OTTERPRO DTF SYSTEMS: A SCALABLE ROUTE TO NEW REVENUE OPPORTUNITIES
As demand for personalised apparel, branded merchandise and short-run production continues to rise, Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing has become one of the most accessible and versatile decoration technologies available to today’s print businesses.
Whether producing customised workwear, promotional clothing, sportswear or one-off retail garments, DTF allows companies to create vibrant, durable transfers that can be applied to a wide variety of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, blends and performance textiles. The technology’s flexibility has made it increasingly attractive to businesses looking to diversify their offering, improve turnaround times and unlock new revenue streams.
Among the latest systems helping companies capitalise on this growing market is the OtterPro range of DTF solutions, designed to support businesses from entry-level production through to higher-volume manufacturing environments.
Building a DTF Business
One of the reasons DTF has gained such widespread adoption is its relatively low
The compact M30 provides an accessible entry point into DTF printing, making it suitable for start-ups, retailers and smaller production environments.
barrier to entry compared with traditional garment decoration methods. Unlike screen printing, there are no screens to create and store, while setup costs remain economical even for small production runs or individual garments.
For businesses entering the market, the OtterPro M30 offers a practical introduction to DTF production. Designed as a compact desktop solution, the system combines professional-level functionality with a footprint suited to smaller workshops, retail environments and start-up operations.
Features such as white ink circulation, automated maintenance functions, integrated heating and RIP software help users maintain consistent output while reducing the day-to-day maintenance often associated with textile printing. Supporting both A3 and A4 film formats, the M30 provides the flexibility required for a wide range of applications, from personalised garments and workwear to promotional merchandise and gift products.
For companies exploring DTF for the first time, systems such as the M30 provide an opportunity to establish a profitable new service without the significant investment often associated with larger industrial equipment.
Scaling Up Production
As demand grows, many businesses reach a point where increased automation and higher output become essential. This is where the OtterPro S40 enters the picture.
The S40 has been developed for businesses seeking greater production capacity and workflow efficiency. Equipped with dual Epson i1600 printheads and capable of printing widths up to 420mm, the system is designed to support higher-volume transfer production while maintaining colour consistency and image quality.

BESPOKE TROPHY DESIGN
Looking to Impress?
EFX designs and manufactures distinctive, bespoke awards, trophies, plaques and medals at our UK manufacturing facility near Stratford-upon-Avon.
Starting out in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter of the 1970’s, we provide innovative design and top quality, backed-up by our reassuringly dedicated customer service team.
Choose from a wide range of materials, including plated aluminium, acrylics, glass & crystal, bronze, resin and sustainable wood and recycled plastics.
• Free design service from our in-house studio
• Unique and innovative designs to impress your clients
• Attractive prices to suit your budget
• Impressive turnaround
• Guaranteed confidentiality
A key advantage of the S40 is its flexibility. It can be supplied either as a standalone printer or as a fully integrated all-in-one DTF production system.
In its standalone configuration, the S40 functions as the print engine within a wider DTF workflow. Businesses would then require additional equipment for powder application and curing before transfers can be applied to garments using a heat press.
The fully integrated version takes a different approach, combining printing, powder application, powder shaking, drying, film winding and air purification into a single automated production unit. By bringing multiple stages of the DTF process together, the system reduces manual handling, streamlines workflow and enables operators to focus on fulfilment and customer service rather than managing individual production stages.
Additional features such as automatic white ink circulation, low-ink monitoring, adjustable vacuum platforms and integrated drying technology help maintain production consistency during extended runs, making the S40 particularly attractive to growing garment decorators, promotional merchandise suppliers and print service providers.
Understanding the Complete DTF Workflow
For businesses considering an investment in DTF technology, understanding the complete production process is essential.
The printer creates the image onto a specialist transfer film using CMYK and white inks. The printed design is then coated with adhesive powder, which must be cured before the transfer can be applied. Finally, a heat press is used to transfer the design onto the finished garment or product.
While integrated systems automate much of this process, every DTF workflow ultimately requires both transfer production and heat application equipment. Businesses evaluating their options should therefore consider not only the printer itself, but also how the wider workflow will fit into their production environment and growth plans.
