its heart. Correa’s residence is also an intimate reflection of his design philosophies. Therefore, it is fitting that this very house can been chosen as the muse for his memorial, as it encapsulates the essence of his architectural philosophy while also remaining a profoundly personal and cherished space in his life.

the journey Water, simultaneously exuding cheerfulness and tranquility, mirrors his vibrant yet rooted character. The water’s journey, flowing from the ‘birth pond’ to the ‘kund’, symbolizes the path of his life. The empty space from which the frangipani tree emerges at the kund represents the void left behind following his passing, with the tree signifying his enduring presence even in death.

urban intervention Preceding with a comprehensive urban study analysis as a group effort by a class of students, we delved into the intricate fabric of the Silk Board Junction and examined various aspects. Building upon the insights gathered, we then aimed to propose architectural interventions which were designed not only to address the identified challenges but also to enhance the quality of life for users, and contribute to the overall urban revitalization.
17
the problems
The junction abuts one of the most connected highways of the country, the NH44. Bus passengers at this junction face several challenges. While BMTC services (intercity) have a temporary bus stand, the available shelters are not fully utilised. On the other hand, those using private interstate buses, often traveling to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, encounter a lack of infrastructure and basic amenities, making long journeys increasingly inconvenient.
SILK BOARD JUNCTION, BENGALURU
18
the intervention
To combat the aforementioned challenges, an architectural intervention in the form of a transit hub is being proposed. This hub aims to cater to the diverse needs of both BMTC and interstate bus service passengers. In addition, the hub will provide functional spaces for the staff and administration of these services, streamlining operations. Situated at one of the city’s primary junctions, it will also allocate a small area for the general public, making the most of its location.

interior design The interior design project for the hotel lobby, situated within a site measuring 24M X 32M presents an opportunity to craft a welcoming atmosphere. The predefined column layout establishes the structural framework for the space, guiding the design approach. Design prioritizes efficient space utilization, harmonious color palettes, premium materials, & innovative lighting solutions to create an inviting and functional environment.

LIGHTING An important detail about the lighting, are always bold and creative. The lighting tends to be hanging lights with an artistic purpose.
COLORPALETTE The colors mustard yellow and tangerine orange are seen as the main accent colors
ART Big, bold and expensive statement canvases that are intended to be the focus of the room. FURNITURE Wood is the go-to material for furniture to this style. The furniture doesn’t match exactly with each other. The furniture must include bold fabrics with graphic patterns & clean lines

heritage documentation The project involves the documentation of the temple town of Melkote, and focuses on a comprehensive survey of a large residence within the town. This initiative involved capturing the entire architectural plan to intricate details of the residence. Through this endeavor, we aimed to not only study the historcal significance but also understand the town’s architectural legacy.