OtterPro S40 All-in-One DTF System
Combining printing, powder application, curing and film winding in a single automated workflow, the S40 is designed for businesses seeking higher-volume DTF production.
Creating New Revenue Streams
Perhaps the greatest appeal of DTF technology is the breadth of opportunities it creates.
Screen printers can economically fulfil short-run orders that may not justify traditional setup costs. Embroidery businesses can expand their offering with full-colour graphics and photographicquality decoration. Promotional merchandise suppliers can move into branded apparel, while sign makers and print providers can add textile decoration services for existing customers.
The technology also enables businesses to respond quickly to market trends, produce on-demand products and accommodate increasingly personalised customer requirements without compromising profitability.
Applications extend across corporate workwear, event merchandise, sports apparel, fashion retail, personalised gifts, bags, aprons, accessories and promotional products, providing multiple avenues for business growth.
Investing for the Future
As customisation continues to shape the future of print and promotional products, DTF has established itself as a technology capable of supporting both established decorators and businesses entering the market for the first time.
The OtterPro portfolio demonstrates how scalable solutions can support that journey. From compact entry-level systems such as the M30 through to the higher-capacity S40 and fully integrated production workflows, the range provides options for businesses at different stages of development.
For companies seeking to diversify services, improve efficiency or increase production capacity, DTF technology represents more than just another decoration method. It offers a practical route to new revenue opportunities, greater production flexibility and longterm business growth in an increasingly personalised marketplace.

MIMAKI JFX200 DRIVES BESPOKE PRINT GROWTH AT TWR ACRYLIC
Founded on a moment of last-minute ingenuity, The Wee Rhubarb Gift Co Ltd has grown from a Scottish spare room into a thriving, multi-faceted business supplying crafters, small businesses and event professionals across the UK. Now, just a year after launching, the company has expanded again with the introduction of TWR Acrylic –a specialist premium acrylic sheet supplier created after identifying a clear gap in the UK market. Investment in the latest Mimaki print hardware is enabling the business to add new products and services to an already impressive offering.
Founded on a moment of last-minute ingenuity, The Wee Rhubarb Gift Co Ltd has grown from a Scottish spare room into a thriving, multi-faceted business supplying crafters, small businesses and event professionals across the UK. Now, just a year after launching, the company has expanded again with the introduction of TWR Acrylic – a specialist premium acrylic sheet supplier created after identifying a clear gap in the UK market. Investment in the latest Mimaki print hardware is enabling the business to add new products and services to an already impressive offering.
“We started the business almost by chance,” recalls director Claire Sutherland. “My daughter (and fellow director) Loren was getting married and less than 48 hours before the big day, the signage person let us down – they had the wrong date for the wedding! We redesigned everything and had it printed locally. The feedback was
incredible and we thought, ‘actually, we’re quite good at this’”. At the time, Claire was working in a corporate role, but the experience sparked a complete career change. “I was ready for something different, so we took the plunge. We invested in a range of personalisation equipment and set up in my spare room.”
Now one year on, The Wee Rhubarb has expanded significantly. Operating from a workshop in Glasgow alongside a dedicated print setup in Dunfermline, the business supports a broad customer base through personalised products, print services and wholesale materials.
Earlier this year, the company launched TWR Acrylic after spotting a gap in the UK market for premium acrylic sheets in modern colour palettes and finishes that
had become increasingly popular in the American crafting and signage industries.
“We could see incredible acrylic ranges being used by makers and small businesses in the US, but there was very little available in the UK that matched the same premium look and feel,” Claire explains. “We realised there was a real opportunity to bring those styles and colour palettes to the UK market making them accessible for crafters and small businesses.”
Today, TWR Acrylic’s core offering centres on high-quality wholesale premium acrylic sheets tailored for crafters and small businesses who lack the tools or space to process larger materials themselves.
“We supply a wide range of premium acrylics at accessible prices,” Claire expands. “Our customers rely on us not

just for materials, but for choice, consistency and service. That’s something we’ve taken seriously from the outset.” Alongside this, the company’s Print Studio arm now delivers bespoke printed graphics, particularly for the events sector, but with an increasing customer base across other industries. “Event companies frequently have fantastic designers, but they’re often not printers. Having someone reliable who understands their needs can make all the difference,” Claire explains.
With demand for custom print work increasing across both The Wee Rhubarb and TWR Acrylic, the team began exploring ways to bring more production in-house. Claire and Loren’s research spanned multiple technologies, including solvent and UV, but an earlier investment in a lower-cost UV DTF solution proved challenging. “We struggled with support,” says Claire. “We didn’t want to be stuck relying on web chats to another country when something went wrong. For us, having proper UK-based technical backup became essential.”
That requirement played a key role in their
decision to invest in the Mimaki JFX2001213EX flatbed UV printer, purchased through authorised reseller Xpres following one of the company’s local events earlier this year. Having already seen the capabilities of the larger JFX200 model through a US-based contact, the team had high expectations. “The print quality from the Mimaki was incredible. There was just no comparison,” Claire recalls. “When we saw it up close and understood what it could do, it really stood out.”
Of equal importance, the mid-size format of the JFX200-1213EX offered the flexibility they needed without limiting future growth. “We considered a smaller machine, but I knew we’d outgrow it quickly,” Claire explains. “The JFX200 gives us a longer-term solution with a larger bed size and faster production speeds. It just opens us up to so much more.”
TWR Acrylic is already seeing steady growth in its print offering, with the ability to produce one-off jobs and bespoke personalised items proving particularly valuable. Ranging from highly detailed
event displays to retail signage, the new printer is enabling the company to expand its creative offering while supporting the wider growth of The Wee Rhubarb brand.
A recent project highlights this perfectly: a wedding table plan featuring handdrawn caricatures of each guest.
“This is exactly the kind of work we love doing,” says Claire. “It’s unique, personal, and shows what’s possible with the right technology behind you.”
Looking ahead, Claire and Loren remain focused on growth and plan to launch their bespoke printed acrylic range in the next few months under the ‘Boundless by TWR’ brand.
“Great customer service is in our DNA,” Claire concludes. “We listen to our customers and are committed to staying true to the principles that shaped the business from the start. We want to offer a fantastic product, backed by the kind of support we expect ourselves. The new Mimaki printer has given us the confidence to take that even further.”

LINTEC EUROPE ENHANCES PREMIUM FILM SAMPLING WITH MIMAKI UCJV330 INVESTMENT
Standout Mimaki White Ink
Leading manufacturer of premium self-adhesive films for architectural window graphics, Lintec Europe, has strengthened its UK demonstration and technical support capability with the installation of a Mimaki UCJV330-160 UV printer cutter at its High Wycombe headquarters.
Part of the global Lintec Group, Lintec Europe supplies specialist window films used across commercial interiors, retail environments and corporate spaces. With a strong focus on innovation and performance, the business works closely with designers, specifiers and installers,
making high-quality printed samples a vital part of how its products are evaluated and specified. Manufactured in a defect-free cleanroom environment, Lintec’s films are engineered to meet the exacting standards of architectural projects, where finish and consistency are critical.
Lintec Europe made the decision to replace its existing system through the need to improve the company’s confidence in its sample production. In seeking a solution that could better meet its requirements, Mimaki’s UCJV330-160 stood out, particularly for the performance of its white UV ink on Lintec’s own films.
“Our films are designed to perform at a premium level, so the print quality has to match,” explains Lintec Europe Managing Director, Andy Voss. “The adhesion, scratch resistance and overall punch
of Mimaki’s white ink is a significant step forward. When customers are assessing our films, the printed sample has to be an accurate representation of the finished application. We simply cannot compromise on that.”
The emphasis on white ink reflects a broader shift in architectural window graphics. Early commercial applications were typically CMYK based, but demand has increasingly moved towards subtler white fades that balance privacy and openness within modern workspaces. Digital printing enables fully customised graduated fades, delivering controlled visibility exactly where required, something standard off-the-shelf frosted films cannot achieve.
“In many contemporary interiors, it is the white layer that defines the design,” Voss continues. “It controls privacy, light transmission and visual impact. For that
reason, the opacity, durability and scratch resistance of the white ink are absolutely critical, particularly when printing onto hard coated films where unprinted areas are designed to remain pristine.”
Rapid sample printing response
The UCJV330-160 will be used primarily to produce in-house samples, allowing Lintec Europe to respond quickly to customer requests while retaining full control over print quality. Its integrated print and cut workflow also enables the creation of finished, ready-to-apply samples that closely reflect real-world installations.
In addition, the Mimaki printer will support Lintec Europe’s ongoing product development work. The company’s defect-free, cleanroom manufactured films are developed in Japan and can be
tested and evaluated in the UK before being released to the European market, with print performance, white ink behaviour and durability all assessed under controlled conditions.
The installation also enhances Lintec Europe’s technical support offering.
As the UCJV330-160 is widely used by print service providers producing window graphics, having the same platform in-house allows Lintec’s team to offer practical, experience-led guidance to customers working with its films.
By investing in Mimaki’s latest UV technology, Lintec Europe has ensured its UK operation is equipped with a production tool that fully supports the premium positioning of its films, reinforcing its role as a market leader in architectural window graphics.

PERSONALISATION FOR PROFIT: The Products and Technologies Driving Growth for Trophy Retailers
The awards and recognition industry has always been built on celebrating achievement, but today’s customers increasingly want more than a standard trophy or medal. Whether they are ordering for sports clubs, schools, businesses or special events, buyers are looking for products that feel unique, memorable and tailored to the recipient.
For trophy retailers, this shift presents a significant opportunity. Personalised products not only command higher margins but also open the door to entirely new markets. Better still, advances in decoration and printing technologies mean that many forms of personalisation can now be carried out in-house without major capital investment.
Today’s retailers have access to a wider range of personalisation technologies than ever before. From laser engraving and UV printing to sublimation and DTF apparel decoration, many systems are now available at investment levels that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.
For businesses looking to increase revenue, diversify their customer base and maximise the value of existing client relationships, personalisation has become one of the most effective routes to growth.
Revenue-Boosting Personalised Products
Drinkware
Personalised drinkware continues to be one of the strongest-performing product categories across both consumer and corporate markets.
Insulated bottles, travel mugs, sports bottles, tumblers and glassware can all be customised with names, logos and event branding. Sports clubs frequently order branded bottles for teams, while businesses use personalised drinkware as employee rewards, conference giveaways and promotional gifts.
The products are relatively inexpensive to source, easy to personalise and capable of generating healthy profit margins.
Wooden Awards and Gifts
The demand for sustainable and environmentally conscious products continues to grow, creating opportunities for retailers to introduce a range of wooden gifts and awards.
Laser-engraved chopping boards, presentation boxes, coasters, plaques and keepsake products offer a premium appearance while maintaining excellent margins. Personalisation adds significant perceived value, allowing retailers to charge substantially more than the cost of the base product.
Wood also lends itself particularly well to bespoke designs, making it attractive for corporate gifting and special presentations.
Glass and Crystal Gifts
While glass awards remain a staple within the recognition industry, retailers can broaden their offering by introducing personalised crystal and glass giftware.
pieces and commemorative gifts are popular choices for retirement awards, long-service recognition and executive gifting programmes.
These products often attract premium pricing while requiring relatively straightforward production processes.
Sports Merchandise
Most trophy retailers already have established relationships with sports clubs, making personalised merchandise a natural extension of existing business.
Boot bags, kit bags, water bottles, keyrings, display plaques and supporter merchandise can all be customised with player names, squad numbers and club branding.
The ability to supply both awards and merchandise strengthens customer relationships and increases average order values.
Corporate Desk Accessories
Corporate recognition programmes continue to grow, creating opportunities beyond traditional awards.
Personalised notebooks, desk nameplates, phone stands, presentation boxes and executive gifts can all be supplied to businesses seeking to reward staff, recognise achievement or enhance employee onboarding programmes.
The home gifting market remains one of the largest sectors within personalisation.
Products such as photo slates, wall plaques, decorative signs, clocks and engraved home accessories can be produced using many of the same technologies already found within the awards industry.
These products help retailers reach entirely new customer groups while making better use of existing equipment.
Pet Products
Pet-related personalisation continues to grow in popularity.
Engraved pet tags, feeding bowls, memorial plaques and keepsake gifts appeal to a customer base that is often willing to invest in meaningful, customised products.
Many of these items can be produced using existing engraving equipment, making them an attractive low-risk addition to a retailer’s product range.
Event and Wedding Products
Weddings, anniversaries and special celebrations provide numerous opportunities for personalisation.
Engraved champagne flutes, table signage, keepsake boxes, guest books and commemorative gifts all command premium pricing due to their bespoke nature.
These markets can provide valuable revenue outside the traditional awards season.
Affordable In-House Personalisation Technologies
One of the biggest changes in recent years has been the accessibility of professional-grade personalisation equipment. Technologies that were once the preserve of large manufacturers are now within reach of independent retailers.
Laser Engraving
Laser engraving remains one of the most
versatile personalisation methods available.
Modern CO2 laser systems can engrave and cut materials including wood, acrylic, leather, coated metals and glass. They offer fast production speeds, low consumable costs and excellent flexibility across multiple product categories.
For many retailers, a laser system remains the single most effective investment for expanding their personalised product offering.
UV Printing
UV printing has become increasingly popular as machine costs have reduced and print quality has improved.
The technology allows full-colour printing directly onto products such as acrylic, wood, glass, metal, promotional merchandise and signage.
Because UV printers can reproduce logos, photographs and detailed graphics, they enable retailers to move beyond engraving and offer highly customised full-colour products.
Sublimation Printing
Sublimation remains one of the most affordable entry points into personalisation.
Ideal for mugs, bottles, coasters, mouse mats and a wide range of promotional products, sublimation delivers vibrant full-colour results with relatively low equipment costs.
The process is easy to learn and particularly well suited to short-run and one-off orders.
Direct-to-Film (DTF) Apparel Decoration
DTF has rapidly become one of the most accessible and profitable personalisation technologies available to retailers.
The process allows vibrant full-colour graphics to be applied to a wide range of garments and textiles, including t-shirts, hoodies, sportswear, bags and workwear. Unlike traditional screen printing, DTF requires minimal setup and is cost-effective for both one-off orders and small production runs.
For trophy and awards retailers already serving sports clubs, schools and event organisers, DTF presents a natural
extension of existing product offerings. Teamwear, coaching apparel, event merchandise and branded workwear can all be supplied alongside trophies, medals and awards, increasing average order values and strengthening customer relationships.
Compact DTF systems have become increasingly affordable, making them a realistic investment for independent retailers looking to diversify into apparel decoration without significant overheads.
Turning Existing Customers into Bigger Customers
Perhaps the greatest advantage of personalisation is that many of the best opportunities already exist within a retailer’s current customer base.
Sports clubs purchasing trophies may also require teamwear, branded merchandise and presentation gifts. Corporate clients ordering awards may be interested in employee recognition gifts, branded products and onboarding packs. Schools and educational organisations often require a combination of awards, gifts and commemorative products.
By introducing complementary personalised products, retailers can increase spend per customer without the cost of acquiring new business.
Looking Ahead
The future of the awards industry is no longer confined to trophies, medals and plaques. Customers increasingly expect personalisation as standard and are willing to pay more for products that feel unique and meaningful.
With affordable technologies now readily available, retailers can expand into new categories, improve margins and create multiple revenue streams from their existing customer base. For businesses seeking growth in an increasingly competitive marketplace, personalisation is no longer an optional extra—it is one of the most powerful tools available for driving future profitability.
Whatever your personalisation ambitions, TEN Magazine connects you with the suppliers, products and technologies that can help turn emerging opportunities into profitable revenue streams.

PRODUCING ON-DEMAND EMBROIDERY
We have seen massive leaps forward in the world of print on demand. Producing one-off garments, at high quality, and with a quick turnaround is now very much achievable. Technology has been leveraged in such a way, that selling a virtual product on-line and then producing it, is simple and reduces waste, slow moving stock and maximises profitability.
Why should we not consider embroidered products in the same way? Are we assuming that every design would need to be digitised ‘in flight’ to make this a viable opportunity? Do we think it is just too complex a process?
The truth is, consumer demand for an embroidered product actually exceeds that of a printed product, but accessibility is what is holding it back. Embroidery fulfillers, on the whole, are not able to produce embroidery ‘on-demand’ for the following reasons.
They operate predominantly multi-head machines.
They don’t have the technology to enable it.
They don’t have the knowledge on how to do it.
Another consideration should be your current average order size. Do you know what this is?
We helped an industry leading embroiderer with exactly this problem.
Initially they ‘assumed’ their average order size was between 36 and 42 units. Their actual average order size was less
than 6 units. This number had significantly shifted in the last 5 years and without realising it, their customers were giving them a very clear message. Times have changed. We want smaller orders, and we want them more often.
Whether your focus is pure on-demand, or whether you have a mix of workwear, schoolwear, sportwear etc., being able to produce smaller quantities, at pace is what every embroiderer needs to be able to deliver today. And it is possible.
Melco have been aware of this market shift for some time and have carefully orchestrated their products to not only be able to accommodate on demand orders, but to thrive with them. With a unique combination of hardware and software, we can help you meet the expectations that your customers are demanding.
The new Melco Summit is designed to enable ‘on-demand’ production. It has many unique features to help you simplify production from integrated barcode/QR code readers to automated colour set-up and hoop selection.
The Melco EMT16 X which has been the machine of choice for the last few years, also has the ability to handle any order size, has barcode set-up options and with Swiss technology and build quality you can give your business the production predictability that any ambitious embroidery business needs.
To summarise, consumer buying habits drive change in any marketplace. Right now, embroidery fulfilment companies are seeing a change in order quantities and delivery expectations from their customers. The Melco range of products are perfectly placed to handle bulk production, but what most others can’t offer, is a total solution to embroidery ON DEMAND. At Amaya we can show you how.

TORCH: ONE TROPHY CONCEPT, FIVE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
In a market where much of the offering is still based on metal cups and standardized designs, having products that can stand out visually and adapt to a wide range of customers has become a necessity for distributors and trophy industry specialists.
The Torch series was created with precisely this goal in mind: to offer a modern, versatile, and highly customizable recognition platform built around a single design concept.
Its most distinctive feature is the upwardrising silhouette inspired by a torch, a universal symbol of effort, perseverance, and achievement. The angled shape creates a sense of movement and growth, making it an especially attractive option for sports competitions, corporate awards, and institutional recognitions.
Another important advantage of the collection is its commitment to sustainability. The wood used in the Torch
series comes from PEFC-certified sources, ensuring that it originates from responsibly managed forests and controlled supply chains.
This PEFC certification provides added value for organizations, companies, and institutions that increasingly prioritize environmentally responsible products when selecting awards and recognition items.
One of the most interesting aspects of the series is its ability to multiply commercial opportunities without the need to develop new molds or designs. From a single geometry, different product lines can be created to suit various market segments.
*Included as standard:
Auto-focus
Integrated cooling system
Integrated air assist
Lightburn laser software
4K camera
Class 1 laser safety enclosure
12 months warranty
Unlimited technical suppor t
The first version allows direct customization on wood through digital printing or laser engraving. This option is particularly suitable for sports clubs, municipalities, and events seeking a cost-effective solution without sacrificing a modern and distinctive image.
The second variant incorporates metalliceffect sheets, combining the warmth of wood with gold, silver, copper, or aluminum finishes. The result brings the product visually closer to traditional trophies while maintaining a much more contemporary aesthetic.
The third option combines two different woods, creating visual contrasts and delivering a more handcrafted and exclusive appearance. This version is particularly appealing for institutional awards or long-service recognitions.
The fourth option integrates wood with
technical panels available in different finishes and colors. Thanks to this configuration, it can be adapted to the visual identity of companies, federations, or sponsors, significantly expanding customization possibilities.
Finally, the combination of wood and acrylic allows the creation of awards with a more technological and corporate image while preserving the personality of the collection and offering a product suitable for sectors beyond the traditional sports environment.
Another key strength of the series is its availability in four sizes clearly aligned with competition rankings: XL for champion, L for runner-up, M for third place, and S for participation. This structure makes it easy to create cohesive award collections within the same event and allows each level of recognition to be
identified visually. In addition, the XL version provides a particularly impressive presence on stage or at the head table.
For trophy professionals, the Torch represents more than just a new catalog reference. It is a complete product family capable of meeting different budgets, styles, and customization requirements without losing aesthetic consistency.
In a sector where offering differentiated solutions is becoming increasingly important, the combination of design, modularity, multiple size options, extensive customization capabilities, and PEFC-certified materials makes the Torch series an especially valuable commercial tool for distributors and manufacturers looking to expand their portfolio with contemporary, high-perceived-value solutions.

But one of the biggest challenges facing many businesses today is finding opportunities for growth without taking unnecessary risks.
What if you wanted to test something new?
What if you wanted to increase average order value?
What if you wanted to attract a different customer?
And most importantly, what if you only had £100 to invest?
Rather than thinking about large stock investments or major product launches, we challenged ourselves to answer a simple question:
If we only had £100 to expand the product range tomorrow, where would we put it?
Here are 5 practical ideas.
The Trophy Engraver Pack
Many trophy businesses already have strong relationships with schools, clubs, businesses and organisations.
The opportunity often lies in selling more than just awards.
With £100, we would look at adding: Engraved slate coasters & slate medals
Sports bottles
Metal keyrings
Small presentation gifts
These products complement existing customers and can often be sold alongside awards, recognition items and presentation pieces. The goal is not to replace trophy sales. The goal is to give customers another reason to buy.
The UV Printer Pack
UV printing has opened up opportunities across a huge range of products.
Rather than investing heavily in unfamiliar categories, we’d focus on products with broad appeal and strong decoration potential.
With £100, we would consider:
Hip flasks
Bottles and tumblers
Compact giftware
Barware accessories such as bar blades
Engrave onto a huge range of giftware, signage, trophies, tools and industrial products
Laser pointer for quick set-up and easy production
Easily-applied nose cones for precise depth-regulation
USB connection with LAN network connectivity
Includes new Vectric V Carve software
£5,450+VAT
We also have a large selection of refurbished machines and part exchange on your old machine and lease purchase is

These products provide a good mix of personalisation potential and perceived value while remaining at relatively low risk. The best part? Many can be sold for multiple occasions throughout the year.
The Corporate Gift Pack
Corporate gifting remains one of the most underused opportunities within the personalisation sector.
Many businesses already have customers who need:
staff rewards
recognition gifts
event giveaways
thank-you presents
Yet few actively market products specifically for this audience.
With £100, we would look at:
Premium drinkware
Presentation-ready flasks
Desk accessories such as coasters
Gift packaging
The focus should be on products that look professional, engrave well and can be easily branded.
The Retail Pack
For businesses selling online, at markets or through independent retail channels, versatility is key.
Products need to be easy to explain, easy to personalise and easy to display.
With £100, we would focus on:
Slate coasters
Wooden serving boards
Bottle openers
Keyrings
Small gift sets
These products work across multiple occasions and price points while providing opportunities for personalisation and impulse purchases.
The Hospitality Pack
The hospitality sector continues to offer opportunities for engravers and personalisation businesses looking to broaden their customer base.
Hotels, pubs, restaurants, breweries, visitor attractions and holiday accommodation providers are increasingly looking for products that enhance customer experience, support branding and create additional revenue opportunities.
With £100, we would consider:
Slate serving boards
Wooden serving boards
Bottle openers
Barware accessories
Premium drinkware
These products can be supplied as branded merchandise, retail items, staff gifts, room accessories or products for hospitality-led events and experiences. For businesses looking to diversify beyond traditional engraving work, hospitality remains an interesting sector with plenty of potential.
Small investments –Bigger opportunities
The purpose of this challenge is not to suggest that £100 will transform a business overnight.
It is to demonstrate that expanding a range does not always require a huge investment.
Many businesses become comfortable with the products they know.
But some of the biggest opportunities often come from testing one or two new categories, creating better product combinations or finding additional ways to serve existing customers.
In today’s market, the businesses seeing the strongest growth are the ones making the most of the stock they already have while remaining open to new opportunities.
Sometimes all it takes is a £100 experiment.
